Use cases. What do you actually use Bitcoin for?

I just gather as much as I can and save it until it becomes the currency of the world!

Yes currency of the world is the situation I too expect for my bitcoin savings. Till that I do not have any idea for spending bitcoin other than lending them out for interest earning or investing in cloud mining. Most of spending are for multiply my bitcoin holdings.

Holding bitcoin till it becomes currency of world must be appreciated. More over spending bitcoin only to get back more bitcoin also a wise idea but I do not see how practically feasible in the world with most of programs turn scam. Anyway nice thoughts to use bitcoin for long holding.

I have tried using my bitcoin for prepaid load in my cellular phone and it works like a charm the load came fast plus there is a rebate. Very good and can be used for business in our country.

Your going to be holding onto it for quite a long time if you think it'll reach worldwide adoption as a currency. Given how developed the fiat markets are - alongside how much regulation would be needed/infrastructure to support Bitcoin transactions/awareness about it in general as well as putting trust in it - it will probably take more than a lifetime if it'll happen at all. Bitcoin is more of an interesting experiment - one that is rather unique but hasn't gotten far in comparison to real financial scales.

Yes world wide currency is very big goal when considering for a 6 years old currency. But people are expecting a massive price for bitcoin which is possible blindly when bitcoin started to gain value. Once it started to near $1000, the new investors will move to bigger prices for obvious reasons.

Do you use Bitcoin at least once a month? What do you actually use it for? Why? Is it better, cheaper, faster, more convenient than alternatives? Is it the only option?

If those 120.000+ daily transactions are actually real, there must be thousands of Bitcoin users active every day. What are we actually using Bitcoin for? Are we just true believers or are there real reasons to use Bitcoin instead of other available options?


I figure it's about time that we have a clearer picture of actual Bitcoin use cases. Sure, in a year or two the picture will probably change completely, but it's useful info right now for anyone interested in growing our community.

I use bitcoin several times a week at least as it's way much better than the other online payments since all the others put some restrictions based on the country your staying but bitcoin doesn't have these so its a plus on that matter and it has less fee with faster sending and receiving time too.

My uses:

Money transfer - I transfer it to a local bank account with the help of some exchanges
Micropayments - For paying some people when they do some tasks for me
Web services - One of the most I've used so far as it makes the whole process easier when using bitcoin

Some bitcoin Magazine offers a long list of options that includes everything from music downloads to gift cards to clothing. Bitcoin can be use for more than just services. The flexibility that is guaranteed by bitcoin makes it most suitable for each and everywhere.

I mostly use bitcoin for speculation, but as adoption continues to pick up steam I'd hope that retailers will begin to use BTC. Amazon using BTC would be great!

It would be interesting to see the breakdown by volume.
For example the poll says that more people use it for trading/investing than for transfers, but it might be the case, that the actual amount of transfers is bigger.

But i lost more rather than i got profit from them.
And now i only use to hold and time by time to trade.

That is a hard part when performing a holding method, when someone needs an urgent money even he/she doesn't want to convert it to fiat still they must do it. But to overcome it, depends on the situation, only withdraw money that is really need so somehow there still coins left.

In my case, I used my bitcoin now as part of my daily spendings since I almost spend around 220btc amount in my fiat last September so currently Im in the recovery status today. After I overcome the loss, I will used my saved bitcoin for holding now.

Well i think that if someone is unpatient then the holding method is not for him.
Because like me, i only want too see the price being increased as much as it can.

It excludes unpatient for a cause. Dumping really varies. But other just do dumping for no reason at all.

Anyways monitoring prices is really stressful but somehow giving you an excitement like today if you make profit in your sales.

I believe that holding bitcoin is also a way of bitcoin usage. Many people buy bitcoin just to hold for long term. So, different people find different usage from bitcoin. I too prefer holding bitcoin for long term.

I use it as a couple things. one, I actually have fun gaining, using bitcoins.  It is sort of like a game(collecting game currency that is)

Two, I like many others here think it will be worth something one day.  Hopefully we are correct
