Sorry for being late with the count. d4 remained the clear winner by votes Team Monero (white pieces) vs. Team Boolberry (black pieces)black to move 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 Based on the votes in this thread Team Monero has chosen to play d4 Now it is time for Team Boolberry to respond. Votes will be counted at 0:00 UTC tomorrow. Since I was 2 hours late with the count Team Boolberry only gets 22 hours to reply this time. I doubt anyone will object based on how early we are in the game. Based on the rules in the OP if votes are counted well after 0:00 UTC technically the other team should be getting another day to respond. As the position becomes more complicated and in cases when I fail to count votes on time either team can claim this extra time if it wishes. Most days I expect to be able to count votes reasonably close to 0:00 UTC.

my vote goes to Kb1-c3
This may seem strange to those that can spell but in chess notation we use the "N" for knight since "K" is used for the king. It looks like we are headed for an open sicilian despite the wishes of you and ArticMine. I recommend cxd4 as blacks third move.

I was considering changing my vote but I guess it wouldn't have mattered even if I hadn't missed the deadline. If there is a discussion after the game I will explain my reasoning. Onward we go in any case.

Definitely no need for a time extension on this move I vote cxd4 and will be shocked if the move does not capture most or all of the votes

Lucky for Qxd4 voters I happen to be watching the World Cup Finals live online right now. Peter Svidler just played Qxd4 in the same position http://www.bakuworldcup2015.com/content/5I vote 4.Qxd4 in the spirit of the World Cup

I am still studying the paper, but must say the more I learn about elliptic curves the more interested I become.

WARNING! The vote is currently tied at 3-3. Hopefully someone new comes along to break the tie for Team Monero before 0:00 UTC to avoid any delays.

If you have a strong preference for one move over the other it might be helpful to provide your reasoning in attempt to influence other voters.

We need a tie breaking mechanism. For example one can look at the result before the vote that led to the tie and use that instead.

That sounds like a fair idea to me. Hopefully it will not come to that and the vote count changes in the next few hours.

We are now a few hours past UTC and the vote is still tied. If everyone could agree on a proposal like this we can proceed. Or another voter can break the tie. Anyone can calculate the result the above proposal would lead to for this move. Please try to decide on whether the tiebreak proposal by ArticMine is appropriate or not without taking into account the 4th move it would lead to in this game.

I think in this particular instance since the situation of the tie occurred before a rule was proposed, a more fair method to resolve this tie is with a randomizer (for example last bit of a future Bitcoin block hash). Adopting the proposed rule going forward would be fine though.
