Thanks for the reply shift team, I really appreciate a coin that their devs who respond to client questions and concerns.
Price has really dipped down, this could be an opportunity to get some coins at a good entry point. Honestly I kind of hope it stays at this level for a bit so I can accumulate a nice little stash.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in
Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it
will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Hi, What should i put on the gshift node to connect multiple rigs on the node that runs my wallet? Of course on the ethminer, I have to put -F http://127.0.0.1:53901 or other IP I specify on the gshift node, but just do not know the right command on the node. Thanks

Thanks Put in the local IP of your PC running the node, I use a .bat to open Gshift that looks similar to this gshift --rpc --rpcaddr "192.168.1.29" --rpcport "53901" This way any machine on your LAN can connect to the server.

Thanks https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1155284.msg15608268#msg15608268Just replace 127.0.0.1 with your local IP if you mine from more computers in LAN. Just in this case you will not see detailed stats about mining. So I recommend you mine on some mining pool for example http://shf.miners-zone.net where you can compare with other miners and monitore your workers over JSON stats.

I know pow/pos is a little ways away but i think it is important pos stays in a supporting role of pow. Maybe an 80/20 split reward for pow/pos. Pos consensus, in my opinion, should not be the central consensus algorithm for cryptos. As we have seen with eth that any large thefts threaten a pos system or future pos system and i don't want to see that happen to shift.

Hey guys,
I found a flaw in my mpos implementation that actually paid out some rounds too low, i'm currently going through my database and I'm re-crediting the accounts that actually missed some coins so you should have some nice plus balances within the next 2-3 days ! Stay tuned and thanks for patience !

That's a very generous move, happy to see there's still integrity in crypto

I left ETC to do EXP..which is good, but takes a lot of hashing to pay a little Expanse...I went to shift again (mined it before)...almost none of the pools are working...I went to Bitcause and have 396 Shift 'stuck' there...I see others have abandoned that pool with balances unpaid too. Not sure you can help, but I liked this coin from the beginning...can you get my coins from Bitcause?? Also, now I'm on some obscure Russian pool with one other worker?? Where are the pools? Is this coin just about to die? I searched for ages to get a pool to mine on...hope this one pays out my coins...I don't want to waste another 12 hours mining only to have my coins 'stuck' on a pool...also, Suprnova pool has been 'down' for Shift for over a day doing 'maintenance'...I feel this coin may be on it's last legs...is that right? Please tell us so us miners don't waste our hashing on a coin that is not being supported, but is dying...a list of actual working pools would be greatly appreciated...I see the coin is still listed on Bittrex..which doesn't surprise me..they aren't discriminating in what coins they support. Shift is a coin (like ETC) that I want to like...but seems terribly neglected by the devs and pools.

Join our Slack for your problem with Bitcause, you'll get help from them directly, and I can assure you that it will be solved since bitcause team is made of great guys. As for pools being down. I clicked the first 5 links in OP, and all are up, at least the sites are. Everyone can verify that on their own...

How does Shift compare to Expanse? I own both coins, and am not interested in mudslinging, just a simple comparison.
Thanks

Hi adhittana, that isn't an easy to answer questions, because apart from the underlying economic or ideological decisions, as pointed out one post prior, there's no real comparison benchmark to apply and I don't like seeing both the projects as competing investments. It's like you're asking how a car compares to a phone. The argument often given by us as a measure of development quality and quantity is that we have a lot more contributions to our codebase than the other Ethereum forks, which would be the only hard fact you could base a comparison on. As for the soft facts: I am not really keeping up with Expanse's development in detail, but personally I'm not too optimistic about a blockchain governance system in a real world scenario due to the legal framework surrounding it, whereas I can always see our consumer facing product of a decentralized, uncensorable and most of all free blockchain based internet apply to user demand on a global scale. And besides, the possibility of adopting similar functionality like Expanse, Factom or Augur is on the table for SHIFT and makes much more sense as we can offer a greater level of decentralization. I gave the following insight to a community member in our Slack recently. [11:21] shift is building a complete infrastructure of user hosted web services attached to a blockchain [11:22] as it is now, if you want to host a website or blog or your own shop, you would have to go to a domain provider, buy a domain, get web space, pay rent, etc. [11:23] with shift this service will be "shifted" to the users [11:23] e.g. anyone running phantom is both user as well as web space provider for phantom [11:24] when you create a site on phantom, the content gets distributed across the whole network, your "domain" is your wallet's public key, alternatively you will be able to register a top level domain (e.g. myblog.shift) for a very small fee to avoid spam [11:24] now when someone visits your site, they download the content from you [11:25] this happens with several users, the more ppl visit your website the more it will be stored across the network [11:25] so at some point when ppl visit your site, they won't be downloading the content from you but from their next peers [11:26] now this is the basic idea and it will enable us to bring marketplaces, shops, blogs and all kinds of sites to phantom, while simultaneously using the benefits of our native blockchain token
I hope that gives you an idea what SHIFT is and how we see ourselves compared to other projects. If you have any further questions, feel free to join us on Slack for a little chat

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE #4 | AUG 14
Time has been passing and we have been silent but things have been progressing steadily over the last weeks since the last release. Looking at what we have accomplished so far and the team we have built we feel now is the best time to carry our vision towards the public, increasing interest into our product as we move closer to a state where developments can really showcase the idea behind SHIFT and Phantom.
Starting this will be a new release available over the next days (likely early this week) containing some incredibly useful features as outlined below.
Going forward from here we will be targeting increased efforts into marketing, while still remaining a fast pace for development releases.
- SHIFTHUB
The upcoming release for ShiftHub will see two additions: a simple site creation wizard that helps users easily deploy a template on Phantom, as well as our dns implementation utilizing a smart contract that will simplify browsing Phantom. Instead of cryptic hash addresses users can simply register a name similar to traditional top level domains, i.e. myblog.shift. We are looking to expand the list of domain endings to reflect the classic structure of the world wide web (commercial, organisations, etc.).
Site creation will currently be limited to a simple template, but we are looking at several options to help users create and publish high end websites with easy to use building tools, able to compete with any modern website.
- PHANTOM
To increase response time when completing different actions on ShiftHub, Ajax calls for the GUI were replaced with websockets to make it much faster. User experience when interacting with Phantom and ShiftHub should feel no different than using fast responding software on your local machine.
- IMPROVED ANN THREAD
We have talked to a select number of community members and have listened to your requests and feedback. Over the next days we will roll out an improved first page for our thread containing much more information about our project, our intent and our short and long term goals. The update will go live within the next days.
- TWITTER CAMPAIGN
As previously hinted at we will be starting a viral marketing campaign on Twitter where you can win coins in return for promoting SHIFT among your followers. Please note that this will not be a standard giveaway and has been in preparation for some time. The campaign will start after the previously mentioned releases.
