I will wait for a consensus before responding but I am happy to see more players getting involved and debating possible moves.
In other news I spoke to another highly ranked Grandmaster about bitcoin this week. Turns out he is fairly interested. Next week I will try to get him to download a wallet and buy his first bitcoin. I will keep approaching people one by one until I think I have enough interest to ask a tournament organizer to pay appearance fees and prizes in bitcoin. BTC is such a better solution with players coming from many countries to play. One day I hope that BTC can become the preferred reserve currency for global commerce.

I will go for d3 as well. Nc3 seems to restrict the movement of the Queen. So I am against it. If d3 isn't that popular, I would look at d4.
Since Nc3 seems unpopular, I'll go for d3. Now we have two votes for d4, two for d3, and one for Qb3. Actmyname, are you willing to break the tie by changing your vote to one of d4 or d3?

I'm still recommending Qb3. The reasoning behind this, if you can see, is that d4 and d3 give him an advantage because he can insert the move b5, attacking the queen, kicking it away, and then playing Bb2. He doesn't need to take the d4 pawn if d4 is played, because he can develop his bishop if we take on c, and d3 is very passive. However, with Qb3, if he plays b5, we get to play whichever move matters more to the situation, getting more flexibility.

Ask yourself one question. Do you really think we can beat or draw this guy?
Yes. If the answer is yes I propose 8. d4 as the best move. The more pieces we can trade the better chance we have to minimize his skill edge
That's not even remotely true. If the answer is no then I suggest 8. Qxe6 check! We will lose our queen but so what? How often do you get the chance to put a Grandmaster in check? Who knows how many more chances we will have to check him.
If you feel you have no chance to win, the proper thing to do is resign. Wasting everybody's time with this sort of silliness is not only extremely poor etiquette, it's against the rules in most tournaments. You can get disqualified for trying this in real life.

d3 enables you to develop the Bishop. I prefer it to d4 since the pawn is supported and I don't want the d pawn exchanged now. I don't see how Qb3 helps because black can anyway play b5 followed by Bb7.

I don't see how Qb3 helps because black can anyway play b5 followed by Bb7. Think about this. If we play Qb3 and black plays b5, we can even try to attack the queenside via a4. There won't be time to play Bb7. Say we play d3. Then, black plays b5. Then we have to play the queen back. Then black can play Bb7.

Ok you convinced me. Lets focus hard and beat this GM! 8. d3 looks good. Lets keep all our pieces and play for checkmate and the win instead of just check.

Okay, so we have three votes for d3 (jjacob, languagehasmeaning, and myself), two votes for d4 (abacus and sourgummies), and one vote for Qb3 (actmyname). I actually prefer Nc3 or Qb3, but I'm still going with d3 to break the tie. If there are no new suggestions in the next 24 hours, Team Bitcointalk is going with 8. d3.

I am happy to see more players participating. I will wait another day or so to see if the consensus changes since the votes are so close. I will be busy with the World Cup soon but will still visit bitcointalk every few days to make a move. Thanks Foxpup for tallying the votes. http://www.bakuworldcup2015.com/If I have time I plan to talk to a few more players about bitcoin. The last person I spoke to seemed very receptive.

On another note, there have been tournaments organized with prize money in cryptocurrency. http://www.freechess.org/Events/NXT/I hope this gets bigger with time.

I prefer Nc3 way more than d3 (and Qb3 too). The objective of d4 was to swap the pawns, as I also think that The more pieces we can trade the better chance we have to minimize his skill edge
But I could be wrong as well considering what you answered to that quote. You've probably the best chess knowledge among us challengers so I think it's better to follow your suggestions when I'm unsure. So, if it's allowed, I would revise my vote for Nc3. In that case the updated situation should be: 2 votes for d3 (jjacob, languagehasmeaning) 2 votes for Nc3 (Foxpup, abacus) 1 vote for d4 (sourgummies) 1 vote for Qb3 (actmyname) @letsplayagame:Is it allowed, in the Chess world, to say "Good Luck" before a competition? I think a few of Bitcointalk members will cheer on you (in the World Cup, but not this match... )

You're 11 minutes too late, but I'll let it slide. We need a tiebreaker. d3 or Nc3?

My response (which some of you already guessed) is below: 1. Nf3 d5 2. c4 e6 3. g3 Nf6 4. Bg2 dxc4 5. Qa4+ Nbd7 6. Qxc4 c5 7. 0-0 a6 8. d3 b5

Too passive. I say we keep the queen on the forth rank with 9. Qh4 to maintain the pressure.
