Basketball is not about shooting from long distance. It was the worst all star match in years. Nobody defended, there was no excitement, they just dribbled and scored. If I thought it would be this boring I wouldn't watch it at all. Even last year's match was better, there was at least some competition. This time it was really bad

I don't think we can bring back the days when players are competitive during this event. Team Management will always try to protect their players and I bet they already warned them to be careful in playing in an event that is no bearing. I mean, that will not give them any championships which means it will also not be for their own gains.

It's sad but it's the truth. Even since star players' contracts became 8 digits per year, the competition is gone in this All-Star event. We won't see any defense anymore because it might end up as a big mistake for them to get injured. Heck, even Lebron took a long rest in the fourth quarter because he ain't feeling good anymore.

I think the NBA management should just start focusing on the three-point shootout. I mean, that's the most fun of all from my own perspective. I like that close battle that ended up with a tiebreaker. Then, Steph and Sab also compete at a high level.
It's a different era now, we should really lower our expectations because we might not see that old All-Star anymore.

The All Star event is becoming a gathering of basketball stars in a single scene. But numerous fans are excited, they are attending and watching this once a year occasion. This implies that this generation of basketball fans has a different taste and they are alright with it.

I would be more entertained if the officials of the league exhibited the abilities of the players other than only basketball with no defense. Fresh idea you have, but I don't think people came to see them. It's an NBA All-Star, meaning all-star players of the NBA gather and compete as a team. The word "compete" was missing in the actual All-Star game, to be honest.

That's the essence of "competition." Curry loves a challenge. If Curry had been the one to start the shooting first, the outcome might have been different. The thing is, Sabrina started, and Curry had already seen how many points he had to beat. Knowing his competitiveness and winner mentality, he loves to take clutch shots and win, and that's exactly what he did during that competition.

I think the only perks in this All-Star are the funny moments of the players.

Luka Doncic missed a dunk. It was so bad, like the Draymond Green short dunk.
Nikola Jokic trying to make a highlight dunk, yes that was funny too.
Tyrese Haliburton trying to revive the Jason Williams pass using the elbow.
The mic'ed up discussions, Lebron, Steph, and more.

And then the amazing start of Tyrese too, 5/5 threes until he did a heat check and missed.

I don't know what Lillard is thinking but he could easily give that All-Star MVP to Tyrese but I guess he badly wants the Kobe Bryant All-Star MVP award. Well, he got it. Perhaps next year he won't play like that anymore.
Let's just say it's an entertainment on offense. They won't play defense, this ain't the 90s anymore and they are more aware of their health than being competitive.

Yeah for me it should be Tyrese Haliburton is the MVP of this all star game. Man I know Dame got the most Point, but Man these guys who managed the choice MVP didn't look at the stat specially at FGM and FGA. Dame got something 50% field goal while Tyrese Haliburton almost 90% Field goal. Damian Lillard deserve that booed from the crowd of Indiana Pacers. Dame should volunteer to gave it to tyrese Haliburton who deserves the All-star MVP award. Anyway congrats on your winning bets.

I have seen a good suggestion to make it better. I have seen that maybe it should turn into USA vs World players next season to make it fun, and I think that is a wonderful idea. Maybe during the game players may not act like they care, but after a few wins from one side, the other side will care about it a lot for sure lol. Think about a team with Luka, Giannis, Jokic playing together, those guys would represent their own flags on their jerseys as well, and they will do their best without a doubt.

And in return, USA players would have to care, because if they lose then they are already in the USA, and they wouldn't want fans to hate them. This is actually a good idea that will make teams fight again, they will play defense, they will try to win for sure.

Well "almost 90%" is a little bit far fetched  , but yeah he definitely had a better shooting % than Dame.
Too bad they often go with the most points in that one, Haliburton would also have deserved it of course but in the end the most points (for the winning team) count, nobody is really looking at the shooting % unfortunately.

Towns also was MUCH better with 50 points, he would also have won it, if the west didn't lose of course.

Well, thank god the letdown weekend is over and in some days it's business as usual again. Until then we only have NCAA and some qualifiers in Europe, not much going on.

With the increasing number of players outside the US, this might happen, but not now.
US Vs. the World isn't the solution for this boring all-star game. They should play like it's Game 7 of the NBA Finals. I miss the time when players are defending. I guess it's around the year 2000's when Kobe, MJ, AI, and others are still fighting for that win, and for sure, fans are way happier seeing their idol playing than compared to just shooting here, and there with no defense whatsoever.

Just based on that image alone, you can already see why the game ended up with 397 points in total. 3 fouls only for the whole game? I mean WTF!!! I guess it's good that I didn't watch it either or I might end up sleeping. Instead of me watching on the TV, the TV is watching me sleeping .

Overall, the all-star game is a complete embarrassment, but I don't see any changed in it for the next couple of years. This is the reason why people prefer watching Football or Soccer than Basketball.

Maybe there are few stars commit on dunk contest that's why we can see less names participate and people not feel satisfied with what they see. I think that's the reason why Jaylen Brown join on the dunk contest since he want to influence those other well known NBA player to participate and make the contest exciting.

I also want to see Ja participating and also Aaron Gordon since I think they are more entertaining to watch compare to those current participants.

If these two guys will participate I don't know if McClung will still be the Slam dunk champ. For Zion I think he's so heavy to do exhibition dunks.

That's the difference between a coach and a player because when a player suddenly doesn't play well after getting a huge contract, he will only be in the trading block. A good example of that is Jordan Poole, who wasn't contributing to his current team and still enjoying a good salary.

For coaches, they don't receive as much compared to the players, but they have no security as to how long they'll stay. I hope the NBA will change this because you never know what's the politics inside. At least give them some security since they aren't paid as much as some high-earning NBA players.

Also, they can pull strings to invite other international players who are not playing in the NBA. It will probably cost some money but if the pay-per-view is successful then they will get it all back.

And, how many years has it been that the All-Star have been called lame? It's been too long and I think your idea will probably boost the number of fans not just in the USA but in the whole world.
They call an NBA championship a world champion, so why not prove to the world that they can also make a one-event competition where popular players from other countries could join? I like the idea a lot and it should happen next year.

I agree. Tyrese Haliburton is shooting light out and he had a higher shooting percentage than Dame even though he made that half-court shot. It's not amazing for me anymore because they already did that last year.
Also, did you see Tyrese just standing on the side after their offense or after Dame shoots? I think he also felt like it was being robbed from him intentionally so he won't get back on defense anymore.

Dame was really aiming for that MVP as he was trying so hard. He could have given that to Brown since he had already won the 3-point contest. LOL... but maybe that was his first time winning an MVP award in an all-star game, and he grabbed the opportunity. With lots of dissatisfaction from the fans, I hope the NBA will be able to see and make some changes in the next all-star game so it will not end up being another boring game.

The entertainment will only be possible if they play some defense, but no, they seem to be enjoying the game without being competitive. They make shots and do some layups with opponents not defending; they just trade baskets, and whoever gets the best shooting percentage wins. Every all-star game gets boring and boring; this is already alarming.

Yeah it wasn't that fun.  I watched the three point contest as well as Curry versus Caitlin Clark deal, then the All-Star game itself the next day.  It just doesn't have that feel of all star games of old.  I also of course picked the West to win the game being that their team was just absolutely stacked, but that of course backfired.  I do believe the Easts score was the highest of all time lol.

What do you guys think about the 76ers vs Knicks game?

I think the 76ers have a decent chance to win this game. Even though they have lost against the Miami Heat by a close margin, you know they have been doing well in recent times. They have been able to win the two matches previous to that if I recall correctly.

Yes, they did lose against the Warriors pretty badly. And let's be honest, the 76ers were pretty trash in that match. And they were also lucky that Stephen Curry did not have a very big performances in that game.




But probably the biggest attraction is going to be the Lakers versus Warriors game on the 23rd February. I don't think anyone is going to miss that game.

By the way, I find it a little interesting that in the last match, the Warriors were able to win even though Stephen Curry did not score a lot of points but the match before that I think he got 40+ but they still ended up losing that game.

Two more days until the return of NBA basketball. I think I’m going through withdrawals. There haven’t been many moves as far as signing players either. Hopefully the players return refreshed and healthy to make a run into the postseason. I expected the Warriors to make some signings or something. Weird there aren’t more free agents finding homes.
