Come from behyind, so you say that once all the upgrades are done we will be able to recover our iotas, even those who had iota stored in wallet 2.3 with old seed?
Can you please show me a link to where this announcement was made.We really need help because there are so many people having this old/new seed transition problem.
Thanks

The announcement wasn't made yet.

Hi Come from beyond, it would be cool if iota-wallet.org could have a feature where we can transition from old seed to new seed. That would make transitioning quicker and simpler. Many problems with desktop wallet.

I think cfb has no relation with iota-wallet.org

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

trading volume IOTA is huge and is included in the top 10 in marketcap. But although the volume of trade transactions on the market is quite large, why not listing om bittrex and poloniex ? Please who knows the reason why can be like that explain to me. Thanks.

Because IOTA is a new technology and it takes time for the exchanges to code and test the integration. But people have been saying that several exchanges are working on it at this moment.
Thank you the information you explained.
This new innovation in the world of cryptocurrency , I will buy and save some IOTA For the long term.

I regret I banned SatoNatomato. He posts such gems...

No, I didnt miss the boat on iota, I bought some a year ago by mistake before digging into the technical details, and sold on bitfinex

So you were holding iotas for 9 months and still trash talking about IOTA. You should check your balls, if they are not of steel then check your head.  Cheesy

As soon as I get my monies I will be definitely start investing in MIOTA. But as with the majority, I yearn for a much more better wallet system for this coin. Anyway I will try the ones that was mentioned earlier here.

I just bought 160 MIOTA because I really believe in this technology. I wonder if there are any realistic forecasts for this coin? What do you guys think? Can this be similar succesfull than ETH (like 250 USD or something in a few years)?

Folks, I don't know whether its just me or it has something with the current state of the network... so I thought I would ask here, maybe someone has a solution:

few days ago I initiated a transaction, and it never confirms... I keep rebroadcasting that, and reattaching too (5 times already), all the attempts are shown in history as "pending" (they also show up with considerable delay - like 10 minutes after reattaching complete), but none of them seems to confirm.

I am using the latest 2.4.0 light wallet and I have moved my IOTAs to new seed - btw moving also took awhile, but finally confirmed in 1 day after 3 re-attachings. But this new transaction does not..!

Am I missing anything, and is there anything I can do to, to help it confirm?
Thanks for your help!
Just try another seed (Tools--Edit node configuration), for example service.iotasupport.com, and reattach again.

Thanks for your help! I tried 3-4 other hosts (such as service.iotasupport.com, iotatoken.nl, eugine.iotasupport.com, iota.bitfinex.com), and keep reattaching that transaction, but still no joy! Undecided
It keeps staying in pending state for many days now. I tried to make another [conflicting] transaction now, but they both are hanging in "pending" state.
All the new receiving addresses I try to attach to tangle, are also hanging in "pending" state. I am now trying to use the wallet with the same seed on another PC, but things seem to be staying the same.

Am I really the only one with such issue? Is everyone able to send/receive without problems now?

Will it help if I switch to full node? CfB, could you please help with some advice?

The server may not be synced all time. When you connect to the server, let you wallet run for 20 minutes. When you make transactions or reattach, you need to check if your wallet is synced or not. Check the bottom left corner, there are several numbers. Make sure the first two numbers are same. Otherwise wait for the becoming same. But again, the server may not keep synced all time and you should always check the syncing status when making reattach or transactions. For now you just need to reattach. Do it once every 30 minutes. Don't do it more frequently. You will be fine.

For more help, you probably should post a screen shot of your history.

Thanks a lot for your tips!! After getting encouraged by your post, I kept trying it all the different ways, and finally resolved it (though I still do not understand how this could happen).

I am reporting this here, just so if anybody happens in the same situation, he would know what to do.
It looks like the issue was either my IP address or ISP, or placement in the network. As soon as I tried to use the wallet from a different PC at different network (actually at the same ISP, but other, residential segment), the issue resolved itself! When trying on different PC's, but being behind the same IP address (NAT router), the wallet wasn't able to attach anything to tangle. Iteresting enough, it was able to do that before - nothing has changed in our network since.

Now I have to admit, I do not understand how that could happen, because I was running wallet in the light mode, so the only node I was connecting, was the 'service.iotatoken.com' - at both places, but facts remain the same - as soon as I changed the IP, problem have resolved.

No good thoughts on that. Extraordinary skills are required to get what the problem is.

CfB, I hope this will help you develop your extraordinary skills even further Smiley

Is not bitfinex safe for IOTA trading? Or are you waiting for an exchange like bittrex and poloniex to add IOTA? Yes I never remember if in bitfinex often a problem, therefore I further avoid far from bitfinex.

Secure seeds can be generated on https://iotaseed.io!

They're based on mouse entropy, and paper wallets can be generated too!

...Or you can type your own seed... It's not hard... 81 uppercase letters and a few 9's mixed in. Grin

Not saying this guy is a scammer... but DO NOT trust anyone with your seed unless you see the source code or create it yourself!!!

Literally just 81 random characters, A-Z and 9s

Let us take a look at that,
Code:
-join ([char[]](65..90+57..57)*100 | Get-Random -Count 81)
Is weak because of the low entropy originating from Get-Random, which looks to be deterministic?

Actually I don't know it's inner workings. Might get seeded by systemclock only, then refeeding last cycle output into it again and again, seen similar in a Lehmer RNG. And there had not been that many seconds in existance between hitting Bitfinex, and today at noon. A month has (365/12)*24*60*60=2,627,994 seconds which are walked throu in a half minute.
But brute force testing each resulting adress using a lightnode wallet still takes ages. You would have to regenerate 50~100 adresses from resulting seed, and connect & shutdown from the node.
At least some node operators might ring the alarm bell.

My own concern, having used a BMTKRG ("blind monkey typing keyboard random generator") and then uppercasing the mess, replacing impossible chars with 9s ... there are low entropy string parts possible, too. But true randomness requires substrings like KJDSBIIUUUUJBHDS, too. How secure are "blank parts" like LUSDHG999999999999999999SDKLGJB ?
