I have introduced the bitcoin faucets to many people just like PTC sites. They love the free bitcoins. I believe they are collecting all the bitcoin's and hopefully they have not spent anything from that collection.

I don't think it would be a waste at all. Though personally, I think it would take more than simply talking about it to them to get them to really be interested in it. If they hear enough people talk about it, maybe they would get interested in it though.

My uncle caught onto this very quickly, because he is a Doom's day prepper. He has fears over the pending global financial collapse and he is preparing for that. He was looking into alternative payment methods and inflation proof currencies and I introduced him to Bitcoin.

I gifted him 0.5 BTC in the beginning and he has since given 1 BTC back with interest. He has this theory that fiat currencies will collapse and alternative currencies and old bartering systems will return. He is stocking up on food and cigarettes and also some bitcoin. ^hmf^

Yes the faucets are the point that everybody is getting accepted and getting attracted to. Faucets are doing very good work for attracting new users into bitcoin ecosystem. I will try your idea of getting the people via faucets.

I have considered telling my family and some of my friends about Bitcoin but whenever I've tried, they fail to understand why it does have value and why it is extremely important specially in the current socioeconomic context.. they don't get it and see it as something really strange. Needless to say I wouldn't tell them to put any money on it. In a way it feels like im keeping something amazing to myself, but at the same time, I don't want to put people into the pressure of holding through rallies long term because most people aren't cut for that.

How to introduce Bitcoin to absolutely clueless people and is there even a point? Should we just let time pass and wait for them to naturally learn about it once it goes more mainstream?

 I once tried to explain how banking works to one of my friend that its just paper. And he laughed at me, I told him how money is created but he said we will see. Bitcoin was a whole new level for him. A virtual currency , First question was can it get hacked ? I explained him about blockchain and stuff but not much interest was shown. People dont like to challenge the norm thats the problem here. No matter how you present it. This is a major problem.

Exactly, they hesitate in experimenting with their money in something that they really don't know, I recommended few of my friends but they were simply not interested and they said its better to invest in something reliable rather than investing in bitcoins, the only thing came to my mind was this guys are gonna regret in the future when they would come to know that I am a super rich guy

To be honest i feel that yes, it's a waste of time. Whenever i mention it, whether in my family or when hanging out with my mates they moan because they think they know what it is and they think it's useless and a waste of time.

But I keep doing that because i feel like one day bitcoins will be the dominant currency and promoting it is a worthwhile cause.

If you explain Bitcoin well enough to them, then they will definitely see the benefit of Bitcoin. People who think it's useless simply don't know Bitcoin, even though they say they do. Bitcoin is superior at this moment, people would save themself a lot time and money if they started using Bitcoin instead of old fashion banks and payment processors.

Bitcoins have gained success and popularity over the years. The world is progressing now. People are becoming now more and more tech-savvy. People are now considering doing anything wireless without physical movement. The same is what people want with currency now. They want it to be easy and tech-related. Bitcoins are the best choice for this generation and there's nothing waste of time in recommending it to family and friends. This will increase no. Internet Explorer is probably the lamest, or one of the lamest web browsers out there but still, the most commonly used worldwide.
But what do I mean here? Regular everyday normal mot**** people don't like trying something new as long as what they already know works fine enough.
Now think about all the worries that bitcoin brings about in terms of security in the minds of these people who'd like to keep it simple? Well you've got your answer: people won't learn how to secure a computer just for the sake of something they don't feel like needing.
Now that might be because I'm from a remote countryside with a rather conservative background, but still, I truly believe that people think of bitcoin as being too much of a hassle, while their own everyday currency/banking system works fine enough in their minds (and I'm talking about the Euro here  ).
A lot of changes in mentalities will be needed before bitcoin can start to have a ghost of a chance of success with these people.

Last week a friend of mine finally bought his first bitcoin. I told him a long time about it and we also made a presentation together about Bitcoin in a lecture. I guess he knows what he is doing as he really had enough time to think about it and I gave him so much informations.Furthermore he is dealing with penny stocks from time to time so he will enjoy the rollercoaster here.

To the average person, Bitcoin is not something of interest. So yes, it's practically a waste of time. If you are talking about finances and the general economy, it's probably worth mentioning and discussing. Going up to a family member and randomly talking about bitcoin seems random and a bit awkward honestly. There usually has to be some sort of context of money before a foreign concept like BTC can be discussed.

im my opinion no, my cousin introduced me to bitcoin and hes the reason i started using it. i became interested in bitcoin and just got hooked onto it. i always mention it to my friends and im trying to get them to use it.
