So basically i`m not a gamer, but i have big respect for gamers, it's a 180 billion $ market, so I was wondering if there is any altcoin that can be obtained by gaming. It's a 180 billion $ market, so let's not be foolish, and let's make a crypto-currency/ or promote one, in order to get a share of that market cap.
So are there any altcoins that can be obtained simply by playing online games? If yes then post them below, and i`ll put them in the OP so that gamers can see the list and start getting them through playing games. I might even review them.
HOW ABOUT A BIG MMORPG/MMORTS GAME (Online: Like e-Republic but with cryptocurrencies?)
There are tons of private servers for any MMO game, why can't anyone create any MMO private server based on Bitcoin or other Crypto?

There are plenty of coins used in games. But in the cases I am thinking of they are used by the players, so you have to come up with some good reason why other players would give you coins. Two apparently quite lucrative sources of in game income are the General Mining Corp and the General Retirement Corp, both of which regularly buy large quantities (lately typically about fifty million units in a shipment) of Deuterium; prices are shown here: http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/deuterium.htmlMore data on the various assets they play with are linked from the main menu page here: http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/digitalisassets.htmlThe game, or metagame, in which this all takes place has the top level of its wiki pages here: http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=galactic_milieuThe trick to getting players who have coins to give you some is usually to find some way that your characters or groups or nations or whatever scale you operate on in the game can be of use to them; or simply by doing trades between various factions, exchanging their various currencies for them for example, or organising procurement of things in a way that saves them bother such as by doing the small scale buying from small suppliers that is necessary to put together a large scale lot of something that players at a larger scale are interested in. (For example a Freeciv-scale settler unit creates a city of population 10000 when it settles, but 10000 characters is a large number of characters at an individual-character scale, and not everyone interested in obtaining a freeciv-scale settler unit wants to deal with the details of grouping together 10000 MUD-characters, for example, to create such a unit from a smaller scale of play...) -MarkM-

Not so much a currency but a site, I'd personally recommend Dragon Knight 2, It offers 6 different coins being, HYPER, HTML5, GP, Flappycoin, Einsteinium, and Coin2.

there are a couple of games that pay you in bitcoin if you play them . but other than that i know about Hyper that has dedicated Counter Strike servers and pays you in Hyper.
never tried HYPER but from what i have understood you cant earn much from it and you have to spend it in game to buy for example guns and amos in game.

Well, I know of two crypto that you could earn by playing games. Those are GoldPieces and Hyper. However, Hyper is increasing in price as well as it's getting more into games. There are several game servers that let you earn Hyper such as Minecraft, Counter Strike, Team Fortress and more.

www.gamerholic.com lets you play games for Bitcoin or Gamerholic coins, doesn't seem to be getting any traction though.

I know HYPER and Gridcoin, whereas Gridcoin is more a reward coin you get to provide computing power for the BOINC network for instance.

Hmm, still shallow, nothing playable by the masses.
Huntercoin looks pretty decent so far, the others are shallow.
I was thinking about something like e-Republic but with crypto currencies.
Or
There are alot of private servers for popular MMO games, why hasnt anybody made one yet based on cryptocurrencies?

Gcoin is something what was initially distributed by slots and as far as I know you can still get it by playing their games. Unfortunately it's worthless and traded only on some backyard exchanges (but I'm not sure if it's still traded).

MotoCoin is a game where you can earn coins directly on the blockchain. It's tough though and it needs new dev's to support and develop upon. http://motocoin-dev.github.io/motocoin-site/

i dont think so that 30-40 yo guys will sit at front of their pc to play some games for cents.
Well this would be mostly for the 13-30 year age groups. Alot of kids and young people play online games, kids can earn their purse money, while young people can earn some to pay the bills. And it would not be cents, if a strong MMO game gets developed then obviously you can earn thousands. I was just watching other day a chinese guy giving an interview saying that he makes 30-40,000$ /month by playing online games and selling the ingame currency for $$$ Now if they would just replace the ingame currency with bitcoin, then you dont even need to sell it, you just have it!

Also, if you look at the average player of Eve Online (~30 years old) for example, and how much time and money they spend on the game, the potential is there. HYPER actually has funds set aside to develop an original MMO, we are still researching frameworks and need to have a higher market cap before we can start the development. And yes, esports is huge and is a billion dollar industry. We have over 4500 players on our most popular game servers (we also run other servers but these are the biggest) so the demand is definitely there: http://hyper.microngaming.com/hlstats.php

pretty much this gaming industry is way too high tech and people want games with awesome looking graphic. Unless YOU can create a VR game that people can play with bitcoin...VR is still in infant phase just like bitcoin and you'll get more users to adapt bitcoin.

And we have over 4500 players (please see above post) so I think actually, that a lot of people love the combo of crypto and gaming.

I personally own oculus rift and cardboard myself. I would rather use them instead of my desktop or ps4.
