People probably run scared because it is an internet thing.  In a way it is understandable because a hacker can steal all your money in a matter of seconds.

I think it's because they either heard something negative about bitcoin
or they find it hard to understand how bitcoin works and they would rather stick with whatever they are used to.

Yeah negative news but also fear. Since it's new and they don't understand it.
It's logical too. If you are an outside and think of machines making money you will laugh about it

That's true but sometime I feel that we are also responsible for stopping people from using or earning bitcoins as we don't want that everyone around us should start earning bitcoins and should know about bitcoins, we don't introduce them to bitcoins in a proper way, may be our selfish nature or whatever it may be, on one hand we say that more and more people should get into bitcoins and on other hand we don't want that should be aware what we are earning.

You're asking a very complex question. This question can not be answered with a reason or two. There are many factors in play. Maybe Bitcoin is still too complex for some people. Besides, the majority are ignorant and closed-minded (change is hard to accept).
Current trend is still towards getting their stash and hoarding, so obviously you don't see people using it to buy any tangible items, which also mainly because there's not many of these shops around which will allow you to buy with bitcoin but not fiat. Getting paid in btc is also another reason as there is not many companies that are actually doing it.

Yeah and it is really difficult to change the mindset of people as people resist change, they are so used to fiat currency that they hesitate in learning something new things and they also don't have faith in crypto as they believe how you can make money out of a digital currency and that is the one of the reason people are not using bitcoins.

That would be hard for a simple hacker to just hack bitcoin like that or that would be an idiot person who would tell his/her password. Maybe for some great hackers they can do it but not for everyone.

The liquidity of bitcoin is stopping many newbies to get into the markets to buy and invest.
They think this is just a scheme and nothing.

It must be lack of awareness about the bitcoin is problem to reach the people around the world. Atleast need the social media light on bitcoin to make it fame around the people. Else we have share to our known people. When we can.

When I first heard of bitcoin, i was never impress because of the word "COIN" to it. I was just thinking these are just pennies.
And the fact that I don't understand how to use the wallet simply made me shy away.  The news about its value made me think of gaining btc though.

I think what's make people stop using bitcoin is when the bitcoin price going really really down like $50. Or there's someday another cryptocoins born and being popular like bitcoin.

If someone really get into bitcoin they'll bought bitcoin at this current price like what just happen few months back when price down into 200$ and go up after that to 500$, this situation really give you big chance

Bitcoin price can not predict. If bitcoin price down you can buy bitcoin cheapest and then hold and save bitcoin until the price increases high in dollars

People probably run scared because it is an internet thing.  In a way it is understandable because a hacker can steal all your money in a matter of seconds.

I agree with you. Some think it is just an artificial money though that it cannot be used in the real world. But they just have to try it to see what is really going on. Lack of experience can also be a problem to why they cant start.

The problem is also people think it is money for criminals. Therefore they think they should avoid it. Which is quite sad actually.
Let's hope this will change in the near future.

I'm pretty sure one of the biggest problem is that is actually hard to buy bitcoins, for example with visa/mastercard, there are not many trusted websites that you can go and just buy bitcoins without first validating your account with id and bla bla. Localbitcoins is also a poor choice, again the same problems + insane prices compared to the market.

Funny though, since one could easily argue that fiat is money for criminals (banks/gov)

Beware of scammers.

There is a lot of trusted exchange sites selling Bitcoin online like Localbitcoins, Coinbase, and so on.
But the problem this exchange sites don't offer their services worldwide usually and there is some payment methods (like Paypal for example) not available worldwide as well

That is very true. I am slowing getting some of my friends to at least become more educated about Bitcoin. It is hard sometimes to explain Bitcoin in a way that doesn't sound like it is some sort of scam.

Beware of scammers.

There's still a lot of people that don't understand about bitcoin.

Maybe if we spread the news about bitcoins, it will attracts more people. After that, more people will use bitcoin.
