I've been monitoring the Wirex/E-coin thread for the past weeks and some really suspicious activity has been reported by users. Many users are being unable to see funds loaded in their account, and others are unable to withdraw. Most calls for support go unanswered until users go public with their complaints. Seeing as to how other bitcoin services have silently pulled a MtGox on users with big balances we have to be extra cautious.

I'm putting Wirex/E-coin in the quarantine list and would advise everyone to stay away from their services. Here's a list of quotes from Wirex/E-coin users reporting faults in their service recently:

They are having issues with their bank. Their bank said I had reached my lifetime limits too even tho I never spent more than a few hundred dollars with my real card. Nevertheless, I contacted their support, Alena took my case and after a few days of working with the bank she successfully could transfer my funds in BTC so I could move them. I think Wirex is stuck with issues with the bank and they are trying hard to fix them.  

Alena keeps transferring my support requests to other people.
Other people keep telling me LIES about card limits.
I keep saying I had a BRAND NEW EURO card that wouldn't even load 410 EURO.
I am at the point that I am telling her to stop allowing her workers to LIE to me, give me my money back.
I am now accusing them of scam excuses and stealing.  I keep asking for my money back, and they keep lying about card limits.
I explain that I do not want to load any more cards.  I just want my money back.

They won't give it back.

e-coin has taken my money.  410 Euros, and 252.40 USD

I have deposited bitcoin then attempted to transfer to virtual cards, not exceeding the monthly or daily limits.
The Euro card was new with no limits used for the day or month.  I tried to load the cards and received an "unknown error...."
The money was taken and not returned to my account or put on my virtual cards.

I contacted support, and was told I have reached a "lifetime limit".
I am guessing my account itself as an overall limit?  This is a NEW LIMIT e-coin created???
Because a brand new, unused EURO card was not letting me load.  I reached no daily or monthly limits.

The error message did not say I reached a limit.
It said unknown error.

I have an emergency, I must pay bills.
They said I reached a limit and did NOT return my bitcoins!   They are telling me I have to do all this verification now.  Stalling me.  I don't have time for this.  Virtual cards did not require verification in the past year.  I need to pay overdue bills NOW.  I need my money back so that I can have them back and find another service that works.

Can you please help?

Hey, I am not able to deposit bitcoin. I tried it on both ecoin website and wirex app in both the cases I am not able to see my deposit address I also sent a support ticket about 24hrs ago I haven't got any reply yet.

Take care when using wirex... transfer to credit card was failed and they are holding my bitcoin (500$) since 3 days without any reply to multiple support request.

E-Coin has been keeping 500$ of mine hostage. I can't fucking believe this...

I loaded my account with my hard earned money to go on a shopping spree for Christmas... Their support doesn't respond and the money doesn't even appear in my account in spite of the transaction having been confirmed for more than 4 days. Thanks for ruining Christmas so early E-Coin. This is perfectly valid evidence to suspect that E-Coin is planning on turning into a scam, if you can pull out money from them, stop using their services now!

I think that we're in agreement, I was just suggesting to hat users that accusations should better come with evidence.

After talking in PM with him, he somehow had the staff to answer my tickets...

But this should be a clear warning to everyone that this is no way to handle a online business to have to make bad talk on a forum to be able to get answer on a damn ticket...

By the way, my money still gone.. they are looking into it... they must wait answer from bank?? even tho the money deposited on the card clearly says ''failed transfer'' i dont understand what bank has to do with this... money failed to transfer to them... you are the one i deposited bitcoin to, not them, if you do not put money on my card then not touch my bitcoin... anyway!!

Will wait tomorow to see whatsup....

I sincerely hope they resolve.

No, you don't get access to a full bank account in your name plus you only access the card's services through the interface of the service you chose. If you're talking about bank grade security though, I admitedly don't know. It surely has to be more insured than letting your bitcoins sit in the wallet of a service that you have no direct control on.

I don't see an explanation but rather responses trying to reassure customers. I really do hope issues will get sorted out for users because it seems like there are several cases of people having problems with E-Coin's service as of lately, which is worrying.

Not at all, just any service that offers card with iban. I think viabuy does this. Do you think it is possible to withdraw paypal money to it?

Not at all, just any service that offers card with iban. I think viabuy does this. Do you think it is possible to withdraw paypal money to it?

I've only been monitoring bitcoin debit card services so I don't know.much about this. I've seen some people here offering bank accounts but those are essentially "proxied" bang services and hence largely trust based. I'm not aware of any bitcoin related service officialy offering what you ask for to be honest.

I'd like to say that I do NOT think wirex is scam, and i doubt htey will be turning into one, if they do, it would be very surprising, as for mtgox they got hacked, same thing can happen to anyone! but i dont think they have it planned.

When you post shit on the forum, then you talk with the e-coin / wirex guy on the forum, you can your problem resolved in a matter of 1 day.

However........ if you happen to not be on the forum, well, i have bad news for you.... good luck getting your problem solved!

I'd say i give their cusutmer support from this forum a 5/5 but without complaining on this forum it is 0/5 custumer service!!!

Anyway, to all bitcointalk users as long as the staff from wirex/e-coin continue to be active on the forum, i think it is safe to assume that we will get our problem solved pretty quick with their help.

Thanks for posting here with your experience, I really appreciate it. Customer service is important when dealing with money, but IMO if infrastructure of the service was better Wirex/E-coin wouldn't have been facing a support request backlog ash Gosha is saying. I'm still unsure about Wirex/E-coin but I really hope that there won't be any long-term issues for their users.

Has anybody had any luck using CEX.IO's card topup service? I remember that cex's support was good from back in the day there were GH/s trades there but I haven't heard much about their new set of services.

I wasn't planning on removing Wirex from the list, but the fact that the issues went unannounced seem to have caused inconveniences to many people. What I'll do is to update my reply to this thread in which I warned about issues with Wirex reported by users.

Uquid has BitPay rates + 0.5% card loading fee, this is something hard to beat.
Also, ANXPRO seems to have interesting fee structures but I have no idea how much their cards cost and IIRC you can't even see order costs unless you verify your account. Do look into it if you're looking for a high profile bitcoin debit card and let me know.

Uquid has BitPay rates + 0.5% card loading fee, this is something hard to beat.

I think Coinsbank is 0.5% trading fee so total is around the same? But you're getting market rates on the exchange which may be better/worse then the actual market rates with Bitpay. Coinsbank also offers variable cashback, currently around 0.753% but I think you can only use that to pay the fees.

It's hard to figure out just how much it costs to load the card for both Coinsbank and Uquid cos they don't put that info on their website. See https://uquid.com/fees for example, no mention of the 0.5% load fee.

Any Coinsbank users here to share their experience regrading costs?

What is the EUR quote you're getting right now? I'm seeing 715.36 on Coinsbank.
