Knicks seem to be getting their first win tonight.

I thought it would be another loss as they struggled and could not dominate in the first half, but in the 2nd half, this is where we see what this team is capable of, they had a good run and are now dominating with a 20+ point lead. I think Detroit won't be able to come back especially since the Knicks are a good 4th quarter team.

Looks like it, but we should not be too excited, the game is not over yet. Especially if you were able to bet on this game, I think the spread is -4.5, so you hope that they will continue their performance, and don't play relax in the 4th since they have a big lead, but well it's not the attitude of the Knicks, though you can never be sure until the game is over.

Hope next time the Heat will break their losing streak.

Steph Curry had himself a game tonight. He scored 24 points on 100% shooting. This included 3 3-pointers and 5 free throws. The warriors ended up beating the Nuggets by 20. These are the kind of nights that are possible when you have Steph on your team. A shame this talent is going to be wasted the rest of his career.

Agreed and the Nuggets was a very big favorite for that game which made it a headshaking bet for me. If I am not using the spread I expect a lead by the favorite. I do not want the feeling  that the underdog might win as the game is being played heheheh.

It is very much similar to what I like with the Lakers who is presently playing against the Trailblazers. I bet on the Lakers as the favorite without using the spread and I watch them lead the game and I expect them to maintain this until the game is finished. Mental relaxation hehehehehe.

I didn’t watch the game myself but the match is indeed in favor of the Knicks in the late game. I always like Piston and Knicks rivalry they always have an unpredictable ending even if the first half shows a different result for the outcome of the game.

I just noticed that Jalen Duren is not playing for the Pistons but still they have a good new center to replace Duren as the starter which I believe Pistons will continue their streak if he is playing.

Anthony Edwards out two months with a knee surgery. Back to back hits for the Timberwolves after taking their first loss of the LaMelo era.

What the hell is going on with the NBA early this season? We have seen a lot of injuries already,

Quote
Anthony Edwards (knee surgery)
Kawhi Leonard (knee swelling)
Jalen Williams (fractured fibula)
Ben Simmons (torn achilles)
Paolo Banchero (ankle sprain)
Jaren Jackson Jr. (torn MCL)
Kristaps Porzingis (illness)
Cason Wallace (shoulder)
Jalen Suggs (knee contusion)
Jalen Duren (hamstring)

https://www.facebook.com/basketballforever/posts/were-only-a-week-into-the-season-and-weve-seen-so-many-players-fall-to-injury-an/1590156989822215/

But this could favor teams that will remain healthy by extreme luck and then go on to play that grueling 82 games, and be in the playoff. Although it's good to see some players that have recovered from last year like Kyrie and Hali and playing like they haven't had that season ending injuries and have to recover for a year.

That many injuries wouldn't have been surprising, say, in the middle of the season, but right at the start, when the teams had played only a few games, it's really strange. While no one is immune to an injury like the one Jalen suffered, the players who tore ligaments or suffered strains probably could have avoided it if they had worked harder on their bodies during the offseason. My point is that building muscle strength and stretching properly at least reduces the risk of this type of injury, especially at the start of the season, when the stress on a player's body isn't that high yet.

I saw a podcast earlier where older players were saying that the NBA doesn’t have intense training camps anymore. Players try to use the regular season to get in shape after partying all summer leading to injuries. That’s what the old heads say anyway. I think they’re just getting the most out of human bodies these days and people are literally breaking.

he hasn't shown his real value this season yet, and now an injury has happened. Seems like the max contract was a bad decision, but it's still too early to tell anyway, I just hope the Pistons won't regret their decision. But anyway that's alright as the Knicks needed a win and they got it, I thought they would be racing with the Miami Heat to see how long they could stay winless.

There's no lie in this. We have not seen another player today, like young LeBron who have been running back and forth at full speed, dunking so hard, and jumping so high but rarely suffered significant or long term injury. With his size, if he hasn't taken care of his body, he should've been long retired.
Any player today who does what LeBron did in his younger years is very susceptible to a long term injury.

According to past data, the average missed games for the stars per season in 2000-2010 was 10-14 games. While the average in 2020-2026 is almost 24 games.

Players who played 80+ games in 2000-2010 was at 26%. While in 2020-2026 declined significantly at 4%.

This shows that current NBA players lacks body conditioning and durability training.

I also agree with the fact that it is too soon to tell whether the max contract was the best decision for Duren. Injuries can affect the performance of a whole team in a very negative way, and Pistons will have to be sure that there will be another player who can help the team perform well during his absence. If Pistons' new center continues to perform well, they will still have the possibility to extend their winning streak. However, what is important for Knicks is that they finally won and gained some confidence. They should try not to return to losing again. Pistons have a good team, so no need to worry about this single defeat.

This Anthony Edwards surgery is most likely going to keep him from playing in 65 games this season and being eligible for a supermax contract extension. That means he now won’t be the first player to make a million dollars per game. Bad deal for Ant unless he can pop back quick and not miss any more games this year.

This NBA season might not be as exciting because of these injuries, and most probably we will see a new team win the championship, whichever team manages to stay healthier. It's just sad to see all of this happening so early in the season, and yesterday it was Jalen Williams who got injured. (Maybe this really is the season for the Spurs.)

Imagine seeing this https://www.espn.com/nba/injuries to many notable players got injured.

Then imagine NBA newly started and many players been added in the list. Its really terrible seeing this, also I guess the team which have high chance to win a championship are those who can manage to stay healthy on whole season.

Jallen Williams is the most scariest one this season. I hope he recovers, because somehow that man is exciting and really contributes on OKC.

If lots of star players of a possible team to be in the playoffs probably yes this will be the season where there is an easy walk in the park for other teams and we might see a team that is not supposed to be in the finals be in the finals and make the finals a boring one, but lets see if this injuries will hunt the star players of the teams, but hopefully this is just a unfortunate accident that was never expected to happen fast recovery for everyone who is injured, we dont want this to happen to players.

I just noticed that Jalen Duren is not playing for the Pistons but still they have a good new center to replace Duren as the starter which I believe Pistons will continue their streak if he is playing.
he hasn't shown his real value this season yet, and now an injury has happened. Seems like the max contract was a bad decision, but it's still too early to tell anyway, I just hope the Pistons won't regret their decision. But anyway that's alright as the Knicks needed a win and they got it, I thought they would be racing with the Miami Heat to see how long they could stay winless.

That’s exactly same thought when I check that he is already injured with just few games in the season. For him, it’s a contract well done but for Pistons it’s like a scam.  Grin

I believe they will be more lethal this season since they are improving every year while they already have Reed as good alternative center that is working so far this season.

In previous years, we didn't see such major injuries. Last season, Haliburton spent the entire year recovering, and Indiana finished the season poorly.
This season, Haliburton is with the team, and Indiana is performing well.
I wonder how OKC will perform in Jalen Williams' absence.
His absence will also weaken OKC's offensive power.
He will be sidelined for 4 to 6 months.

Ja Morant did the Dame time with Lillard after the big bucket on the three-point line. Trail Blazers won against the Lakers. Portland is now 3-0, and the Lakers received their first loss.
Who would've thought? Those two are playing great together. Ja penetrates. Damian shoots outside. It's actually kind of scary. They could actually become like the Luka-Kyrie duo back in the Mavs. With no losses, they will have more confidence that their team is strong. All they need is to build more chemistry, and this NBA season could become unpredictable. Many teams are showing strength. I don't even see OKC or the Spurs in the Finals anymore. Although it is still early to say. Wink

I don't recall seeing so many injuries discussed so early in the season in previous years. Why is it like this this year? Did the players not get enough vacation or prepare properly during the summer?
If this continues, all the players will be struggling with injuries and won't be able to focus on the season. Almost every team has at least one basketball player with a minor injury, and I think this situation so early in the season is something we're not used to

Probably a conditioning and also the player might not disclosing his health even though they are being check, they might be dealing with something, to avoid or not to jeopardized a big offer they might keeping it to themselves because if they were check and know that is dealing with something, the offers might be different or they might get traded.
This season might be not as exciting as we hope so, but hope they get back strong, so that we would see a better competition for each schedules.

With the 2 major injuries to OKC players, the media has been asking about the possibility of OKC bringing Russell Westbrook out of retirement to join the team. I question if Russ would even entertain this idea, but it seems like a good way for him to end his career in an OKC jersey and help save the team’s season.

I think Ant might have caused a bit of this on himself, the knee injury isn’t a new one, I believe it was the same right knee that limited him during the playoffs, but he chose (probably on doctors suggestions) not to operate on it during his the offseason, with the hope of it healing. Now they’re deciding to get the surgery after all, it’s better early now during the season than the later stages of the season or during the playoffs again.

I actually don’t agree with this take, sometimes I feel like these so called old heads never takes any chance of not discrediting the new generation whenever they can.

These injuries are not from players being out of shape, these are bones being broken and knees getting dislocated from the highest level of athleticism the game has ever seen imo, the game was physical back in the end days as they always claim, but if we’re being honest was it as pacy or requires the same level of athleticism we see now ? of course, these injuries are borne out of limits to the human body. If the debate is about how some of the injuries could be avoided by players not prioritizing high injury-risk style of basketball like that of Jalen Williams or Ant attacking the paint as not so big guys and having high chances of awkward landing, I would agree, but attributing the injuries to the players summer lifestyle is just baseless imo.
