I think bitcoin contrast to the dollar, is very different even with all fiat currencies, different bitcoin. bitcoin decentralization, nobody is controlling your money in bitcoin, and that's why I chose bitcoin as my currency a few years ago

I recently started using bitcoin when someone added me to bitcoin related facebook group.I thought bitcoin could make me suddenly rich because of some stories that i read on that group which turned out to be my false notion when I joined this forum

Yes, bitcoin is considered and its function but not recognized as an international currency. Just by having bitcoin you can buy goods in any country that accept bitcoin and have the products delivered to your doorstep.  Aside from currency, it is also considered as an investment because of its ever-rising value.

Twas before I created an account here, sometime in 2015.  I don't actively buy or sell things for bitcoin, nor do I earn money in bitcoin.  I just HODL.  I'm not exactly an early adopter, but perhaps in 20 years we'll all be considered that.

Wow that will be a long time of waiting. If you say you are not an early adopter then it is okay. This price is still way too low from the past price and many users here are just buying and selling. I dont think there are still many who have stocked their bitcoin. Considering how it went up many might have panic sold their coins.

I have not fully understand everything with bitcoin specially with mining. It seems like it is the large part of this industry. I just know some basics about it and still trying to figure out other things.

Me also i start in late 2015, i can say that my experience in bitcoin in my newbie rank of this community i am very frustrated because most of the time i got scam by different mining site and later on i achieved this rank i choose to avoid investment site and focus on trading.

This is the very same thing that has happened to my friends and how I get them into Bitcoin. I mentioned it to them that I am making good amount of money out of Bitcoins and they were just "Mehh." "Another scam." "Lame". Months after that, I started to cash out some of my money. I got myself a new phone, and I don't save my fiat money anymore because I don't have to. I buy as much food as I want. Back then, I would just eat as little as possible.

When they noticed that I can now support myself, they quickly got interested in Bitcoins. I talked to them about it and what I do in Bitcoins. I guided them for a while and now one of my friends is quickly approaching my level.

Yeah even I was trying to help my family financially, and my first plan was to go for part time job but salary was not too high so I thought to search for online work and I found this forum.
