Based on the poor campaign Wolfsburg had this season it was obvious they were going to get relegated but I believe they would still find their way back to the bundesliga because that's what they have been doing for the past two seasons, I think the problem of this club has to do with leadership because there seems to be no form of consistency in this club anymore, several years ago they were not just competing for the title, but you would see them playing in the UCL and at the highest level until they began to decline gradually.

I am always surprised when i see a team with that kind of value go down to the lower league, i don't understand how something like that can happen, but i think that gradually for them to return to the top league is much easier for other teams that are struggling to get up, however they are strong.

It was a surprising season for Wolfsburg officially relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time after losing in the playoffs to Paderborn. Wolfsburg had been a regular in the Bundesliga for over two decades, but this season they were relegated to the second tier after a poor season. Yes, Wolfsburg was the most exciting team in the Bundesliga even winning the Bundesliga in 2008/09, when Dzeko, Grafite, Barzagli, Hasebe and others played for them.

Paderborn looked really like they deserved it, they were much better team. This is the momentum difference, one team was third in their league, the other were sixteen, and that is a good reason why that this was the result.

I understand one played in bundesliga and other played in bundesliga 2, but when you put a team that lost most of their games versus a team that won most of their games, that momentum matters unless we are talking about like 3 league differences, we are talking about just couple teams down, there are like four teams between them in reality, so that momentum mattered. I do hope that this gets better with time for Wolfsburg and they come back quicker, because they were liked very much in this league.

Going by what you just said, it means clubs like Atletico Madrid that lost two UCL finals to Real Madrid should be referred to as a dumb team, Borussia Dortmund also that lost a UCL finals to Bayern Munich should called a dumb team because they failed to achieve their expectations as at when due? team like Arsenal that lost to Barcelona should also be called a dumb team? there are several other suitable words you could have used that doesn't necessarily need to sound derogatory or insulting to the team, if you had used the word "mediocre" it would have made more sense.

There are many strong teams and other teams which knows how to perform well but they sudden meet with an unplanned situation and results into a bad results. But I think it doesn't mean that the team should be called as a dumb team. This is not a suitable or not an appropriate word to call someone. This also true that the expectations of the fans matter a lot and it rely turned into a disappointing situation when the expectations don't match with the reality. Instead of this the teams  should try to underline such factors which are responsible for their great failure. Because its is very necessary if any team wants to improve and avoid failures they need to analyse themselves. This is the best and mist affecting way to get success and to keep themselves on the right path.

The game of football is mostly judged based on goals to ascertain a winner and that is why defence will always be an important aspect of any teams strength, any team that neglects their defence will suffer so much for the rest of the season because they will concede more goals than they will score and that means they are going to loose more and never have the chance of even a decent finish, wolfsburg can go ahead to work on their defence if they want better results.

But these teams need to fight for bigger goals; only then could they compete with Bayern.

Spending too much on them will not get the team to European competitions, but will only make the team face a financial crisis and break them in the end. If they are not even careful, they will end up as a relegation team. Teams like Mainz and others are supposed to improve gradually, as they will make significant improvements slowly. Because having bigger goals will break them instead of improving them.

There are of course historical examples of good teams that had bad seasons and went down, just like how the Bundesliga 2 champions Schalke did a few years ago. But that doesn't mean that it is not surprising anytime it happens.

People are of course shocked when they learn a team that reached UCL levels only the past 5 years, become a team that also went down as well. Like how Tottenham won Europa last season, and almost went down this season, these are things that are not common, so we are shocked when we see it.

I don't think there's any argument to this, the facts are there to speak for itself, I don't use to see the German bundesliga that competitive, because it has always been bayern, aside the one Leverkusen won and presently Bayern has taken over again, is just like the French league where PSG it has been PSG for a very longtime, anyone that comes out to say that PSG will dominate the league next season shouldn't be doubted because it keeps happening every year, although the might not be good from the start but at the end the title still goes to them, as for the UEFA champions league, we don't know what will happen but it is more likely to very tough because even most of the teams that made it to the champions league next season are very tough in their league side, let's see what happens then.
