hey all, one question - today I saw a tweet which wrote that the IOTA team is developing there own cryptographic algorithms. I am not able to find the tweet again, but I want to ask you here if this is true.
Are they realy thinking that a new cryptographic algorithm needs to be developt within the IOTA project - if yes: why?
This? Quantum-immunity: IOTA utilized a newly designed trinary hash function called Curl, which is quantum immune (Winternitz signatures) Thanks for posting. Did somebody already some deeper research about Curl. I see it as a huge risk, if the devs are doing their own hash functions. Are they already proven as save? (Better not quantum immune but mathematically correct/save) SHA algo is greater risk because was made by NSA and has their backdoors

If the context David added is true, then it is the right decision to stop cooperation. There is a conflict of interests when he is also concerned about other projects. They should find a PR professional, who is concerned exclusively with IOTA in the crypto world.

So if you hold 1Giota.. what do you all think that will be the price in 10 years?
either 0 or >100.000. I think there will be no middle way. Either mass adoption or dead. Winner takes it all

It must be profitable to do so. Well, eventually the ICO hype will died down and it's only a temporary gig in which he chose to maximize.

I hope IOTA would hire a Wallet Developer instead of all those marketing guys. I understand marketing is important but we also want to see progress on the tech site. It is not that IOTA is not considered Alpha anymore with all these snapshots and wallet transitions. No moon without a stable and reliable network.

Both is needed. But I think marketing and application guys are more important because they have to win some big companies for IOTA. Imagine if they get some big ones, which will use Iota. Boom...

hello, i have a problem, can anyone pls help me?
i had iota since the end of july, i have made the update with no problems, that was more than a mounth ago and today i entered my iota wallet and i have 0 balance. I had version 2.4 and today, after i saw zero balance i have installed version 2.5.1.1 and i have 0 balance and no transaction history. what is happening?
You need to create as many addresses as you had in your old wallet before to let your balance show up. Jesus... Stuff like this must really depress this coins price currently. The potential is amazing. But all I ever see is problems with wallets everywhere. From the official wallet to the wallets on exchanges. Problems problems problems. I have to agree with the guy who says he wishes they hired wallet devs instead of marketing atm. A seamless and attractive wallet app with no bugs or issues is so insanely attractive in crypto these days... No one wants to keep their coins on exchanges because of wallet issues.

Imagine that we published Curl analysis a year ago, how would we be able to use the copy-protection then?

The current wallet works, but some people can't get their coins because there was one transition that was particularly complicated. If you merely ignored your wallet for a couple of weeks at the wrong time, or didn't understand the urgency of that migration, you would now be unable to access your coins. This is a coin not ready for general use. We still have the coordinator running the show. It's really an alpha project for computer/crypto enthusiast who can navigate such complexities without getting tangled up in their own shoelaces, to coin a phrase.
