There are, basically, three possibilities:

1) Slimcoin whales (there must be some here Wink ) donate some BTC to get listed on one of the exchanges that accept cryptocurreencies for cash. YoBit, for example, charges 0,1 BTC.

2) Every SLM user fills the YoBit AddCoin form to apply. Maybe there's another interesting exchange, but I don't know.

3) Slimcoin development starts again and creates some buzz - technologically, it's way more advanced than most clonecoins - and some exchange will pick it up.

2 is certainly the cheapest option. So I would recommend all the slimcoin users that want SLM to become successful to fill the YoBit form. I have already filled it so I can provide you the necessary data:

Quote
Coin name    - Slimcoin
Ticker - SLM
Algo - DCrypt

Number of blocks and Money supply: see http://www.slimcoin.club/#blkexp for the current number, "Money supply" is shown as "Total coins". (Number of blocks is actually about 680000 and Money Supply a little bit over 8000000)
Min commission - 0.01
Block time    - 90 seconds
Dev language - English
Type - POW & POS
secp256k1 ver - No
Source link (Git)    - https://github.com/slimcoin-project/Slimcoin
Explorer - https://bchain.info/SLM or https://slimcoin.club
Bitcointalk topic - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1141676.0

In the "comments" section I would mention that it's the first coin using Proof of Burn.

If we pay to yobit 0.1 BTC means they will list SLM ?

That's what they are claiming on their website (in the Addcoin section):

Quote from: Yobit.net
Listing type:
• Free - 0.00 btc - no guarantee
• Premium - 0.1 btc - 2 business day
• Exclusive - 0.5 btc - 1 business day + mail alert to all users

What I don't know is how trustworthy they are. We can also wait a bit if they add SLM without paying.

If it's a 0.1 BTC problem - it's not a problem Smiley

But as for me - I'll pay much more for the work someone will do to fix wallet bugs and update to the current codebase. With Linux wallet stuck from time to time - no one exchange will work with such coin for a long time Sad

No it is not a problem 0,1 BTC. The question is really who can fix the wallet and the cost of it

Maybe we can set up some kind of "development fund". If the development fund is in Slimcoins, however, I think there must be several hundreds of thousands of SLM to really attract developers. Maybe even a million (that would be 10% of the current supply, that would be an attractive bounty).

I don't know how many whales with large holdings we have, unfortunately I'm not one of them. Maybe there are many Slimcoins still held by community members that left Slimcoin after its initial hype. So the effective supply may be much lower than the 10 millions.

I'm myself trying to understand the basics of cryptocurrency coding, but that will be a slow process. What I'm currently planning is to write a Python script that can download the block that's failing to download, so Linux users would not have to run a separate Windows client. But that would only help normal users, not exchanges and other businesses. For them, it must "just work".

I can give 50 000 SLM

That's a good start! ArchitektoR also has already anonnounced bounties in this order of magnitude. I think we would need some ~5-10 more SLM whales to do the same and we had a respectable amount (500000+).

For now, all announced bounties together are SLM130.000. We actually can, as a maximum, consider 0.00001 BTC or 1000 satoshi per SLM a realistic price (last BTER price was 230 satoshi bid and 1572 ask). That would mean that all bounties are worth ~1,3 BTC; seems not enough, I think - developers are not cheap. And it's an optimistic price as we are currently not on an exchange.

Of course, we all know that a bug-free and well-maintained SLM could be worth much more (I expect at least a market cap of 100.000 USD, if not a million).

Perhaps not all members of the Slimcoin community would want to disclose their "whale" status. So if someone wants to stay anonymous but offer a bounty, he/she can send me a PM with the amount he/she is wanting to donate to development of SLM and if it's for a particular purpose. I'll respect your privacy and won't give the names publicly.

I list the actually most severe bugs:
- The Linux client stuck bug - I think that's the most severe as most crypto businesses use Linux;
- High memory usage in some situations
- Windows GUI client crashes

These bugfixes would result in a really usable 0.3 client. Next step would be to fix the "stuck bug" (may be related to the 0.3 bug) from gjhiggins' SLM 0.4.

If you are a developer and are interested, write me a PM too.

Hey guys I'm interested in getting this coin listed  and active as well I have at my disposal 3 HP c7000 compute clusters with 16 blades and 16 - 24 threads per blade,  per cluster, (L, E, and X series 5500 and 5600 series xeons) and the ability to virtualize into as many instances of linux that are needed connecting to the internet through independent VPN tunnels with different exit aperture IP addresses.  If someone could explain to me very simply how I could point my clusters to make the optimal amount of monetary requirements I would be more than happy to do so on a very very short-term basis say a few days or a week in order to raise the funds needed for development and listing on exchanges, I can't really developed much more time than that though because of what the computer clusters are used for as far as regular business goes. If you guys have any ideas let me know.  If there is an idea about how I could use this cluster mining something different, to be able to donate for development ( mainly the reason why I want to be a investor is so that the developer teaches me wallet development in the first place) ( in that case I would be willing to pay said developer extra, privately, for the knowledge he could impart upon me) ( let's face it there arent enough Developers to fill the needs to maintain the lower section of the altcoin world)

Hi khryptor, your offer sounds interesting. The question seems to be if your engagement would help more if you mine Slimcoins or another currency to trade it for Bitcoins, am I understanding right?

I think your cluster should be able to mine many SLM (maybe most of them), but maybe it would be "over-dimensioned" and it would be a good idea to use only a part from it for SLM and another part for another coin for donations.

Unfortunately I am not a mining expert and don't know which are the most profitable coins right now and which would fit to your hardware - I think the most skilled miner here is the user "johnnylatte" who has ported a Bitcoin mining software to Slimcoin.

Looks like SLM bounties is not enough. So I can add for the beginning 1 BTC for the good working Linux daemon (stop stucking and working mining) and wallet codebase update (latest wallet + stop crashing when solomining).
