Is it a waste of time mentioning Bitcoin to friends and family?

I have considered telling my family and some of my friends about Bitcoin but whenever I've tried, they fail to understand why it does have value and why it is extremely important specially in the current socioeconomic context.. they don't get it and see it as something really strange. Needless to say I wouldn't tell them to put any money on it. In a way it feels like im keeping something amazing to myself, but at the same time, I don't want to put people into the pressure of holding through rallies long term because most people aren't cut for that.

How to introduce Bitcoin to absolutely clueless people and is there even a point? Should we just let time pass and wait for them to naturally learn about it once it goes more mainstream?

I talk frequently with friends and family about bitcoin, I like to blow people's mind.

And I always advise not to buy, usually that's not even a problem because they are not tech savvy enough to do it...

Just let them see what is bitcoin share some experience you have when you work with this site. In that case some of your relative will the first one to ask you what kind of business is that. just like that give them proof

Just tell them about the bitcoin and its functions. Do not recommend them to buy or less. They have to make their own decisions.

I talk to them about it but they just constantly tell me to sell whenever there is any price increase, I don't ever recommend either to buy as then I become the blame if they lose money or anything and I wouldn't want to put a strain on any friendships.

I told my mom I made some BTC on the internet (besides the one I tend to buy monthly with my wage as dollar cost average method) and I always get the same response: "when are you going to sell some of it? what if it falls?" they never believe in long term, always want to sell it and buy something. I showed her how my BTC went up $150+ since it went from 230 floor to the new 380 floor, holding works.

It is worth talking to people about it even if it is just laying the foundation, sooner or later they will hear about bitcoin in the news and from other sources and will already have a little bit of understanding. 

It is always worth mentioning this forum as a place to go to start with then they can do as much or as little research as they like, there are also faucets which they can use to get some satoshi so they can see how it all works.

I have spoken to a few people but interest is quite low although when the price shot up last week they seemed a bit more interested

Actually that is real problem to talk with friends and family about BTCitcoin because it is some what complicated to understand the whole mechanism in first meeting i think talk regularly and let them do make search about this if they are really interested they can find a lot of informative materiel in these it more easy to understand.

For me it is wast of time. Even when i talk with friends they tell me I am crazy. For them bitcoin is some virtual scam.But I am persistent and I hope in time they will get it. I think bitcoin is here to stay so it's never gonna be late to join this ride, it is just matter who will take best seats.

If you talked with your friends when it was around $250 so now great time to talk about it again because now price has been increased incredibly amazing so it can make them to let know more about bitcoin what is it and how it works.

i had the same problem just like you when i'm telling about bitcoin to my family but when I talk about it to my friends

they look interested To find out more about bitcoin and some of them already use bitcoin for purchase they needs

My mum uses faucets, has her own Xapo wallet and uses Coinbase too. She's fairly well aware of the 'micro-economy' but she still doesn't understand what it can be spent on. Purse.io was a cool app to her, but she hasn't seen it in action!

No, just because your not seeing any results from the efforts you've made til now for introducing bitcoin, doesn't mean it's a waste of time... I would have surprised if they understood how it works and how great it is in terms of use and its potential... I've tried to go step by step since I'm the only tech person in my family (it sucks) and explaining to them the BTCitcoin is like explaining a college algebra to a elementary kid so it really takes time before they get a piece of how it works...I'm getting close there but it's just really hard teaching non tech people about it specially if their old...I suggest to gather them all up and try to compile some videos from YouTube that explains it real good and let them watch from time to time... I've seen positive results this way in shorter amount of time since the known speakers of BTCitcoin community do know how to attract people to BTCitcoin

No it definitely is now, my parents have shown greater interest in Bitcoins rather than in Gold. They often monitor the Bitcoin prices, but they don't trade in it or purchase it. Also, they ask about how it's performing once in a while when they're not monitoring it. A couple of my friends already have a fair idea about Bitcoins, but they can't find an easier way to buy it without worrying about being taxed.

Really you'll get depressed. Yeah! When ever i try to explain (not how bitcoin was working and what the heck is that, but i tried to simply how to use it) to my friends they always laught at me. Because, they didn't beleived me as i failed to make money on PTC sites, they thought bitcoin too like that. And when i try to explain to my parents, simply they didn't give any reaction and saw me as an alien/stranger

just keep it simple. talk about the money aspect first!

how can i sent 1 USD to a girl in japan who posted a funny cat picture on her facebook/twitter account (or a song etc) ? only possible with bitcoin.

simple answer:

reason:
right now think about your friends and families lives.. how they earn their income and what do they spend it on.
are there any shops in your city that will accept bitcoin. who will sell car fuel, toilet paper, cigarettes, alcohol, baked beans, meat, clothing.

ask yourself do any of your relatives shop online. and if so do those online stores accept bitcoin..

now the real question.. if you just handed them 1BTC, how useful would that bitcoin be to give your friend and family something to live on and pay the bills for a week..

now, if its not useful as a real world lifestyle currency right now in your city.. dont explain bitcoin as the worlds best currency.. they wont see it..

however
if they are not natives (thus foreign ancestry) and they send funds oversee's to relatives.
if they just go abroad alot and are sick of the exchange rates/transfer fee's of fiat
if they are in business and want to accept international customers without said exchange rates/transfer fee's
if they are interested in investments.

then that would be your key discussion topic.. showing, not telling.. showing them how less stressful bitcoin is compared to fiat money movements.

as for investments. i would say for the complete sceptic, just throwing $200 at an investment is a safe risk.. as its only a few days of wages and not a big deal.
dont be trying to overstate and exagerate bitcoins current position trying to coax people into multi-thousand dollar investments.

dont try over stating and overagerating the future..

keep to reality and keep to the discussion of your friends/families understanding level. using real life examples where appropriate.

that said bitcoin is still in the innovation era, and has a long way to go before granpa and granma would use it to buy their knitting needles and Y-front underwear using bitcoin.

so use some eye-wash to clear away the glaze of bitcoins potential and think long and hard about bitcoins reality, and tailor that to your friends/families needs..
if there is no solution to families needs. then wait it out until bitcoin expands.. and even better, you yourself fill that void. getting your local stores to accept bitcoin while you wait.. after all its your local store. in your town. so you would be perfect to get your local stores to accept bitcoin, to expand its usefulness

it seems so, they don't believe at all that bitcoin can overcome fiat one day, or even play a big role along side with it, they just see it as an instrument for trading, for quick money

Yes it's worth, if they show some interest. You shouldn't at all pressure them and be boring. That's my experience and trust me I have introduced it to many people.

You mention it and you look at their reaction. If someone is interested, he or she will even come and pull your sleeve to tell them more. If they look at you blank just drop it right away.

No it's not a waste of time even if they don't care for it or believe it has value. It still gets bitcoin into th heads and when they hear more about it or start seeing it being adopted they might take more care. Don't stop telling people about it because we still need to spread the word even if people don't care for it now they might in the future.

I tell my friends about bitcoin and how to get bitcoin with signature campaign, a result he was very interested because according to him easily earn money just by posting.

But if I tell my family about bitcoin none believe bitcoin, they think everything will be over scam.

maybe because you are not showing them how they can buy toilet paper at your nearest store. or baked beans or any lifestyle stuff.. but i guess thats because you have no local store which accepts it..

so if your talking to people who dont really invest, about some new money maker that you are literally screaming that it is a guaranteed win.. it will sound like a ponzi..

so learn who you are talking to, and how they actually spend their money.. then SHOW them something they usually do, but done via bitcoin..
dont exaggerate bitcoins potentials to people that will never use those potentials.

and if all you can say is that the price rise will make them $$$$ profit... then that would burst any statements that bitcoin will take over fiat..
after all if fiat dies, there wont be a $$ .. because fiats dead!!
