Lebron is built differently and he's also far from that. With that skinny body he's got, I think if he wants to have that longevity in the league and try to get close to Lebron's career. He has to do something and add some buff into his physique. Anyway, it's just an opinion from fans like me. He knows more better on how to handle business, his career and his physicality.
I think if he want's to be like LeBron physically healthy like, he needs to sacrifice, adding bulk to his body will surely takeaway that midrange three point away from him, he just needs to be healthy for sure they go to the gym but he needs something that LeBron do, that might be how he manage food and how to workout. Sadly changing those things will take a toll on him, because he is already age, unlike LeBron who takes care of his body early, that make his body adapt, unlike adapting late his body will need to accept those routines longer, when it comes to business side that might be learn unlike the health. Maybe that won't be a thing to be added to execute anymore. He's good with that physique but it would definitely add a greater value if he's done that. The quickness that he's got also is because of his body. I think for veterans like him, they know what they like but a time will come that they have to sacrifice and choose greatness over business.

But honestly, I found the Clippers more exciting to watch during the CP3, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan era. That Lob City team was really fun to watch.
When a team combines a good point guard with a strong power forward or center, teams like this can achieve great results during a season, while their on-court chemistry can impress fans. In fact, there have been quite a few such examples throughout NBA history. Speaking of the Clippers, back then, CP3 did most of the work on offense, while Griffin and Jordan effectively finished the plays with powerful dunks.

Paul never won an NBA championship, so having his number retired would still be a huge honor for him. But whatever happens with the Clippers is already out of his control. Maybe the next strongest candidate to retire his No. 3 would be New Orleans, since he also had some of the best years of his career with that franchise. At least there is still a good chance that one NBA team will eventually retire CP3’s number, and in college his No. 3 has already been retired by Wake Forest. There are many NBA players in the past who have never won a title, but got their jersey retired on that team. Barkley, Wilkins, Stockton, Malone, Ewing, Maravich, Baylor, and the list goes on and on. I still believe that there's an internal issue between the Clippers and him. Like what I said, it would be better if the Clippers themselves will not retire that number at all. Heck even Beal knows that he doesn't even deserve it, and at one point, he even wear a number "0" jersey so why? I mean what are the factors that the management picked in order for Beal to deserve this? Well, yes it's out of Paul's control already, but with lots of controversies happening with the team, I just hope that Ballmer will sell the team already just so that there might be a CHANGE with the team as a whole. As for New Orleans retiring his number, if they want to then they should do it, but it's been months since Paul retired, but it didn't happen. I mean if you really want it to happen, you can do it anytime if you're the management of the Pelicans, right? So far, they haven't, and I believe despite of the best years that he had on that team, I doubt that they'll do it. I would rather see the Suns retiring that jersey from him after leading the team to the NBA Finals, but I have some doubts on it as well. But honestly, I found the Clippers more exciting to watch during the CP3, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan era. That Lob City team was really fun to watch.
I've seen that era of the Clippers, and aside from the Warriors back then, I also see them as the "dark horse" in the West where they could win it all. That's how good and exciting they are during those years. I mean the 5 of Jordan, Griffin, Paul, Redick, and Crawford. That could compete in the West back then, but the Warriors dynasty is just too good for them that's why they didn't even clinch the Conference Finals unfortunately.

Sometimes you really need to be at the right team at the right time to be a champion. Their lineup was really stack up, but they can't get the job done because they have to face the Warriors. We've seen this in the history of the NBA already. And speaking of: Clippers spark new controversy by giving Chris Paul's No. 3 jersey number to Bradley Beal.So it looks like they are not going to hang CP3 jersey's yet (or maybe they don't have a plan).

I understand that they might not want to retire it under Paul's jersey, but to retire it under Bradley Beal? Now I realize that they deserve that punishment that they got on that scandal that they got.

True, that it's out of his control, but we have seen some other teams in the past hanging jersey numbers of their great players in their arena in recognizing his effort when he was still with them. I'm not sure what's the nature of the relationships between Paul and the Clippers management as they absorbed him last season. And if they are not willing to do that with CP3, then it shows how "classy" <insert sarcasm here> the Clippers were.

Jalen Duren declined a 5-year, $190M offer from the Pistons. He wants at least $200M. Do you guys think his idea is right to bet on himself for $10M more? For me, I feel like $30M+ a year is already good for his experience instead of getting less than $10M next season. I wouldn't take the risk if I were him. But there are rumors that several teams are interested in him, maybe that is why he is taking a gamble.
Statistically, he improved last season and is still young, just 22. If all goes well, he might average 20+ next season. Maybe that is one of the reasons he and his agent are betting on themselves. He better prove himself next season then, so he won't follow in the footsteps of Kuminga.

Judging with his performance last season the offer is way overpaid for him by offering him 190M$ he should sign it immediately we see a lot of players declining offer and ended with no contract, with his performance in the playoffs a 10M$ Discount is so small, if I'm going to offer him a 5 year i would pay him $150M or just offer him a 2 year deal with like $17M per year, and dispatch him if he will not still deliver he sabotage Cunningham effort, the audacity to demand is in no position he should remember his performance in the playoffs is disgusting.

I hope this is not a mistake that he will regret in his young career. Actually, it’s alright to decline if he has a good agent and there are really many teams interested in him. But that $190M is already huge. I understand they just want to make sure they maximize his earnings since it’s a 5-year contract, but it’s still a gamble as well. Let’s see, he is still young. My guess is the Pistons should still be able to keep him with the kind of contract he is asking for.

He is on active starting 5 which Piston rely on him as center so I believe he knew his worth and I believe he will get it considering how good he is right now even on young age. I believe this is a different story to Kuminga and Schroder declined offer since both of them is heavily relied on by their team to declined that kind of offer. Duren has the potential to become more dominant center on the league if he gain more experience. But still a chance that he might choke so no one knows how he will perform this season.

Kuminga x Schroder v.3? Man, what's wrong with these talents. I know that they can be more valuable and can ask for more. But that's money sitting in front of them and these teams won't be offering them with a second round that's near to what they like. He likes more than $200M AFAIK but that's guaranteed there already. Even if there will be several teams interested to him if that's just me, I'll take the money and sip some coffee. But anyway, good luck if he's ever going to find the contract he likes. Stats wise, he knows his worth but man money is money.

Just know that for someone to decline such an offer, it’s either he has a bigger offers on the table, or he don’t fancy playing for the team that’s interested in paying that amount for him. When you are a big player you have preferences, you want to play in a team that has quality players that will support you to deliver your best performances. When you look at a team squad list, and you are not motivated by what you are seeing, you will use something else as excuse to chase them away. Don’t be surprise when you see him sign for another team with with same salary range or even lesser amount.

Yes, money is money, but he also has to be careful not to get too greedy because we’ve seen this happen to some players already. They ask for more, turn down a good offer, then later end up getting something close to a minimum-type contract. Even if he is probably at his peak value right now, he still shouldn’t be too overconfident. The NBA is a business, and teams will not risk that much money if they don’t believe a player really has that kind of value.

numbers wont lie, Chris Paul is one of the best in the tea,. and not just that, he deliver , he make play, he call the shot. Those hate are no place!
I believe that this is true and with CP's last run on the Spurs didn't make it. I think if he's with the team during the finals, it might have a different setting and result. But with respect to that man, if the Clippers won't retire his jersey, then there's nothing wrong and they don't see him like that. People may hate CP but this is a nice guy who's also loved by the fans and I was one of those people when he didn't make his last run trying to get a ring. He won't be called the PointGod if he ain't good. This is one of the point guards that I looked up to. He, Nash, and Kidd all changed how I looked at basketball and even tried to become like them. The last run that he definitely proved how good he is was with the Thunder. That team was a sinking boat, and when he came in, it all changed. Regarding that disrespect by the Clippers, Bradley Beal already talked and only said respect to CP3. Still, there's no mention of the jersey number issue. He could've just shifted back to his number 0 to avoid the issue.

Actually he is being offered by Detroit, a 5 year contract worth $190 million, but he decline because they wanted around $200 million or more. So they are taking a big risk of not signing, and wait till he becomes a free agent next season. So there are still a lot of uncertainties, you just don't know, maybe next season his games goes down or worst, got injured and can't play. And so with that, his value might go down and they can't get even that initial offer of the Pistons to him.

Indeed there's lots of uncertainties on his decision knowing that there's no team right now have enough cap space to sign him. He's qualifying offer right now is at $9.6m base in this site https://www.forbes.com/sites/bryantoporek/2026/09/12/pistons-should-call-jalen-durens-qualifying-offer-bluff-in-free-agency-standoffSo if he fails in this deal, maybe we will see another Schroeder. Better for Duren to get that existing offer, then show that he really deserve to get a raise. He's career is in huge risk if he continue to insist and ask for more bigger contract.

He is definitely gambling with that decision, because one bad season or a serious injury and that $190M offer could disappear very quickly. If he really wants $200M, that’s only around $10M more than the reported offer. At that point, maybe taking a small discount for guaranteed long-term money is the safer move instead of risking everything just to squeeze out a little more. And honestly, I don’t think Duren is at the level of someone like Embiid where teams would automatically throw that kind of money at him no matter what. He still has things to prove, especially in the playoffs, so asking for that much is already a pretty aggressive bet on himself.

It's just plain greed and a gamble on his part, but it’s worth noting that this is far from the first such case in the NBA. I believe these situations more often end in an epic failure for a player, leaving him with either a relatively small contract or a minimum contract, rather than a happy ending where he's offered a maximum contract. In fact, as has already been noted, unexpected injuries in such cases can ruin all the plans of players who take this kind of gamble.

What I find mostly annoying about the whole situation is that for a guy who is only 22 years old, it's as though that'd be last big deal, in the league provided he's able to work on his craft and get better over time, he'll be 27 years old likely entering his prime by the time the current offer is going to end, who is to say he's going to have another All Star year like season ? What if Detroit Pistons are no where near as good as they were last season for him to have such a season? for someone who had a miserable playoffs, I'd expect him to accept the offer and see where things go from there. I don't think he'll get an offer as good as that if he does enter free agency, and if it's good as that, surely won't be 5years, which means he'll have more proving himself to be worth the money inside the shortest period of time.

The last playoffs were really the test, and he wasn’t playing as expected. Only Cade Cunningham was consistently leading the team, and that max contract worth around $269.1 million really looks deserved. For this young big man, I think $190 million is already a very generous offer and he should seriously consider taking it. We don’t want to see another Kuminga situation here where asking for more ends up making things complicated.
