Im excited about this match-up with OKC and the Spurs, i would like to see how spurs players responds, since they are doing a rookie plays last year, this might put the spurs into a position thinking they have mature, lets see how they play this year.

Well, you can really expect that the Spurs have matured already since they have been in the Finals. That kind of experience is something they can bring into this season with more confidence. It's the first game of the season so I'm pretty sure they want to start strong. But OKC for sure will try to bounce back, so even if the Spurs will likely be the favorite I don't think OKC should be underestimated.

Exactly, they have been into the Finals so that is a good experience under their belt specially for their young core. So I also expect that they are going to mature this season and bring more confidence in every game.

Obviously, it will still be Wemby as their main scorer, but for sure most of their core will also improved for this season. I'm excited to see Harper develop more and being used more often so that he can really show his talent for this season.

OKC though have lost one of it's best defender in Dort, so it might have some impact on the team.

That is really a big loss for them since Dort has been so effective especially in the playoffs. His defense was really huge, even with some dirty tactics, and I would say without him OKC probably would not have won the championship before. I know they are stacked with talented players but Dort is built different, his energy on the court is something else. I don't know if there's anyone on the team who can really match that.

I think they can still have another defender, that is why they let Dort go and get draft picks they are preparing for the future the OKC got lots of picks that can continue their run for a few years, besides even though Dort did not play last west finals they are still a legit threat to the west.
I don't think they are going to have a big problem in the west unless the spurs, will stay the same and wemby is healthy until the end of the regular season, they also better be in a good position in the playoffs standing is one of the best strategy.

Interestingly, it is being reported that the NBA found no wrongdoing by Steve Ballmer in the Kawhi Leonard investigation. I’m not sure if this clears the team and everyone of wrongdoing or not, but I imagine by the end of the day a lot more details will be known. Still, this seems like good news for Kawhi and Steve.

Yep, the Spurs are still a young team, but at the same time, they rely heavily on how Wemby performs. I want to say that relying on just one player isn't the best solution because if Wemby were to get injured during the regular season and be sidelined indefinitely, the Spurs don't have the players on their roster who could step up and replace Wemby.

Wemby is getting better and the team will be getting built around him. I’m sure the Spurs will start attracting top tier free agents and will be able to trade for some good pieces in the future. It’s still too early for that dynasty to stack titles in much opinion, but it is clearly being built before our eyes.

Hopefully they learned from that and will come back stronger. This team is still young, so there is still a lot of room for improvement. Otherwise, if they still cannot win a ring, then all the hype will not mean much. There is still a big room for growth with this team, especially with Wemby. As long as he becomes more dominant inside, that's what I really want to see more from him rather than taking too many three-point shots.

I like how they're being built right now. Not that much superstar but their reliance and building through Wemby is becoming solid. Wemby alone has paid for Olajuwon's training per week with for $100k. And that's not on the cost of the team but his pocket, this kid is serious building himself along with the team and want to leave that legacy on the league. The notable other players that Olajuwon trained were the stars, LBJ, Kobe and Giannis.

They need to prove it first by winning a championship. They were close before, but they failed. Actually, they were even the favorite at that time, but their lack of experience really showed in that series.
They're very close at that time but the momentum was with the Knicks. Too many bad plays at that time and I think that Wemby experiencing that for the first time was okay and now he's learned, grown and matured so if ever they go back in the finals. I'd put money on the Spurs.

yes bad plays and posession where their mistake that is why the knicks capitalized in that mistakes, if only fox have done better as a point guard they would have been the one winning the championship, but aside from fox their coach were the one seeing what is going on in the court he could have done better and reminded them of what is happening maybe because he is also a rookie that is why he did not think that plays would cost them the championship, but this year is no excuse they have another shot.

yes bad plays and posession where their mistake that is why the knicks capitalized in that mistakes, if only fox have done better as a point guard they would have been the one winning the championship, but aside from fox their coach were the one seeing what is going on in the court he could have done better and reminded them of what is happening maybe because he is also a rookie that is why he did not think that plays would cost them the championship, but this year is no excuse they have another shot.

Fox was really the problem. The coach kept putting him in even though he was no longer producing. His attempts were high, but his accuracy was low, so in a way they were just giving more opportunities to their opponent.

Thats the problem when a coach trusts a player too much, sometimes they dont see that the player is already struggling. I think they should have limited his minutes more and tried something different.

They really should not waste that kind of opportunity because we never know if they will get another chance to reach the Finals again.

when i read many things about wemby i couldn't help but wish i could watch Wemby go head to head with Shaq. if only we had this matchup today. i’d back Shaq all day long, no matter what. Smiley
i reckon he’d send Wembanyama flying with that massive frame of his then hammer down a dominant, disrespect laden dunk right over him.

Well, if there were a one-on-one matchup between Shaq in his prime and Wemby, I personally would also bet on Shaq without a doubt. Although Wemby has a decent mid-range shot for a center, given his frail build, he wouldn't stand a chance against Shaq in the paint.

Yep, I saw this as well, but right now, the Clippers aren't clear yet because while they're already done with the "Aspiration" scandal, the league is examining on being guilty of "failure of supervising of their employees". LINK
Quote
The league is examining whether the Clippers are guilty of "failure to supervise" employees, though it's unclear what specific rule the team would have violated or what the penalties would be, two of the sources said.
TBH, I don't know what will be the outcome of this one, but one thing is for sure. The trade deal that has been frozen will be happening at least before the regular season starts. The spokesperson of the Clippers already declined to answer more question related to the incident, but the fact that they're clear means one thing. This will have a domino effect towards other teams, and there might be a point where we might see another incident like this in the future. I don't know, but that's just what I feel.

Overall, with this being done, and with Kawhi going to the Toronto, they are right now a force to be reckon with in the East alongside Philly, New York, and even Detroit.

If they were in the same era and they are going to be in a match up, even with shaq not on his prime, wemby will bounce like a ball, shaq is not taken lightly, in his prime wemby is going to be like bradley or any other tall player in his era, not to disrespect Wemby, but shaq will over power him, but if the calls are in this era then shaq will be most likely have lots of foul being given at the same time demolish players.

prime Shaq in the early 2000s was simply unstoppable. no single player stood a chance.
Wemby might have been the closest candidate to challenge him but his slim frame just wouldn't hold up. Shaq is easily the undisputed king of bully ball, back then, he was literally powering guys like Shawn Bradley straight into the rim.

Shaq is so unstoppable on his prime years. Also no one can match his energy and strength. That's why he's one of the most exciting player on mid 1900s to earl 2000s era.

But Wemby is built different although yeah he provably can't stop him, but for sure he can still make his life so difficult. Wemby have length, speed and shooting ability this can be his advantage against the prime Shaq.

We don't know what will truly happen if they meet up, but one thing is for sure people would truly enjoy watching them competing in court.

Wemby arrived in US back in 2023 as number one overall draft pick in NBA. Since then he is constantly proving himself as one of finest player of NBA and any team which has such player will depend on it. But if Spurs want to become number one team then Wemby need support of other teammates also. Spurs had a good last season by finishing second position in West Conference. With Wemby, I am sure Spurs will also do good in next season and they also learn from mistakes done in the final of 2026.

Jeanie Buss is going to war against her siblings to try and keep them from selling the remaining 17% ownership in the Lakers they still own. I don’t know what she can do to stop it, but she’s going to try. I think best case scenario for her would be keeping a tiny percentage while her siblings cash out.
