It was very sad to watch Wolfsburg relegated from the Bundesliga, their performance was poor since the start of the season. It were not for the red card they received in the first half they wouldn?t have been relegated because they were better than Paderborn where completed on the pitch. It was their last chance to stay in the league but they bottled it. They have to compete in the Bundesliga two next season, and I doubt them to get back to the Bundesliga next two seasons with this squad.

However, if Wolfsburg had managed to win the first leg at home, they wouldn?t have been relegated as well, but they drew the first leg, while I assumed Paderborn had the home advantage to win the second leg. Despite with the early red card, Wolfsburg managed to maintain the 1-1 for the whole ninety minutes before the extra time and concede the last goal. I hope the management invest in the club next season.

We already have a new team for the upcoming season. The first leg ended in a 0-0 draw, but Wolfsburg could not escape the second leg. Wolfsburg looked helpless against Paderborn's dominance at home. Although Wolfsburg took the lead early in the match, they could not hold on to that lead for long. That is why an extra 30 minutes was added to decide the outcome of the match. It’s really touching because Wolfsburg is indeed a legendary team, it had brought out some very vital players to the world of football and this season they deleted back to Bundesliga 2, I don’t blame anyone for this more than the management, they are not more investing in the team that much and we all know that football is now all about money invested to sign players that will win you games and titles, but the legendary club we used to know as the best team in the Bundesliga in the past two decades is now relegated.

That was in the past times has changed and Wolfsburg needs to understand it. Football business is just like any other business which needs investment Wolfsburg has not done enough in terms of investment input to the team. With the quality of team that Wolfsburg has currently they can't survive the Bundesliga and it has played out . You’re right, based on the performance they had this season, Wolfsburg deserved to be relegated. They finished 16th in the table and their only chance of staying in the Bundesliga, they still bottled it a defeat against Paderborn. Wolfsburg had a higher net spending than Bayern last season. Now if you leave aside transfer income and just take what they spent, they are 6th last season with roughly 70 million euros spent. Bremen spent 10 million, Köln 25 million and HSV 16 million and they all got along with that money. It is not only about pouring money into the team and buying players left right and center, it is about putting together a real unit along with a good coach and if you look back, Wolfsburg has never really been able to sort that out. In other words, I doubt if Wolfsburg doubled their spending that they would have made it.

Although they may maybe able to subdue lower division and have easy promotion following season, such relegation is a big spott on the history of the club, totally wasted year that will cost club millions of dollars in revenue and reputation.
I think that it is good idea to use moment of hitting rock bottom as wake up call and time of total cultural re setting. Existing team has appeared totally soulless, and the fact that the administration made poor choices in regard to transfers in past few seasons was direct cause of this debacle. Stuccoing holes with ad hoc only solutions will not suffice any more. Board must clear the grime out of the house, the deadwood in the squad and bring in management team with long term and clear vision.

A team like Wolfsburg doesn't deserve to be relegated, they have a strong legacy in the Bundesliga, their fate this season is similar to Tottenham Hotspur, the difference is that Tottenham Hotspur played better at the end of the season which allowed them to survive to play in the PL next season. However, they had done the best they could, but it turned out that their efforts were not enough.

Yeah that was i mean to say in my post, worst of all for them is sometimes anyone could think is easy to comeback to first division but when you start to play in second division things could start to develop in a hard mode, look at Leicester for example they are now 2 divisions down, you need to cut that death spiral the fastest you can before it is too late, so i really hope to see them coming back soon to the Bundesliga.

I do not think the selection is done based on statistics alone if it happens that the winner must be a champions league finalist, because that will sound like it is by meeting certain criteria of which statistics alone may not fit in exactly. There are players who has been exceptional in the champions league who would have gotten it but their team could not make it to the finals, so i think it is more about certain criteria than statistics.
