Zach Randolph claims he spoke with Russell Westbrook's brother and he said that Russell isn't done yet and may come back to join the Miami Heat and try for a title. I do think Russ has a little bit left in the tank and I don't mind seeing him chase championships.
Although he is far from his prime, Russ is not a bad pickup for a vet minimum. He can still contribute on offense coming off the bench. At this point, I don't think Russ still cares about his stats like he used to. I believe he cares more about getting a ring rather than retiring with low stats. He knows he can't do those things again even if he wants to. If I were Russ, I'd make a comeback and take that cash as long as there is an offer. The Heat ain't bad at all, at least better than Sacramento. They also now have Giannis. Anyway, Doc Rivers has retired and is now an NBA game analyst for NBC Sports.

It's not surprising, and I like that he is coming back if that is really true because he can still bring a lot of energy to the team. I don't think Westbrook himself is the problem, sometimes it's the coaching staff that doesn't know how to use him properly. Westbrook does not deserve to end his career like that, retiring just because no team wants to sign him. He is a legend, a triple-double guy who made OKC exciting to watch before. Hopefully he can still play with Miami and at least get another chance to compete for a ring before he retires. Anyway, Doc Rivers has retired and is now an NBA game analyst for NBC Sports.
Good, because he is already failing as a coach. Try being an analyst, wish him luck.

I think he could still play a couple of years more. In recent years, he’s been turning the ball over a bit too often and missing easy scoring opportunities a bit too easily, but Westbrook has always made a contribution. It’s true that his time in the spotlight is over, but he wasn’t playing badly enough for his career to be over. Miami could actually be a very sensible destination for him. I might think that because I particularly like players who drive into the box. If he hadn’t been so poor at finishing, other teams might still have been interested in him. In fact, he could at least have played in Europe, but I suppose Russ didn’t want to.

Wow, my first time seeing this kind of situation where a player was offered twice and still declined. He might think he is special and worth more than that, or probably other teams are already waiting for him with bigger offers. So what happens next? Since he declined the offer, does that mean he will no longer be a Piston? A Kuminga and Schroder v2.0 indeed. Good luck to him as it's rumored he'll be traded.
Deserving.

Jalen Duren has been offered with a 5-year $190M contract, he declined. The Pistons offered him again with a $200M 5-year contract, and declined again.
This might be the reason. He probably feels that he was being discounted, and the difference of around $87 million from the maximum he could potentially get is quite big. However, that still may not be enough to entice Duren to sign because the 6-foot-10 center is eligible for a max extension of five years and $287 million after being named Third Team All-NBA last season. Yet the Pistons are apparently unwilling to go that high and devote a portion of their salary cap to a $57 million average annual wage.
Source: Yahoo SportsWith his status now, he probably thinks he deserves a bigger contract and he seems very confident about his value. Maybe he is also open to being traded, especially if he felt that the amount Detroit offered was too low compared with what he believes he is worth.

But did Miami Heat offer Kawhi a contract?
His contract now is $50 million, so how can the Miami Heat afford him if they already have Giannis and Bam?
And I think Kawhi now is unreliable, he could easily get injured and that could ruin the momentum of the team.
There are news that Miami Heat showed interest in Leonard not sure whether they offered him any contract or not. Recently Miami heat had a blockbuster deal with Milwaukee Bucks in which they successfully added Giannis Antetokounmpo to their side. Heat also have added veteran star Klay Thompson. It was Leonard who was not interested in Miami Heat, as his interest was in having a deal with two teams only which are the Raptors and the San Antonio Spurs. Leonard must be happy to find deal, which he was looking for. https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/kawhi-leonard-potential-2-raptors-004211588.html

I believe the opposite is the case, and his injury plagued days are over, so does the Toronto Raptors, Kawhi Leonard have agreed to a two-year deal extension worth $115 million (as per Shams Charania), no franchise would do that this early if they have any concern about his reliability, and after all Giannis played only was it 35 or 36 games in total last season, some of which he also came of the bench, if I'm not mistaken. Kawhi to me, still does feel the right move for the Raptors and their really young team, they showed that they're already a good team last season by making the playoffs and only losing in a 7game series to the Cavaliers, are they much better with Kawhi in the mix ? I would say, Yes!

I would say, Yes! It seems wrong that Kawhi is able to make so much money after being caught breaking the rules with his last contract. He’s lucky he didn’t get banned from the league. Now he’s getting nearly sixty million dollars per year. Not a good message to send to future NBA players.

He might think he is special and worth more than that, or probably other teams are already waiting for him with bigger offers. So what happens next? Since he declined the offer, does that mean he will no longer be a Piston? Kuminga has been called about 94 times by the GM of the Wolves for that 2-year contract worth $12.4M. Good thing that he still got that $6M/year contract after declining the GSW's offer. This is where it is heading for these players think they're worth a super star. No offense as they're talented but their contracts are their business. And after this declining of contract, maybe he's going to be traded as per the rumors. A Kuminga and Schroder v2.0 indeed. Good luck to him as it's rumored he'll be traded.
Deserving. Whatever is left for the contract he'll take, it's still money but hopefully something good will come up to him. Otherwise, that's what he's asking for that no team will offer him. This might be the reason. He probably feels that he was being discounted, and the difference of around $87 million from the maximum he could potentially get is quite big.
He's not on that level compared to the others but if that's what he think is worth it, good luck to a team that can par his asking. However, that still may not be enough to entice Duren to sign because the 6-foot-10 center is eligible for a max extension of five years and $287 million after being named Third Team All-NBA last season. So young and dumb but I think the broke part will may come later. Pistons has been so generous with that offer or his manager or Duren himself is the issue. He's so full of himself I guess when he even can't prove anything yet at this level, his playoffs performance was basically so unforgivable he's been babysit by WCJ or it was even Ausar that do the defensive stats he should've been doing on the paint. With that kind of attitude, he'll sure be traded.

Maybe he thinks that he is not being appreciated or there could be some conflict inside with other players. At least we know the story now, that even if there are clause like maintaining his weight, it's easy for him to do that. But if you don't want to play to the franchise that has given you everything, then something is wrong with him. And we have seen throughout history that most of the time, it will backfire on the player like JK and Dennis "the Menace".

We are in an era where all-star players are being forced to have a pay cut to increase their chances of winning a title. Jalen Brunson is the prime example of this one, and maybe we can include Wemby as well with that new signed contract. The negotiation isn't going anywhere and up until now, we still don't know what will happen with the 2 parties. The deadline is October 1st, and I'm thinking that Duren will suck the sh*t of every dollar that he can then in the final day, he'll sign that contract anyway. I'm thinking that he's bluffing at this moment because... who in the hell thinks that he's worth $287M dollars aside from him? Especially after he played in the playoffs? Now I'm just hoping that the Pistons will not give him the max contract because HE DOESN'T DESERVE IT. October 1st. Wait for that date then after that, we will see the ending of this saga. If Duren signs for that qualifying offer, expect him to be on another team next season. For me though, I would just get that guaranteed $200M for 5 years. I mean even though I get injured, I will still be paid. Good luck to him.

There might be something with the Piston's management that has pissed off Duren that he declined that $200 million offer. For a guy that has not proven anything yet as they have not won championship with the team that number is for me massive. I don't know the real issue but i've read an article saying that Jalen Duren was somewhat disrespected by the Pistons that is why he wanted out but i think he should be professional enough to handle the issue and move on as that contract that the Pistons has offered to him is for star players and they think he is one.

Well, a decision has been made, and it's just so close to the new season or October 1 to accept the qualifying offer, and I hope he lands on a new team, but tbh he'll be bought cheap with this, and I will not be surprised if it will be the same fate as those guys. Accept that long term contract but not be happy with the team or the qualifying offer that makes him UFA this summer and endure the feeling. lol Kings or Bucks are interested in him but that was just a rumor.

The Raptors have signed Kawhi to a two-year contract extension worth $115M. Do you guys think it's worth it? For me, if he can stay healthy all throughout the season, including the playoffs, and maintain his stats, then maybe it's not bad. But considering his age and health, there's a part of me that thinks a contract with less than $50M should be enough. In the 2028-29 season, if he decides to stay, he will be getting $60M that season.
Meanwhile, Jalen Duren still declined the $200M offer from the Pistons. Dude is simply an example of a man who was given an inch but wants to take a mile. He is being greedy. That is a massive offer already for his caliber and experience. At this point, the Pistons should just let him go. With how things are developing, it seems their relationship already has a stain on it, even if they manage to sign him. He will likely request a trade later on, or the Pistons will.

Personally i don't think Kawhi is worth that amount of money, but that's just me because I don't like him and with all the injuries and so on I think it's just too much risk. Maybe he will prove me wrong but let's see. About Duren, yeah this story is actually ridiculous. I mean where was he in the playoffs? He was a total no show and now he is demanding more than a bag. 200 million is already ridiculous for a player like him but thinking he is even worth more is just hilarious. I hope Detroit will put a stop to that farce soon.

I like Kawhi but he is not the same dominant and hustle player on both defense and offense just like before so the money they are offering with right now is not truly worth it compared if they will invest on top pick for long term development of the team. They are betting that Kawhi will be healthy and carry the team while most of the NBA team nowadays are full of strong young talent that can dominate Kawhi already even assuming he will be on his top condition.

In the NBA today, even average players, and sometimes those below average, are earning salaries that many top players in the 2000s could only dream of. In my opinion, NBA players have become too spoiled by all the big money. As for Duren's situation, his decisions, whether driven by greed or something else, will ultimately not lead to anything good for him. There's a risk that in the future, neither the Pistons nor any other team will offer him a similar contract again.

it was certain that Luka Doncic be the main player after the Lakers trade but i never thought every single contract would be made with Doncic's personal approval. He really built a team around himself with his own hands and it looks like they're going to play Doncic ball this season.
They have no LeBron now, so no one is messing around with Doncic. He is the king of the LA Lakers now, and if they want to succeed, they need to build around him. Reaves is playing at a very high level too, but Doncic is just different. The Lakers will eventually start looking like the new Dallas, built around Luka, while Dallas... I really don't know what direction that team is going anymore. yes. i liked the team that was put together. they were caught between Walker Kessler and Jalen Duren for the center position but they chose Kessler because they thought he would offer better consistency, fits his age profile and aligns better with the team's style of play. imo he's definetely a great addition. Quentin Grimes also is a scorer who can take some pressure off Doncic.
