Jeanie Buss is going to war against her siblings to try and keep them from selling the remaining 17% ownership in the Lakers they still own. I don’t know what she can do to stop it, but she’s going to try. I think best case scenario for her would be keeping a tiny percentage while her siblings cash out.
The other siblings are selling and Jeanie might be worried that he will lose control of the decision being made by the team as they are required to have at least 15-17% part of the team, that would be a big difference, this is more likely about power and control over the organization, not the selling that the siblings are fighting as Jeanie were almost oust by her brothers the last time, having a share does not give me a control over what to do with the teams decision, that is why he is fighting for it.

I don’t know what she can do to stop it, but she’s going to try. I think best case scenario for her would be keeping a tiny percentage while her siblings cash out.
Jeanie Buss is contending that a court ruled in 2017 that no sale could be "effectuated without approval by the co-trustees, i.e. Jeanie, Janie and Joey Buss" -- meaning it would need her approval. In a letter sent to the siblings Monday, Jeanie's lawyer Adam Streisand demanded that the family "make clear publicly that Jeanie Buss is the Controlling Owner of the Los Angeles Lakers" and "take no action on this supposed 'vote' to sell the 17.8% stake." https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/49651586/five-buss-siblings-united-decision-sell-lakers-sharesThere seems to be a legal issue about approvals. Jeanie might still have a chance, but this is going to be a long fight and might cost her a lot of money instead of just keeping whatever is left. As you said, taking that tiny percentage, although she will lose being the governor of the franchise. I am somehow curious. Did LeBron James sniff this family dilemma, which made him decide to switch to another team? I mean, it's difficult to find any reason why LeBron did it because Doncic is there to help him out get another championship. I know the media says the Lakers did not offer anything or will put the salary cap to good use. But those are just to make it look good. Sometimes there are real reasons behind the scenes that will never come out in the news.

It is being reported that Shaquille O’Neal is the buyer for the Buss family stake in the Lakers. Not sure this really matters at all, but it is nice that the team will be staying in the Laker family. The NBA is having no shortage of drama these days. Nice the Lakers are always keeping things interesting.

Unfortunately, it's fake news, Shaquille O’Neal did not buy the Los Angeles Lakers, despite a viral social media report claiming the franchise legend had purchased the Buss family’s remaining shares.
The claim spread quickly on August 18 after The Box Score PH posted on Facebook, Instagram and Threads that O’Neal had purchased “all of the Buss family’s shares” and was set to become the Lakers’ next controlling owner. No credible outlet, NBA announcement or Lakers statement has corroborated that report. The timing, however, landed directly in the middle of a very real and unusually complicated fight over who will own the Lakers next. https://heavy.com/sports/nba/los-angeles-lakers/shaq-buys-lakers-report-false/Of course, it will be a good cinderella story if Shaq will be the buyer of the Los Angeles, or at least the minority stakes that still the Buss family have. But as what the article says, it hasn't been collaborated by any credible NBA news as of this time. And it looks like this is going to be a family drama as it's like Jeanie against his siblings on the decision to sell the remaining stake of the Buss family.

The reason why lebron sign with the lakers is they can easily attract stars in the market, but what happen in the last few years after the lockdown during the pandemic is, pelinca getting players that are past their prime or just a patching to the wholes, it wasted lebron james years, he could have sign with other teams or look for better teams with flexible assets for few years, but we can't blame him, Magic lure him there.

Unfortunately, it's fake news,
There are really lots of fake news these days. Just today I read a post saying Westbrook is coming back from retirement for one more run with OKC and will sign a $20 million contract. It came from this Facebook page. So we really need to be careful with what we read online. Some pages will post fake news just to attract views, reactions and followers.

Wtf, I thought that was the case as well, and tbh I did view that very post too a while ago This needs to be mass reported tbh, and I'll do my part for that. I haven't fact-checked that one, and tbh $20m is a lot for a vet contract, keen eyes should have spotted that too. It's really over for the guy, let him rest or do what he pleases. Or, if he can be a good addition to the coaching staff, that would be a perfect scenario for him.

I mean, it does make sense that OKC could sign Westbrook and let him retire with the team, so that part can sound believable. But the $20 million contract was really the giveaway. That amount makes it too obvious that the news is probably fake. For people who don't really know much about NBA contracts or Westbrook's value at this stage of his career, they might easily fall for it though. Lol.

This was a fake post when i see it, the reason why is not that they can't give Westbrook the 20 million, but they can't afford to pay the tax, seems that this were also use by other teams to sign veteran players, since you are chasing the ring you will sign the 4million dollar contract, because they are over the salary cap, but technically i think if they have room or have big salary cap space they can offer them bigger, not minimum. There are lots of post right now that just want to be trending that is why they are posting fake news they should be penalized or should not be monetized, that's just spreading fake news in my opinion.

Returning for another season after announcing his retirement would seem somewhat illogical on his part. I saw a report in the media once saying that Westbrook had turned down a two-year contract with the Wizards before announcing his retirement, so the idea that he suddenly changed his mind about retiring doesn't seem entirely logical to me. That said, I think there will be plenty more speculation like this about Westbrook before the season starts.

The news outlet I read that on I always felt was trustworthy and Shaq has said in the past he wants to buy a stake in the team. He may not be able to get a successful bid together, but if you think Shaq won’t try to get his hands on that ownership stake if the Buss family is allowed to sell, you’re crazy.

Updated news on the NBA, https://x.com/ShamsCharania/status/20902268039692575124 year $88 million, not sure if he is worth that price, but the Cavs might have seen something special. And I think that the Nuggets are going to developed him as their next star alongside Jokic and Murray. And the return to Nuggets? a single unprotected first and a second-rounder.

Oh yeah, I think he is worth it. Yes, the Nuggets actually lost in this trade, but I think they are trying to free up some cap space. They still have AG, Murray, and Jokic. Those three have high salaries, so there's not enough money to build more for the second stringers. They still need someone who could keep the lead if those stars are going to rest. Also, I believe this is a good opportunity for Watson to gain more in terms of salary, which he already received in that 4-year contract. Now the question is whether the Nuggets will add more or just let it be. I believe AG will also be completely healthy when the season starts. It went really badly for the Nuggets when he was on and off due to injuries.

prime Shaq in the early 2000s was simply unstoppable. no single player stood a chance. Wemby might have been the closest candidate to challenge him but his slim frame just wouldn't hold up. Shaq is easily the undisputed king of bully ball, back then, he was literally powering guys like Shawn Bradley straight into the rim.
Shaq is so unstoppable on his prime years. Also no one can match his energy and strength. That's why he's one of the most exciting player on mid 1900s to earl 2000s era. But Wemby is built different although yeah he provably can't stop him, but for sure he can still make his life so difficult. Wemby have length, speed and shooting ability this can be his advantage against the prime Shaq. We don't know what will truly happen if they meet up, but one thing is for sure people would truly enjoy watching them competing in court. he wasn't the greatest player ever and he definitely wasn't the greatest center either. but i don't know if anyone ever dominated like he did during his prime. they literally changed the rules because of Shaq. they got rid of defensive three seconds.

Oh yeah, I think he is worth it.
I dont think that's a good idea. They traded Max Strus, who has been one of their most consistent players in the playoffs and one of the few guys who can really bring energy to the team. Hmm, I really don't understand what they are thinking. Do they not want to improve, or are they just not seeing his value to the team?

I understand what you feel in this trade they made, but the current decision they have done really have a sense. Knowing its worth to explore and try other player, since they provably seen that they have problem on defense that's why they trade their shooter to a defensive player. For acquiring Watson it gives Cavs the size, youth and also those two way upside which is missing on their team for many years. They made risky trade for this, but for sure its worth to try knowing the replacement he get is also reliable player and for sure can help their team to win.

Correct, with the Cavaliers' current lineup, they were already struggling, so they really needed to make some changes. And since Max Strus ended up with the Lakers, I think he can be very useful there, especially now that the team is different and they are making Luka their best player. We have seen before that players around Luka can improve because even though he fills up the stats himself, his ability to create and assist his teammates is really remarkable. So for me, this could be a win-win situation for both teams.

They shoulda trade either Harden or Mitchell instead to cover more salary cap space since both of them are inconsistent during the playoffs. Cavs even traded away Garland before while he is a huge help when Mitchell is struggling. Cavs is a monster team on regular season but always a choker during late games until playoffs. They struggle a lot when it comes series matches since their defense was easily being exploited.

Harden being traded is possible, but Mitchell? Thats like saying they want to rebuild again, they sacrificed a lot just to acquire Mitchell because they really believed he could help the team, and indeed he was able to help. Sadly, I still dont see him as a championship-minded player, because even back in Utah he always struggled in the playoffs. Well, maybe give it one more season and lets see what happens, but this season I don't expect the Cavs to get past the second round.

There are really players like Mitchell, who are good in the regular games and then choke when playoff comes along. Just like what they have last year, they have a solid lineup and have a good record. But they've lost along the way and him and Harden partnership doesn't look good in playoffs. But if ever there will be a trade, I think that Harden should go first as again, he doesn't seem to blend in any team that has another superstar. His character is more of a guy that wanted to carry a team just like in his prime with Houston.
