Heh. Whoops. I forgot to add the wait time code back in when I migrated the program to use JSoup earlier today. It probably got itself IP banned. I'll fix that now.

Edit: Should be fixed now.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Took a long time though ..about 4 min (unless that is normal just pointing it out)

Appreciate the app and your efforts. Like most of us here we likely will never sell...but fun to look Smiley (my life is soooo lame) Sad

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

I have a feeling that the estimations are way too high compared to the actual market price. I think the developers should at least update the formula/code at least once every, say fortnight. Otherwise it's not even an estimation instead it's just misleading information.

The site counts the posts by itself, it doesn't mirror from bitcointalk. This may lead to some discrepancies if any posts of yours were in a thread that is in a section that a normal account cannot access, like the trashcan. Since the bot can't read those posts, it won't know about them, but the forum still counts those posts since they are still stored in its databases.

Took a long time though ..about 4 min (unless that is normal just pointing it out)
Seems about right. I have to wait at least one second between requests to bitcointalk otherwise the forum will give the bot a temporary ip ban. To be safe it waits 1.01 seconds, so the minimum time it could possibly take is the number of pages of posts you have in your show posts page multiplied by 1.01. Of course it will take a little longer because fetching the page takes time and so does parsing it.

I have a feeling that the estimations are way too high compared to the actual market price. I think the developers should at least update the formula/code at least once every, say fortnight. Otherwise it's not even an estimation instead it's just misleading information.
It isn't misleading since there is more than just the price that is given. However if you think the prices are to high, suggest me a lower rate for the algorithm specified in the OP.

I think around a 1/3 reduction to the current algorithm would be better.

for newbie/jr yes …
for some above, full/senior sometimes price is lower than the real value.
keep in mind that some one user/account develop thread with many replies and update (for example list of signature campaign).

i have idea to your site
if can you add bitcoin address have been posted of my bitcointalk account
maybe like my stake address at meta or posted at games and round etc.
i think it's can help some people Smiley

it's just my opinion

That is a good idea. I think I can make it so that it would only get the addresses that you have posted in non quoted text, so it may grab an address that isn't yours. I would definitely make it so that it would only pull addresses from the stake your address thread and the marketplace section.

ohh it's nice idea "only posted address, not quoted"
i think i will donate some satosi if you realize it

Yeah... I've got a newbie account that is potential member that is valued at over 0.025 BTC lol. How I hope that is true.

Great app. I'm experimenting with it. One problem I have is that it's not working :3

You say there is a place where you have to put in a bitcointalk account login, so it can check the user's trust, and I've made an account for this, but I can't find that snippet of code. Could you tell me where it is?

Hey OP, this guy's question has been left unanswered. I'm also wondering where to put the account details for the account checker bot? I want to host a price checker on my site, too.

PS. Do you have any idea when the installation instructions are coming?

looking for a signature campaign, dm me for that

Why the sad face? 0.06 for a member account is alot. You can get a potential full member for 0.025 and a normal full member for 0.05. There's no reason to complain, and these account pricers usually overestimate (no offence OP)

You put the account details here: https://github.com/achow101/BitcointalkAccountPricer/blob/master/src/com/achow101/bctalkaccountpricer/server/AccountPricer.java#L48

PS. Do you have any idea when the installation instructions are coming?
There are instructions here: https://github.com/achow101/BitcointalkAccountPricer/blob/master/DEVELOPING.md#installing-on-a-server. You need to compile the program before doing those.

Does anyone else disagree with the community's view on 'post length'?

Sometimes a simple sentence or two is all that's needed - why do most services count the length of posts when a lot of times, 90% is useless filler or repetition?

Sometimes, less is more... Wink

Because it is incredibly difficult to define when post quality is when writing a computer algorithm without getting into AI and all that sort of stuff. Post quality is subjective, and really the only way to determine post quality is through reading posts and determining that in you head. There is currently no simple way to put that into a computer program, it isn't objective, which makes it very very difficult. The best way to do that is objectively through the length of the post. In the vast majority of cases, long posts are usually of a higher quality than short posts. It takes more time and effort to formulate a long response, which many spammers do not do. Yes I agree that some short posts are good quality and that some long posts are not, but that is a difficult metric to put into code.

I have updated the site so that some more data is displayed.

Notable Changes:
  • Addresses posted in non-quoted text are now displayed and linked to. If the address was posted multiple times, the first post is linked. The posted addresses are validated before they are displayed
  • Information about the next potential rank is displayed.
  • Calculation is adjusted down

Edit: Changed to include validation of addresses. add calc change

You will need Apache Tomcat. You can follow the instructions here: https://github.com/achow101/BitcointalkAccountPricer/blob/master/INSTALL.md#running-precompiled-release to download and run the compiled output that I have started posting.
