Before Leverkusen became what they are now Dortmund were the closest rivals to Bayern Munich and they were the only team before that who were even a little bit better than Bayern Munich. But this season and the season before that Dortmund lost their ability to compete and now they are in the top 10 of the table. With the defeat they got in the last game it seems difficult for Dortmund to catch up to the top three this season and automatically if they fail they will not play in the Champions League next season.

Dortmund fell down too fastly after their success two seasons ago. No title two seasons ago but they came very closely to Bundesliga title and Champions League title, they lost all at the final days of Bundesliga and Champions League. It still shown their high quality but two seasons later, they are no longer a challenger against Bayern Munich for Bundesliga title, it's big fall from Dortmund.
