Hey, can you do me a favor and post the text you use to pull data from Poloniex into your spreadsheet? I use the coinmarket cap feed and I couldn't make the switch to Poloniex work.

I'd really appreciate it.

Pablo.

Lot of selling pressure right now.
As often when BTC is going north...

We'll see if this BTC rally is due to auction that is for the 4th of November? (not sure of the date).

yeah, i'm noticing it too. I suspect some daytraders are converting Dash to BTC due to the rising BTC price
(mostly originating from Chinese exchange Huobi). I'm not so sure its related to the auction as thats taking place in the USA while all the
buy-pressure is emerging from China due to increasing volume on the exchanges there.

With the Chinese economy showing signs of slowing down, maybe traders are looking for ways to avoid the Chinese
monetary control systems in place there ..

(put interval on 1W and Indicator on OBV and you will see what i mean)

I guess we will have a bumpy road ahead, as will all altcoins.

Yes you are probably right.

For Dash I think it's fine : 4K sell on Polo and 1K sell on crypty during the same half am hour, I still ~72.

For BTC what amaze me is the diference between the sites :
Bitstamp 348.16
BTC-e 319.474
Bitfinex 348.98
Huobi 365.21/2303.03

What happen with arbitrage??

That is a good question, i'm not sure how fast arbitrage could work across all these different exchanges. Maybe someone can enlighten us..

Edit : it could be that for the Chinese traders its more attractive to stay in Bitcoin currently (instead of the weak CNY FIAT) then the other exchanges who have
safe havens in the form of stronger EURO & USD FIAT...

Think about how slow it is to move BTC between sites, 30 mins if your lucky, more likely an hour. And fiat takes 2-4 days. Unless you were fully stocked with both on all exchanges the arbitrage ability is limited on a quick run up like right now. I would assume most anyone that was in a position to make money on the difference has done so.

Sure, but what about :

Someone have $ and BTC on bitfinex (or Bitstamp), and Yuan and BTC on the chineese, then all is possible.

I guess it's more like you can't easily open an account there if you are not chineese?
And vice-versa..?

You can certainly create an account on the Chinese BTC sites and sell BTC at the high rate - but you can't withdraw dollars to a US bank account, for instance, so it becomes somewhat impossible to complete the arbitrage loop. There are ways to do it. But likely you need to have a presence and banking relationships setup in multiple countries. Or conspire with someone actually in China for instance.

It's a smash & grab. Huobi just went over $380.

As long as the alts don't totally decouple (which they mostly don't), I'd expect a bit of a dip followed by a rally as the elastic takes up the strain.

I tried signing upto huobi and had an email but with not link for confirmation, it looked like an error message in Chinese.
what did I do wrong?

Dash is 27.3 times faster with syncing and updating than Bitcoin and 93.7 times faster than Monero. Bitcoin (v0.11.0) has a Tao ratio 11.2% faster than bitcoin (v0.10.0) release.
Dash (v.0.12.0.49) = Tao sync ratio = 0.15 seconds / hour of update || Dash (v.0.11.2.23) = Tao sync ratio = 0.24 seconds / hour of update. V12 versus V11 speedup = +36.5%
Bitcoin (v.0.11.0) = Tao sync ratio = 4.14 seconds / hour of update || Monero (v.0.41.1)  = Tao sync ratio = 14.2 seconds / hour of update

This is exciting. I don't think I've checked the time in China for nearly 2 years  Wink

(China waking up in...  Cool  )

P.S. I don't understand why all the big trades on Huobi appear to be sells and yet the price keeps rising.

EDIT: Probably because traders place their buy orders just inside the spread and then they get sold into, rather than buying into the asks.

Well, from this level it took about 10 days to get to $1000 bitcoin back in 2013.

Looking at the volume on Huobi it's going to take about 10 hours this time  Cool

No need to worry about Dash right now. Masternode population performing. Market performing. Surfing the bitcoin wave.

a big whack of coins found their way out of cold storage according to days destroyed

What is "days destroyed" ?

I've heard that term banded about quite a lot but have never been bothered to properly investigate it. Is it the total number of days that bitcoins are not in use ? (Or sit in the same address).
