There is no doubt that New York is recognized as the world’s finance center with Wall Street signifying the powerful financial markets of the United States. However, New York has just enacted a virtual currencies regulatory framework, namely New York State BitLicense, which forced many bitcoin business to leave the state, including top exchanges as Bitfinex and Kraken.

Where do you think will be the center of bitcoin business? Will it be in America, Asia or Europe?

Currently, Arnhem in The Netherlands is the Bitcoin Capital in the world.

See also this reddit thread, and two earlier posts on this:

Bitcoin is getting mainstream here. See also these articles: journalist from MIT living a weekend on bitcoins and Allen Scott's experience in Arnhem Bitcoincity.

If you want to be truly amazed by the amount of physical goods and IRL services you can pay for with Bitcoin, come and visit Arnhem in the The Netherlands (close to the German border, approximately 1 hour from Amsterdam).

There's all kinds of business accepting Bitcoin here: book stores, hairdressers, clothing stores, computer stores, car companies, bed & breakfast, a shoemaker, diving shop, massage salon, gift shop, dentist, bowling center, hotel, supermarket, bike shops, and loads of restaurants, bars, pubs, coffee shops and lunchrooms.

Arnhem has the highest concentration of Bitcoin-accepting merchants worldwide, making it the most Bitcoin-friendly city in the world (also according to this article). See also this report from someone spending a weekend here in Arnhem, living entirely on Bitcoin.

Seriously, if you want to experience how far Bitcoin mainstream acceptance has come already, visit Arnhem and you will be surprised.

I think Canada is doing well with their 'hands-off' laws they've enacted to allow for Bitcoin business development, and Australia is making all the right moves too. If I had to choose either of them, I'd probably go with Canada. Not sure how much actually Bitcoin economic activity goes on there though.

I think there are perhaps two different answers, one country for positive laws/regulations, and another for Bitcoin usage.

I hope so, I did think at one time the US was at the for front but opinions from the US have changed my mind. I do think we should all not wait for a Bitcoin capital but make new ones and network them.

This is news to me, I thought the Bitcoin protocol generates the coins. ^joke^
We do not need a single "World Bitcoin Center" This concept already failed with the Bitcoin foundation.
Let's just accept Bitcoin as a global technology without a central figure head. We all know these entities are
prone to corruption and targeted for attacks. Let the technology dictate it's own flow in the world. Free as a bird.

trust me, there would be numbers of bitcoin centres for various usage soon, anyone could create it.
one would be in hong kong, such as "stock market" that you would be able to trade lots of alt coins worth thousands within a few clicks, restaurants in which accepts bitcoins.
since hong kong is one of the region without regulating bitcoin.

out of ability to use the signature, i want a new ban strike policy that will fade the strike after 90~120 days of the ban and not to be traced back, like google | email me for anything urgent, message will possibly not be instantly responded
i am not really active for some reason

It is Japan initial statement, and they created this "bitcoin can't be owned" mainly because there were pressure from international public opinion to do something in the Mt.Gox case.
So Japan is not exactly supporting bitcoin, it is rather they do not interfere with anything bitcoin related. It means they won't chase bitcoin scammers too...

i don't think if China is the bitcoin center in the world right now but it definitely has the potential of becoming the center because of all the mining they are doing and also the amount of investment that Chinese have made into bitcoin over the years.

yes, where is the center of this decentralized network?

Yes. Bitcoin is global and decentralized. There is and never will be a center other than the center of the Earth.

Any stats on whether the shops keep the coins or directly transfer them to euros?
