As for a potential Jokic-Luka duo, again, on paper it looks very promising, but in reality, I don’t think it will work out.
Why do you think it won't work? Jokic is a very good team player and a willing passer, and remember his answer after they won the championship, he just wanted to go home. His attitude is not really about wanting to be the star of the team. And since he and Luka are already friends, I don't think chemistry would be a big problem either. For me, I think it can actually work.

Because if Jokic will go to the lakers Nuggets will break or get other players and picks in the lakers meaning they will have this stars but unable to build good supporting players around him, sure thing they can get minimum veteran offers but are they capable enough to play or support this two players, the lakers don't have the assets and drafts to build and get this team to be in top again, unlikely they will not win a championship in my own opinion, with the Spurs and OKC they will dominate the west for years to come.

In that case they really need to give up some players, maybe if they can give up Reaves together with a few more players, they might be able to accommodate Jokic.

The Lakers are one of the most valuable teams, they also need to make money, and people would definitely want to watch if Luka and Jokic are playing together. No offense to Reaves, but he just doesn't have the same charisma and star power as those two superstars.

Shams is reporting that Klay Thompson is signing with the Miami Heat as soon as he clears waivers. I’m not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing for the Heat, but it is a great thing for Klay Thompson. He’s going to get a legitimate shot at another ring. Imagine if he ended his career with more than Steph…

They just need one experienced guy who have been there and understands the plays on those playoffs games.
Those games are the most important ones and that's what they need.
But it seems that they have no faith to their current roster, they already have got a good one.
What they need is a leader who's got a lot of iq on those important games.
The issue maybe because the players or the star players are not experience enough or they can't handle the pressure in the playoffs they are more comfortable in the regular season because there is nothing at stake, unlike in the playoffs that one game can make a difference.
If i were harden and Mitchell i would talk to players like LeBron, Leonard, and other experience players in the playoffs on how to overcome that stage, that is their main problem all along, adding LeBron would help them push into a final birth but sadly it did not happen, they don't need LeBron to carry they just need someone like him to be in the floor to facilitate.
Yes, I think that's the second playoffs that they have been.
Last year, they did a great run.
And still ended up losing that good standing they have.
So it matters when someone is a veteran on the team and knows how to handle pressure.
Their intelligence on the situation is coming out and that is needed and as important as it is during the regular season.

Another big signing update for the offseason. DeMar DeRozan is signing with the Denver Nuggets. This will be his 18th season and I’m guessing this will probably be his last contract. I actually like this signing for the Nuggets. DeRozan may not be the same player he was in his prime but he brings much needed shooting.

Yes, at least we get to see DeRozan still playing at this point in his career. He could be a needed boost by the Nuggets specially if he will be coming from the bench and provide power. He has one of the best mid range shot, smooth and find the target.

It's just a one year deal though worth $3.9 million. So it might be similar to what the Nuggets did experiment before with Russell Westbrook. So it could be his last chance to play in the league.

I noticed the poll for the 2026 championship winner between the Knicks and Spurs is still not closed, just for fun I voted for the Knicks since I already know they won, so technically I'm right. Lol.

Anyway, OP please close that poll, it's already irrelevant since the season is over and we're now waiting for the next one, maybe it's time to update it.

One Klay Thompson will not change the Miami Heat at all.
For me, they'll still at the 5th-8th at the end of the regular season. Too early, but that's my prediction.

Their bench is still bad if you will ask me. If you will ask New York, they have role players like Alvarado, Clarkson, and Robinson (last season) as their notable bench. For the Heat, you have... Portis and? Nothing more and that's the problem with them. Sure their starting 5 is maybe an average one, but if you want to win a title nowadays, you need to have a deep roster. That's what Nuggets did when they won the title, and when the Thunder won the title as well.

As for Thompson going to the Heat, it's good that the team got a 40.9% 3-pt shooting guard last season who averaged 18 PPG. Now the Heat is already surrounded with some outside shooters, I want them to prove me wrong and end the season on the top 4. Smiley

He destroyed the Kings line-up btw when he started overtaking as the main guy for the team that leads to Kings trading away Fox and other core players just to acquire old star player like him..

I still doesn’t know the exact details of the trade but as long Nuggets maintain their core players such as Jokic, Murray and Gordon then I believe I agree on you for him as good addition.

Fox can't carry the team anyway so if he can't carry the team someone should, kings traded their players maybe they already knew that they can't be able to break the playoffs, they made the right decision to trade fox anyway, he can be a good 6th man in the nuggets.
Klay might be signing with the Miami heat if the deal is finalized it would be a great addition but still the sixers is the favorite, it would be a great match up also, still looking for the team that can make a difference in the playoffs.

To be honest, I'm surprised. What I mean is, even though DeRozan is a veteran, last season he averaged no less than 18 points per game, and if the Nuggets really did sign him to a contract for just $3.9 million, even if it's only for one season, then that's a really good catch for them.

East is really a tough conference. If I'm going to rank it:

1. New York Knicks - defending champ
2. Sixers - LBJ and JB
3. Heat - with this new look
4. Raptors - if the Kahwi trade push thru
5. Pacers - with Hali back
6. Celtics - Paul George and Mitch Robinson

Yes, that will be ironic if Klay got his 5 ring, as he will be ahead with Curry. Just imagine Klay holding up 5 fingers and taunting Curry if they have a heated game.

You mean DeRozan right? My comment is for Fox being traded before just because DeRozan is already leading the Kings but their performance becomes worst especially when they traded more of the original core that put them on the regular playoffs contender before.

I have no concerns DeRozan being traded now as he is not consistent dominant anymore. Maybe Kings will focus now on Zach Lavine. Cheesy

Anyway, I’m sure Nuggets can always bounce back with this veteran addition.

I have no concerns DeRozan being traded now as he is not consistent dominant anymore. Maybe Kings will focus now on Zach Lavine. Cheesy

Anyway, I’m sure Nuggets can always bounce back with this veteran addition.

For me, DeRozan is still a really good player. The problem I see with the Kings could be their system, because we thought when they added Lavine the team would become stronger, but in reality it somehow became worse.

Maybe DeRozan and LaVine are just not the best combination since both of them are scorers, so maybe they're not that compatible with each other. Although they already played together with the Bulls before, it still doesn't mean the same combination will work well with the Kings.

East is really a tough conference. If I'm going to rank it:

1. New York Knicks - defending champ
2. Sixers - LBJ and JB
3. Heat - with this new look
4. Raptors - if the Kahwi trade push thru
5. Pacers - with Hali back
6. Celtics - Paul George and Mitch Robinson

Yes, that will be ironic if Klay got his 5 ring, as he will be ahead with Curry. Just imagine Klay holding up 5 fingers and taunting Curry if they have a heated game.

I still remember the time when the East was so weak, now they look like the stronger conference, but we also cannot underestimate the West because they still have OKC and the Spurs, those teams are the real deal.

I think the safest way to say it is that both conferences are more balanced now, so it's really unpredictable who will win, it could be East or West. About LeBron, I'm not really hyped with his new team honestly, for me they just look like an ordinary team right now.

I still remember the time when the East was so weak, now they look like the stronger conference, but we also cannot underestimate the West because they still have OKC and the Spurs, those teams are the real deal.

In the last 10 years the NBA champion looks like this.

Quote
2025-26 — New York Knicks def. San Antonio Spurs, 4-1
2024-25 — Oklahoma City Thunder def. Indiana Pacers, 4-3
2023-24 — Boston Celtics def. Dallas Mavericks, 4-1
2022-23 — Denver Nuggets def. Miami Heat, 4-1
2021-22 — Golden State Warriors def. Boston Celtics, 4-2
2020-21 — Milwaukee Bucks def. Phoenix Suns, 4-2
2019-20 — Los Angeles Lakers def. Miami Heat, 4-2
2018-19 — Toronto Raptors def. Golden State Warriors, 4-2
2017-18 — Golden State Warriors def. Cleveland Cavaliers, 4-0
2016-17 — Golden State Warriors def. Cleveland Cavaliers, 4-1

https://www.nba.com/news/history-nba-champions

So it's like a balance champion as 6 came from the West (Warriors has 2), and then 4 from the East including the last season's champion.

I think the safest way to say it is that both conferences are more balanced now, so it's really unpredictable who will win, it could be East or West. About LeBron, I'm not really hyped with his new team honestly, for me they just look like an ordinary team right now.

Safe to say that it's like that, we still have a strong team in the West like the OKC and then the Spurs with Wemby. And speaking of Wemby, it is reported that he is still growing and we really don't know what is his exact height coming this season.

I think the heat might make it to the second round but i don't think they can advance or win the second round, they are short of supporting players, the sixers should be the number one team, ill put the knicks into the 3rd because they battle injured teams, going to the finals, if Hali is healthy with players that are like before they might be in the playoff talks but maybe they are out of the top 6, Celtics are a playoff team, but Tatum needs to be the guy now, because jb is in the sixers uniform, no one can save him.

This is a good move, they need a player who can be reliable during the playoffs, and DeRozan is the kind of player who can create his own shots. I also like that he's very reliable at the free throw line, so it looks like the Nuggets really wanted an experienced player.

It's usually in the playoffs where they face bigger problems, especially against teams like the Wolves, maybe this time things will be different with DeRozan there. And with this move, I assume he'll be a starter, right?

With the Aspiration scandal being done, there's a high chance that the Kawhi Leonard trade will be push through before the regular season starts, and I've said it already that the Raptors will be the one team to watch in the East once he goes back there. Of course, let's not forget the defending champs as well.

No offense to what you said, but I don't see the Heat being at the top 3, and not even being a top 5 in the East. If I'll be making my own rank, this is how it will be:
1. Knicks since they're the champions.
2. Sixers if Embiid will play for the majority of the regular season.
3. Raptors just because they got Kawhi, and they still have Barnes and Barrett on the team.
4. Pacers because I believe that the Hali-Zubac combo will works perfectly for the team.
5. Pistons because they got the top seed last season, and not that much has change with the roster but only Harris being out.

I didn't even include the Celtics in the top 5 just because of how awful that trade is... at least on paper. As for the Heat, I don't see them winning the title. I've said in the past that their bench isn't one of the best. Can I ask you? With the roster of the Heat right now, do you see them as a title contender alongside the Thunder, Spurs and Knicks?  Wink

I think that is the keyword here, everything is one paper until we see them play. Specially Miami with Klay on there already. For their bench they have Bobby Portis and Jovic in I'm not mistaken, and some role players.

So that could be the plan and it's the formula for winning a ring. Not only star players like Giannis or Bam or even Klay. It will have a complete roster from the bench as well. We have seen this in the last champion in Knicks wherein there are players like Shamet or Clarkson to provide some spark. Let's see if Portis or anyone from the Miami Heat's bench can give it to them day in day out.
