Victor Oladipo wrote a post asking for second chance in the NBA.  What do you think?  Maybe Miami or Philadelphia picks him up for cheap as a bench threat?  I hope he can get a tryout with someone.  He was great before his injury.

"I believe I still have GREAT (and more importantly WINNING) basketball in front of me. I believe I can be a valuable contributor to an NBA locker room. And what I'm asking for right now is an opportunity to prove it."
At 34 years old, I still believe he can still ball out there. I mean any team out there could give him a non-guaranteed contract just to try him, and if he can't contribute to that team then I guess it's safe to say that his career is over in the NBA. I still wonder why there are no other teams that are trying to get him. Heck even that Ben Simmons is gaining more interest than him after the mental breakdown that happened to him. I guess AGENT matters then.

It's easier said than done, and I doubt any front office would be willing to take such a leap of faith, it's never about who he was or who he could have been, just who he currently aside the talks, how much can his body really carry if pushed to the limit and who's spot would he offered ? I don't doubt that he's mind could be in the best place possible, and the work he's put in with the G-League should count for something, there are just too many questions that can never be answered until he's been given the chance, but at what risk and who's expense ?

I saw that Thanasis Antetokounmpo is leaving the NBA to play overseas now that Giannis has left the Bucks and is no longer carrying him along for the ride.  Still, he got to be an NBA champion and make a ton of money.  You can't ask for too much more than that.

He should probably wrap it up and switch career, he was never a good player at any point anyways, and Giannis have done the best he could, so plying his trade overseas might not even yield any positive number either. Maybe he could go to some really shitty league though, and since the difference between the NBA and any some league is incomparable, he could rack up some numbers.

I like that pickup.  I think he's insurance just in case they meet up with San Antonio in the Finals.  Wemby needs an answer and that answer is Tacko!

Or Tacko is a human mannequin that'd serves just the goal for the guys to keep learning how to play against Wemby. Surely not going to be a standard contract.

Some still really don't know why the sixers are getting bigs, this is for Embiid to be able to rest or don't have to stress his body early this move will prolonged his career and game being played, also this is what make LeBron dangerous having bigs give him a lot of advantage, have you seen how he use big players when he is a cavalier?
Thanasis leaving the NBA is alright he have already made a lot of money playing with his brother, he has still bigger money than ours combine, if he choses to play overseas he will still earn more.

I doubt that he can match Wemby considering how good Wemby is now and the experience he already gain during the finals. Only if his teammates are consistent on supporting maybe they can beat Knicks.

I’m sure Spurs already do fine adjustments this summer break since they still have Pop guiding them.

Regarding Thanasis, it’s a good decision since he will not develop well on NBA.

Agree he might be look bigger but wemby is much faster than him maybe in size he got advantage but we all see how intelligent wemby is using his advantage in the floor and compensate on what he is lacking but i think he has improve even more this coming season and the lost to knicks will push him even more to get better, that in mind, he don't need to build muscle because right now he's weight is normal and it will come naturally for the muscles to grow as he age.

Have you guys heard the news about Kai Sotto possibly playing for the Miami Heat? After their impressive win in the Asian Games on their home court, their coach said he would talk to Miami, which probably gives us a little hint that there could be a possibility.

If it happens, Miami would have a 7'3 big man they can use even for limited minutes. Kai is very effective in setting screens, protecting the rim and giving them size inside, so I think he could still be useful even if he doesn't get a big role right away.

That might just be hype for now. He could possibly get a chance, maybe even through a short-term deal, but he still has to prove that he can actually be useful before Miami would seriously consider keeping him.

Miami already has several big men, so it really depends on how the management sees him. The Filipino connection with the coaching staff might help open a door, but for me Kai is not yet fully NBA-ready. I think the G League would be the better first step. Let him play there, improve his strength and consistency, then see if he can earn his way into an NBA roster.

Given his size, I wouldn't say his weight is normal. His profile on the NBA website lists him at just 235 pounds, which is very light for a center of his height; that's why he looks so skinny. So he definitely needs to build muscle mass. He doesn't necessarily need to get to the point where he can compete with other, heavier centers, but at least enough to protect his body from injuries, or, more precisely, to reduce the risk of injury.

If I can compare Tacko to any NBA player out there, that would be Boban. They're tall yes, but both are very, very slow, and they can't shoot outside. They're also prone to pick and rolls because they're very slow, and that makes them a liability on defense. Wemby's answer is Tacko? I'd rather pick Zach Edey over him. Cheesy

Anyway as for Thanasis leaving the NBA to go to another team, like what you said it's the best thing that he could do because development-wise, he can't get it on the NBA because he's only playing on garbage times, and for most of the time, he's acting like he's the bodyguard of Giannis. Now that he's out, he can develop himself more, and who knows. He could come back in playing in the NBA again, but he's a better player already during that time.

Courtesy of Shams… The NBA has ruled on the Kawhi situation.

“The NBA has ruled on the Los Angeles Clippers in for salary cap circumvention investigations on Kawhi Leonard after yearlong probe -- stripping the franchise of 5 first-round picks, issuing a $30 million fine to owner Steve Ballmer and suspensions for Ballmer, Lawrence Frank and Gillian Zucker, sources tell ESPN.

Kawhi Leonard will have to pay $700,000 in restitution for improper benefits by the Clippers for his uncle and former business rep, Dennis Robertson. No contract void or suspension for Leonard. And Robertson -- who was fired by Leonard in June -- is being banned by the NBA from all business dealings.”

This clearance is now officially making him move to the Toronto Raptors.
That fine for Ballmer and et. al is a lot to pay with. That's already a budget for a lot of picks and veterans.
Whilst for Kawhi paying that $700k, he can get that back again easy.

Kawhi definitely screwed the Clippers over for a long time to come.  I think the total is 10 draft picks and SGA.  That is basically a new franchise.  At the time it seemed like doing anything to get Kawhi was the right move, but in hindsight it definitely wasn't.  They never won anything and the Lakers still got a title.  If only he went to the Lakers instead, they might have won a few titles and avoided this whole mess.  I blame Kawhi's uncle.

The Clippers has basically realized that investing so much for Kawhi was a clear mistake.
I guess that the reason was also due to how he has performed before acquiring him.
I didn't know that Kawhi's uncle has something to do with his decision but, yeah, everything messed up with wrong decisions all parties made.

I'm not really sure if that is true or fake news mate (I know it's coach Tim Cone who said it). I also saw that one and perhaps it could be that Kai's performance in the Fiba specially that block that might have brought the hype on him again. And one thing that we can connect is that coach Spo is Filipino so that could be the connection.

Regardless, we have been searching for the first pure Filipino to join the NBA and it has eluded us for decades. Hopefully, Kai will be our best shot as before he was given time with teams for a try out.

It's one thing to have been pitched by such a gross misconduct and fraud (if they weren't the one that suggest it), but for the Clippers as an organization accepting and going ahead with, five first round picks surely isn't one they shouldn't be fine with, although now Kawhi's gone, they're definitely fvcked for the most part of the coming decade. Maybe the only ray of sunshine to this is that, they still get some first rounders coming for them over the next few seasons, like the ones they got via trades right ?

I also saw that there is no formal route for appeal or arbitration process available to the Clippers, only chance is to it to court, but is that something they'll be opened to ?

Kawhi Leonard will have to pay $700,000 in restitution for improper benefits by the Clippers for his uncle and former business rep, Dennis Robertson. No contract void or suspension for Leonard. And Robertson -- who was fired by Leonard in June -- is being banned by the NBA from all business dealings.”

I might be wrong, but I don't believe there is anyway Kawhi had zero knowledge of this happening, with the "endorsement deal" that he didn't even have to do jack for... I understand that his own business was to show up and hoop, with agents and rep being responsible for all kinds of dealing, it just appeared that he might have got off pretty unscathed.

I wouldn't put a $700,000 loss as unscathed, but I get it.  He probably made more than that under the table so this isn't a huge loss.  I heard his uncle also got banned from NBA events for 5 years or something like that.  I guess Kawhi is probably worth a few hundred million, so $700K is probably a 0.3% hit to his net worth.  Still, it's gotta sting a little bit.  No matter how rich you are, nobody likes seeing money disappear that they feel is theirs.

$700k from a controversial $28 million endorsement that was later reported could have been on the north side of $50 million still seem unscathed to me, and It wasn’t about just the money alone to me, but there was no voiding of contracts or suspension for Kawhi that could ultimately blowback on the Raptors, which would have been ground for his trade to the Raptors to be rescinded. Not that I want any extra punishment for him, if indeed he doesn’t know anything and shouldn’t be responsible for it either, it’s just about how little repercussions fell on his ends, and he gets to have a better shot at competing with Raptors in the coming season.

I've heard this personally when coach Tim Cone and Kai Sotto were interviewed after their win against Iran if i'm not mistaken. That's not a done deal yet because Tim Cone has yet to talk to his contact with the Miami Heat. I have nothing against Kai Sotto and i want to have a full-bloodied Filipino in the NBA but given his agility i think Kai Sotto will be having a hard time competing against the bigs in the NBA. We can observed this in the recent FIBA qualifying games, though we win against Jordan and Iran because of the presence of Kai Sotto in the middle but his agility is somewhat questionable, he losses some quickness since he added some muscles.

I don't know maybe tim cone is just too happy that is why he said that, although Kai have the height but moving that slow is going to be just a problem from that heat unless he will be a dominant underneath but the spot is already been taken, no doubt he will be able to block shot and will intimidate players but does he have what it takes to be in the NBA.
There might be a chance but i don't think its right now but who knows if that will happen but Tim cone now saying he have a chance he is just happy in the moment that he have spoken about that, he might have jeopardized sotto chase for that NBA career.

---
Just to add to what you said, I feel bad for the Clippers right now for what they risked in order to be in where they at right now.

Imagine you let PG13 and Kawhi in the team in exchange for a 2-time MVP in SGA, multiple draft picks, and now because of the Kawhi scandal, your team MIGHT be stripped of 5 1st round picks in the future. I don't care about the punishments of other people including Ballmer, but that 5 1st round picks basically hinders you from rebuilding. In short, this team will be a mediocre team for the next 5 years. No draft picks, all decent players in their roster. Bottom tier team at best, and I don't even see them as a play-in contender.

It's a good thing that Kawhi's contract isn't voided which means that the trade has officially happened and he's now a Raptor. However, despite of Kawhi's achievements throughout his career, he will be most remembered as the player who tried to circumvent a salary to do NOTHING. Well it's good to see that this scandal has been solved... or is it already? Because it seems like Ballmer will try and make an appeal with the decision of the league.

That 5 1st future draft picks is really huge for the Clippers. They can't build their team without those future picks. Not really sure, but it seems that Steve B. is really unlucky when he became the owner of the Clippers.

From the Chris Paul era with Blake to Kahwi and Paul George. In paper they look good, but it didn't translate to even in the finals specially on the latter tandem of Leonard-George. And then giving up SGA might really bite him and regretting his decisions.
