sell monero for btc or eth and buy pivx with btc/eth ?

you can do this on binance for example.
if i remember right you can wd coins for about ~4btc/day on binance without KYC (not sure anymore)

cheers

edit forgot: u can also change monero to pivx direct on https://changelly.com/ (have never used it but should be trustworthy)

As DRPD says, if you want a traditional exchange, Binance is still probably your best bet even though they don't yet offer direct fiat-crypto trades (they will soon). Their fees are relatively low so even if you go XMR > BTC > PIVX, it's not too bad. The daily withdrawal limit is 2 BTC without KYC, and 100 BTC or more after KYC. Binance currently has BTC, ETH, and BNB pairs for PIVX.

If you don't mind using a non-traditional exchange, then your two best bets are https://changelly.com/ and https://flyp.me/ . Both of these let you trade directly from XMR to PIVX. The downside is the volume may be lower, and you can't easily do limit trading--so while the fees are lower overall, you can't 'play' the market as easily to take advantage of price dips.

PIVX now listed on South Africa's only exchange ChainEXIO to support Rand (ZAR) fiat trading
https://chainex.io/

Nice, meaning more PIVX paired with fiat currency will strengthen it price

~snip~

Remove your referral link which not allowed to promote into any thread. This could be risky to let sitting our coins on unknown wallets we can lose it easily. IO would not recommend this while we do this into our personal than why we need this.

Block DX will be great option soon. 100% decentralized and asset to asset trading. PIVX is already compatible and Monero will probably be very soon too.
If you wait until July, then you don't need to download blockchains for the coins you are trading.  Cool   Cool   Cool

Here is more info abot BlockDX: https://www.blocknet.co/

Hello PIVX believers,

Our aim is to add value to the whole crypto community by giving the best user experience to analyse cryptocurrencies.

It would be really great help from your side if you can spend 60 seconds of your time and give us your valuable feedback for our two recent updates 1) Snapshot and 2) Colourful interface of PIVX at: https://cointopper.com/coin/pivx

Constructive criticisms are always welcome at CoinTopper.  Thank you!!

Its a great project with a lot of thing going on really good for them. It's on of (if not) the best privacy coins out there and if you can affor a masternode you should definitely set it up because the price will only go up from here and it's a great investment for long term passive income which is the best option in this unstable market. Do your own due diligence, but PIVX is one of the best Masternode coins alongside Dash and VeChain right now.

Here is Turtleflax's (PIVX support) response to the same question on Reddit:

Quote
On a technical level, you can't ban privacy coins without banning crypto, and you can't ban crypto without shutting down the internet. There are too many domestic, foreign, and decentralized exchanges already for fiat gateways to really control people converting bitcoin to any other coin they choose. Further moves against privacy coins will only make PIVX shine brighter because we'll soon have zDEX built into our network which allows private exchanges for other coins.

   > Does that mean we as PIVX holders will be come criminals in the future?

No, nobody has even floated this idea that holding any coin would make you a criminal. Conversely, holding a transparent coin like bitcoin can get you in hot water if that coin had history in a hack or darknet market transaction.

   > Is there any consumer protection against such kind of government behavior?

From a political perspective, vote. From an economic perspective, support privacy coins to support your right to privacy. From a technical perspective, support censorship resistant technology.

   > How would you react if that law becomes widespread thru out the world???

There are hundreds of billions of dollars in economic activity already in this very young space. It is highly unlikely that many countries will turn their nose up at that.

We've always had the option for financial privacy with cash money. The banking system reduces that privacy and now transparent crypto reduces it further. Privacy coins seek to maintain that level of privacy. Your right to privacy is not suddenly evil or problematic. Nobody faults the US Dollar for gambling.

Personally, I agree in principle with most of those points; however, while I don't think a ban would ever be 100% effective, I do think those sorts of government actions have the potential to discourage casual/inexperienced users. In other words, a ban doesn't have to be complete or even enforceable to have an effect (think of something like home distilling--you could make moonshine in your basement and the government would never know, yet the fact that you're not supposed to is enough to discourage many people). I have always assumed that crypto will ultimately move toward a two-tiered system, with 'mainstream' blockchain projects that are endorsed or even managed by traditional financial powers (governments, corporations, etc.) on the one hand, and 'grassroots' projects on the other hand, which continue to uphold crypto's decentralized ideals. The thing is, though, PIVX makes its privacy features optional, so in theory it can satisfy the needs of both of those 'tiers'.

One more thought: A frequent criticism of crypto is that there are a lot of ideas and not much concrete, real-world utility. Currently, exchange tokens like Binance Coin, Kucoin Shares, etc. are among the only projects that have already demonstrated their use-cases (again, not talking about hypothetical future use-cases that only exist on paper). From this perspective, privacy coins have a stronger intrinsic use-case (i.e., they allow the anonymous exchange of value) than many other projects out there. So while anti-privacy noise from regulators might discourage casual users, it should also reinforce the current value of privacy coins' use-case. Thus, even if the potential market for privacy coins is reduced by regulation, the market that remains should tend to value privacy more because of that regulation (IMHO).

OK, one last thought: In a way, it may be to the benefit of privacy coins if they end up occupying a smaller market outside the mainstream of blockchain. The fact is, anyone who thinks that cryptocurrencies are going to completely overthrow the financial system and subvert centralized government is extremely naive. If all financial transactions were truly anonymous and unregulated, governments would have no tax base. They are NEVER going to let that happen (and, frankly, not many people would actually want to live in a world without the benefits that come from a strong tax base anyway--infrastructure, services, health care [so sorry, USA], etc.). Just like the home distilling example above, governments are quite happy to wink at a certain amount of illicit activity as long as most people are buying their liquor through official (i.e., taxed) channels. I suspect that the same will be true in the blockchain space.

How can I setup masternode only in my local wallet (without VPS)? Have you guide for this case?

It's actually more secure (and not at all hard) to set up a remote MN so I don't know of many recent guides for doing it locally (especially now that MN collateral can be held on a Ledger). Here's the original version, from the man himself 1 day after the network went live:

OK, It's pretty easy to create a masternode,

Create an Address and Name it MN1 or whatever you want. Send 10k (exactly 10k) DNET to this address. Wait until there are a minimum of 15 confirmations to the transaction.

Then you need to go to the console and type; masternode genkey (record this key)

then go to your darknet.conf file and put the following in the file;

rpcuser=( Create a Random Username)
rpcpassword=( Create a Random Password )
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
listen=1
server=1
daemon=1
logtimestamps=1
maxconnections=256
masternode=1
masternodeprivkey=(place key that was generated by mastered genkey here)

Now make sure your router has port 51472 open to the world. (its just for communications to other masternodes)

after all of the above has been completed reboot your wallet

then go to the console and type; masternode start.

If you followed everything exactly is should work fine.

If you're running Linux you could also try adapting this guide to setting up a local MN on an RPi:

https://forum.pivx.org/t/updated-edited-raspberry-pi-masternode-setup/609

And finally, you can also use this guide for DASH on Windows as a reference (you'll see it's pretty similar to s3v3nh4cks' above):

https://dashpay.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DOC/pages/31326216/Simple+MN+on+a+Windows+machine
