I think it's not about what's stopping people from using bitcoin but rather what is encouraging them to use bitcoin, I think if there are discounts or the like then it would be more encouraging for them to use it.
yeah agree with you because we rarely see someone stop using bitcoin. it rarely happens right ?
which they feel is grateful for can join in bitcoin. when prices are low like this Cheesy

Now the scenario doesn't encourage people to enter bitcoin. They themselves need to enter by learning rather than some external force. This normally happens when we have the option to use bitcoin everywhere.

That's actually a very good point. Credit card adoption went through the roof starting in the mid 1990s when card providers were offering cashback on the sales. Before that people preferred to use cash. Soon as cashback was offered, people switched all their spending to the card to get the maximum cashback they could.

So after reading this article and especially the ending:

Quote
One thing is for certain: having made Bitcoin less of a security worry, transparency will now be key in attracting users to new models, placing control of funds and fees in an upfront way in their own hands.

I'm wondering what's stopping people from using bitcoin?

And now I'm talking about people who already aware of bitcoin and how it works but still not using it.

The price is now pretty much stable for more then a year, security issues are out of the question - so why we can't see in 2015 more companies switching to it, especially considering the unstable condition of moden economy?

Without bothering to be certified at Coinbase/Circle, it is way too hard to purchase Bitcoins online.

Indeed, not many people even know it in my circle if I'm honest its just the publicity it need to get bigger and used more.
I'm very sure if the market is gonna get more users the stores are gonna used it and more users will come from that again, its just a round circle, there is no marketing and its also not a real currency's some people do not trust it.

I would say the wait times. The confirmation times mean that you can't use them in physical stores. Sometimes I have have to wait 1 hour for one confirmation, and this is not viable in the physical market.

Probably the lack of motivation, People don't do things for no reason at all, There is currently no motivation to use bitcoin generally and as soon as there is  a positive stimulation "like discounts etc..." people would use it.

I don't think lack of motivation can be the reason, because most of the people are not aware of bitcoin and it's advantages that we may have in near future i think that is the main reason why people are not using bitcoin now.

Bad information leaked by media is one way that people are thinking of using bitcoin. Very bad advertisements can really lead to a fall of one currency.

Maybe the only reason people do not want to use bitcoin is because they dont wanna try it and still wanted to proceed to the old fashioned way of currency. There might also be because they only trusted the currency that they are using and they dont think the benefits that it can brought to them..

There are old people that already know several things as their son made them to learn at some point, sure they are the group that has a balanced finances, but why would they go to bitcoin as they get all beneficts with fiat system.Bitcoin isnt for everybody, because the most are ready to understand what it is,soo the darkeness about what is bitcoin is one of the main reasons, one strong too is that media expose bitcoin to dark markets .

That is right. There is one that helps people using their bitcoin. I think it is called BitGive just like NBA Cares where its funds are for charity use and the money donations are from bitcoin currency.

Believe it or not media has indeed succeeded in making bitcoin be bad in the eyes of society, I ever met someone and they spoke that bitcoin currency is illegal you'd be in jail if used it

Price Fluctuation is the major issue here, volatility is the major concern that people are staying away from bitcoins, if this issue is solved than we can see many new investors entering into the world of bitcoins.

I really agree with you. Price is the most giving affect why people stop using bitcoins. Like last year, when the price go really down around $200+, there are many people stop using bitcoins.
agree with you fluctuations really makes a person is not interested in joining in bitcoin many people think that it is very risky to invest in bitcoin. bitcoin can make your money decreases maybe it was their thinking. That's why gold is more popular than bitcoin. because gold does not have a high fluctuation

agree with you most bitcoin users are young they join with bitcoin because they want to earn money and profit. but that was not a problem parents will begin to be replaced and young people who use bitcoin will appear and introduce bitcoin

It is probably because they can't see the money or hold it making them perceive it does not exist someone can steal it easily.

Yeah right. If you show them how many your bitcoin is they just like ignore it. But if you show them how much it is worth that $ are twinkling in their eyes.  People still see money either it is dollar or euro. Pfft.

Probably the lack of motivation, People don't do things for no reason at all, There is currently no motivation to use bitcoin generally and as soon as there is  a positive stimulation "like discounts etc..." people would use it.

There is definitely some of that, it's hard for people to change their ways when there are no incentives or obvious benefits to motivate them.
But I still think the main problem right now is volatility. Lay people won't even consider it as a replacement for paper money because the price fluctuations can be extreme and are way too unpredictable. When you have to pay bills or feed a family, you can't afford to not know how much money you have in your pocket.
The time you take to enjoy a beer in a bar could be enough for the $100 worth of Bitcoin in your pocket to drop to $85 or less. Now imagine you're in a restaurant, you've enjoyed your meal and when you pay your $95 bill and tell the waiter to keep the $5 change, the guy says hmm I'm sorry sir but you've just given me $85  Cheesy
