DGC INFODigitalcoin (DGC) is an established cryptographic medium of exchange launched in May 2013. The Digitalcoin Foundation and its committed members insure network stability and health through evolving policies, system maintenance, and development funding. To date, DGC remains one of the most fair and well distributed forks of the original Bitcoin software. Click the images above to visit our various social groups. IRC and the DGC forums are our most active venues. Digitalcoin represents the collective effort of numerous individuals and a global community of users who choose to take more control of their own destiny through financial freedom. The strength of the community builds, shares, and improves Digitalcoin together. The coin is currently developed by paid and volunteer developers around the world, with standards, policies, and operations managed by the Digitalcoin Foundation. The Digitalcoin Foundation provides funding for developers, entrepreneurs, and visionaries in the crypto currency industry. If you have a great idea, or an existing project involving Digitalcoin, and need some support to make your vision a reality, the Digitalcoin Foundation would love to have the chance to help. The Digitalcoin Foundation is accepting new members. If you would like to offer your expertise or financial support, contact the Digitalcoin Foundation. Your involvement and contributions insure continued development, and gives you the opportunity to impact the direction of Digitalcoin's evolution. Join us right now!DGC TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONSNetwork Parameters Algorithm - Blocks are hashed using Scrypt, X11, or SHA256 algorithms. Confirmations - Confirmations average 40 seconds. Difficulty - Retargets every block Mining Reward - 5 per block found. Rewards halve every three years. Maximum coins - The total supply of digitalcoins will balance out around 48,166,000 as block halvings occur. Network Enhancements Algorithm Control - If the last three blocks were discovered by the same algorithm, the fourth block will be rejected until its found by one of the other two algorithms. This prevents directed attacks on the network from any single algorithm. Client Features Block Explorer - Built in block explorer allows you to look up transaction history of the network. Market Watch - Live market data pulled from Bittrex keeps you up to date on the digitalcoin price. IRC Portal - Chat directly with members of the digitalcoin community Smiley (note: due to the nature of IRC no one may be around when you ask your question; stay logged in and be patient!)

Good question bitcoin1387 and defaced.
Because the others threads are all created with a personnal account. This account isn't a private account. It's the DGC foundation community account on BTC.
The menbers of the foundation have access to this account and it's that why a new thread is created. Updates can be done even if people leave.

Good intention but what is to prevent a foundation member to change the password before leaving? Back to square one if that happen... -tb-

You're right techbytes . There's a disadvantage ....
I thought this is a good idea but it's not ideal.
What is the best solution?
A private account or a common account...?
Whatever the solution chosen there is a degree of uncertainty and risk in the two cases.
However, we must minimize the risks.

This won't prevent intentional malicious intent, but as long as nobody has bad intentions this can be updated going forward. Not sure if it's just my device, but it doesn't look like the screen shot to me. I see a very long skinny column of text. TT Edit: Thanks teillagory!!

Not sure we're absolutely certain, but the total supply should end up being around 48,166,000. TT

Obviously teillagory is one of the account holders, and the other is myself, Tsquared. It is just the two of us at present as administration of the Digitalcoin Foundation is still in progress. Once complete, other Core Foundation members will also have access to this "Digitalcoin Foundation" bitcointalk account. Thank you for your advice. We will add "Managed by user1, user2, user3" at the bottom of the ANN in order to provide full transparency. I am not the most technical person, and maybe someone else can explain better, but block speed is 40 seconds average, and typically 6 confirmations are required. Blocks are created by each algorithm independently, not collectively, so I changed: "Blocks are hashed using Scrypt, x11, and SHA256 algorithms." To: "Blocks are hashed using Scrypt, x11, or SHA256 algorithms." But, only 3 consecutive blocks can be found using a single algorithm as described under "Algorithm Control", and difficulty is adjusted across all three algorithms simultaneously as each block is found. The only other coin to utilize this type of multi algorithm system, to my knowledge, is myriadcoin, and the result is a very consistent daily block rate ( https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dgc/#!overview). Any input as to how this can be explained better in the ANN would be greatly appreciated. TT

I imagine 3 chickens pecking at the dish of rewards. If chicken Alpha gets 3 rewards in a row he gets pushed away from the reward dish. And has to wait out a turn. (this is correct?)

now in theory one algo could get shut out, no?
example: sha sha x11 sha sha x11 x11 sha x11 sha sha x11
see no reward for scrypt

This is essentially the way it works, except that the difficulty adjusts across all three algorithms, so that as one or two goes up, the other one or two comes down in an attempt to balance the blocks across all three algorithms. Would be really nice to have a custom blockchain explorer that provides some details on blocks found by each algorithm. TT

Would be really nice to have a custom blockchain explorer that provides some details on blocks found by each algorithm. TT Wasn't 100% satisfied with my own answer, and have been looking into this more. First of all, DGC needs a block explorer that provides information on blocks found by each algorithm. I think xawksow had one running at one point. Would really be nice to see some stats on blocks found by each algorithm and hashrates. coinwarz does a nice job of breaking out the different algorithms, but it's not a block explorer. Anyways, re-reading your post BitcoinNational, was that just an example or are you saying that Scrypt is getting shut out? I think it would be helpful to do a review of Digitalcoin to evaluate how the three algorithm system is performing, and potentially make some recommendations for any improvements that could be made. Would be interested to hear from someone qualified to do this kind of evaluation. TT

Tested the current client on a Windows machine and it is opening correctly. Also Bittrex data seems to be displayed correctly.
Perhaps Bittrex api issue has just been resolved by Bittrex?

I appreciate the support.
I think things are going to pick up soon. The last Digitalcoin setback was a rough one, and I think most of the former supporters are still around, but they're just waiting for the right time to get involved again. We could certainly use more skilled involvement, but we'll get there.

I finally swapped my (very) old wallet for the newer one, to version 3. Now the wallet is "reindexing block on disk", how long is this going to take? ^^
I haven't synched my old wallet for a long long time, and I even wasn't able to (probably because of the new version of DGC). Let's see how this goes..

Digitalcoin is an exceptional project that needs some development attention. Fundamentally, the changes made in V3 put DGC in a special class, and if we are able to get some good developers back on it, the coin has the potential to be really great. This would be an excellent showcase project for a dev team to pick up and work on. Some updates, some tweaks here and there, and DGC will be right back in the spotlight where it belongs. TT

A few of us do. the pools and block explorers need updated too. Exchanges to add:Bleutrade and ALCUREX Pools to remove:mining.wtf Hashlink Pools to add:Deltapool Block explorer to add:Bitnodes ( http://dgc.explorer.bitnodes.net) but it looks like it's currently down. I may have missed some things, and if I did please provide whatever comments. I was really just relaying a post from the old ANN thread, and am not promoting the pool. In fact, my preference for mining is http://cryptopools.com/ Thanks for your input techbytes! TT

ANN is update and ok.
I dont add more than 2 pools per algorithms because we are limited to put images. Its that why there was sometimes intermittent problem of layout. Normally the problem is resolved. If you find a layout problem again contact me here or pm.

Thanks for making the updates teillagory! The OP looks great! Website at http://www.digitalcoin.org has also been updated with new mining pools and adjusted exchange listings. All - there are several things currently in the works with Digitalcoin, and a few announcements coming shortly. Sincere appreciation to the members of the Digitalcoin Foundation who have stuck with the project with much ambition and dedication. We continually look forward to involvement from new or previously active community members, so feel free to chime in or offer a hand if you can. Anyone who can offer some constructive input is truly welcome to our great project. TT

Tyke, you want to say DGC. Because DGB is Digibyte. Oh yes, sorry. I have corrected that. I have done some research as regards the initial blocks: Blocks: 1-1,079 Reward: 2 Blocks: 1,080-2,159 Reward: 1 Blocks: 2,160-3,239 Reward: 2 Blocks: 3,240-4,319 Reward: 5 Blocks: 4,320-5,399 Reward: 8 Blocks: 5,400-6,479 Reward: 11 Blocks: 6,480-7,559 Reward: 14 Blocks: 7,560-8,639 Reward: 17 Blocks: 8,640-523,799 Reward: 20 (until the 5th of November 2013) Blocks: 523,800-1,027,999 Reward: 15 (until the 9th of December 2014) From block number 1,028,000 the reward per block is 5 DGC. Has it been 5 DGC up until now?

Excellent job researching this Tyke.
I can confirm the last two reward changes, and yes, block reward has been at 5 since December 2014.
Thanks for your work with DGC.

I will make sure I describe and explain fully the current algorithm and specification of the coin in the book. There should be 2160 blocks per day at 5 DGC reward per block. That's one block every 40 seconds found by one of the three algorithms. The chain runs a little slower than that, and we get an average of about 1900 blocks per day, but it's still 5 DGC every ~40 seconds TT

Welcome to the ROKOS Desktop Final steps / BTC and OK Clients a) Go to Menu > Internet and Click on your favorite Cryptocurrency Wallet This will open the Cryptocurrency wallet and start sync. *For some Cryptocurrencies the initial sync might take some days, wallets are fully usable after being fully Synchronized. b) Always remember to make constant backups of your wallets and save them in USB or external media. Use your wallets in ROKOS to plug HW and mine, Send/Receive, Stake, Share, become a full node and support your favorite Cryptocurrency network, develop new applications, etc, the limit is only in your imagination. Important Security Notice: *) Remember to create a backup for your Wallets, you can use the wallets to create them and save in different folders on a USB device. You should ALWAYS have a backup of your wallet, Raspberry Pi Hardware, Raspbian and ROKOS Software are under development hence not responsible for missuses, electrical or compatibility issues that might cause a loss of information. It is as secure as one's ability to take care for it, same as a computer, so always have a backup of your wallets on an external device. *) Some people tend to recommend getting a 128Gb MicroSD HC (High speed) , at the same time it does work, I do not recommend this solution, as microSD cards tend to get corrupted by the number of overwrites, to ensure the best functionality and security you should use an external HDD/USB storage device to store the chains. You can start testing and developing new integration with ROKOS and your favorite cryptocurrencies for your IoT projects. *********************** ROKOS is Released for Free to support Bitcoin OK and the crypto environment adoptionIf you find this work valuable or if it helped your project and You would like to support feel free to share your donations at BTC 15VrDkat5vD4FfycRk3E4e7EgqftzK6tm8 OK PWZg5F7NurKDNGdckRpQgmShEQhEHmF5W5 GMC GcVNPqcDdqZLbEh65eyo4ADPEKBsU4tyLi BLK B8kBAXZbkXDKJ9Zu7dcarUCp8SfnyoKWVe DMD dLSokViLNuMD1q6kssWMtv9vvgau4Yo5GV DGC DQfpBXe11e7YnWmyNpeg6wkESiWN1ENEPp ENRG e7t3em8YTwFRXeSQtXumhDBqQzzphoiQnu ERC EKz7czViBqwSu8Ne2omxaznMnkAY4FqkJB METAL MNgjwErYStsEfyKiSoUfyoX877kZcSpmZG MOJO MSztn2BwFjhgm9e5nEBwDzAr1r4UcxYLRY TX Tk38sE6rLz63JtbErecGgqJxdB5RKMdnbz SOIL 0x3df2e34602fd5711b2f32daebeff96df0a4df113 Contact: OKtoshi at devteam@okcash.co *********************** "Empower yourself and build your own Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies Fullnode Guide"ROKOS Guide from zero! Full steps for New Usersby SwedishBitMiner ---Prepare the MicroSD/MicroSDHC card--- (I did this on a Windows computer, and I dont know what tool to use for Mac to install the iso file Image burner, for this guide you will have to figure out that yourself, if you use Mac) 1. Download and install SD Formatter 4.0 (This is the tool to format the SD card) from: Windows: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/eula_windows/SDFormatterv4.zipMac: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/eula_mac/SDFormatter_4.00B.pkg(or find it yourself at: https://sdcard.org/downloads) 2. Insert the MicroSD/MicroSDHC card into your PC/Mac. (You will probably need an MicroSD to SD adapter for this). 3. Start SD Formatter 4.0 and click the [Option] button. In there you change from "FORMAT TYPE: QUICK" to "FORMAT TYPE: (FULL)Erase", just leave the "FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTMENT" in OFF and click the [OK] button so start the format. When the card is completely formatted click the [Exit] button to close SD Formatter. 4. Download and install Win32 Disk Imager (This is the iso file Image burner) from: Windows: http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/files/latest/download5. Download ROKOS Core (rokos5.img.zip) and unzip the ISO file (This is the awesome ROKOS Core "Operating System" that we are going to install on the SD card) from: Download: http://bit.ly/rokos5flavors(or find it yourself at: http://rokos.space6. Start Win32 Disk Imager, press the "little blue folder" and select the "rokos5.img" file that you did extract. Make sure your SD card is selected in the list to the right and press the [Write] button. It will tell you that it can corrupt the SD card, just press [Yes] to continue the installation, when the installation to the SD card is done press the [Exit] button to close Win32 Disk Imager. 7. Now "Safely remove" your SD card from the computer. 8. Put the MicroSD/MicroSDHC card in your Raspberry Pi 2, and make sure you got an USB Keyboard, Monitor (via HDMI), and and Internet cable connected to the Raspberry Pi 2 before you connect the power cable to your Raspberry Pi 2. ---Installing ROKOS --- (The first boot of ROKOS ) 1. Type: (and press enter) 2. Select: (and press enter) press enter again on the <Ok> button. 3. Select: (and press enter) press enter again on the <Ok> button. Type a new password (you will not see the letters) and press enter, type your new password again, and press enter. Then press the <Ok> button. 4. Select: 5. Internationalization Options (and press enter) Then select: (Choose your timezone) 5. Press the "TAB" button on your keyboard two times to get to the <Finish> button, and press enter. Then choose <Yes> to restart your system. 6. Type: (and press enter) your system will now start up and you are DONE!ENJOY THIS AWESOME OPERATING SYSTEM!

Please help towards the book by donating to the BTC wallet address: 1CRLy4xUZbh9rj2GPANiNNBZGZKRKLYYwJ
I wasn't around for the first year, so I can't wait to read it. Thanks for working on this Tyke! It's not much, but I sent a little. Hope others can help you out a little too. TT

I posted this in another coins thread, but it was largely ignored. I think it can be of great benefit to DGC as well.
DGC desperately needs an additional form of mining to appeal to users who want to support and secure the network, but don't have the time nor funds to set up and maintain expensive mining equipment.
There currently isn't much incentive for anyone to mine anything other than multipools, or one of the TOP coins they are heavily invested in. With a very carefully calculated PoS reward (there may be something better than PoS these days, I'm terribly out of date...POS3?) it can appeal to the basic user. I don't think pure POS would be necessary (or would it), maybe hybrid?
Tell me your thoughts.

This is the latest official ANN. Oldest that I'm aware of is: Topic: DigitalCoin.Co | Secure. Established. Active Development | v2.0 Released! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=209508.0This was started by baritus. After that came: [DGC] Digitalcoin 3.0 | Multi-algorithm, Improved Blockchain Storage | RELEASED! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=785601.0This was started by kenel So in order to be able to keep the OP updated we started this one, and a few of us have access to the Digitalcoin Foundation user account, so we shouldn't have to create another ANN if one person leaves. We do use the Digitalcoin forum a little more than BCT. https://forum.digitalcoin.coTT

This coin is good. I hope it does well.
I don't really believe in PoS, but then I don't know too much about it. Is it actually possible to implement multi-algo with some blocks being found on PoS...? How does difficulty work in proof of stake?

I've never fully understood how POS works, but it seems like POS/POW hybrids make a lot of sense from a user perspective. This coin looks interesting. Taking forever to download the blockchain

UPDATE
Digitalcoin qt wallet deserves some attention. There is one small bug and some unfinished functionality, plus a facelift would be nice. Looking more and more like this will happen soon. Details as more become available, and more community input is welcome.
There has been ongoing discussion regarding core updates. Currently planning on making changes to the difficulty adjustments to correct block time irregularities, and a possible change to the block rewards that will not change daily coin production. Current approach would be more of a 3.1 update while setting up for V4.
Actual difficulty adjustment techniques are being considered by people much smarter than myself, but the intention is to smooth the block times which vary too much, and improve the overall performance and stability. All opinions are welcome.

Coinwarz is showing it as a most profitable coin to mine today as: Digitalcoin-Scrypt But is that just because of a temporary pump or is this long term? Doesn't seem to be active here.

You're correct. Very little activity, mainly because there is no dev currently.
DGC is a good coin, and would be much better with a dev who could spend some time on it and give us something to be interested in.
There is no pump. DGC has had a very stable price for a long time. Always around $.01.

If there is no dev, wouldn't it be better to leave the coin ? or overtake it ? I mean, a lot of people i guess have invested ( time, BTC, money ...) and it would be good if they can show up and do something to be at least able to get some money back. By the way, any announcement ?

that's odd, i can't start win wallet anymore online (w7-64), offline it's ok EXCEPTION: St13runtime_error value is type str, expected obj ......\digitalcoin-qt.exe in Runaway exception Bittrex has disabled the BTC-DGC market and the wallet has a connection to that market. I don't know if the "market" piece of the wallet can be disabled, but starting it off line is a good workaround to at least get it started.

better ban bittrex.com in hosts file, wallet will work, and you'll still be able to reach exchange via www.bittrex.comThis works for me. Type "127.0.0.1 bittrex.com" in the windows host file and the wallet works.

You should really get this thread listed on: https://coinmarketcap.com/No one will take your seriously if you do not. This will help your coin out A LOT. People want to know what's going on, and if it is not listed, then people cannot read the activity from the developers and the community.

This is one of the oldest project I remember and still going. What is the plan of the coin? Needs some refreshing to do and may be add masternode and others to get traction in the market. Thanks

The mining fee of this site is horrendous. It charges close to 30% as a fee. Where the hell anyone charges that much? I was mining here.. https://dgcx11.miningfield.comAll Time Credit Debit_AP TXFee 263.33303772 126.98873964 90.00000000

I regularly adjust this value according to the coin value, current payout fee is 11DGC. This means that if you withdraw 40DGC or 4000DGC, you are only charged 11DGC. Regards, Luis Fonseca Miningfield Admin I can understand the want to make profit - but that's just dumb. Set a flat rate or go by % - changing based on coin value is just greedy and you will lose users because of it. Mercatox (exchange) does that shit and I stopped buying with them - a lot of people did. Now they are hurting for new clients.
