Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

bitcoin indirectly with the internet related to one another , if there is no internet can not do the transaction , and not only bitcoin who require internet , banks only need the Internet to conduct transactions . hopefully in the future there is a bitcoin stores , which can make transactions directly , it does not require internet

This is most likely the case as I see it. The transactions will take place between end users and the business at the end of the day.

Well it will be incredibly difficult to make any transactions without internet using Bitcoin. If you intend on transacting almost peer to peer but technically "outside" of the blockchain, if there was a single central system for Bitcoin transactions that could be withdrawn at a later point, that would work. But chances are having a system like that exist are extremely slim, and it just doesn't make sense to have a system like that in place.

Nothing. You still have your private keys, your addresses, and you're still in control of your bitcoins. You just cannot spend it just yet.

The information will still be there, although transactions will stop. If Bitcoin is of enough interest in a situation like that (probably there will be much more other things to care about if Internet goes down), probably a radio system or other way to register transactions and continue on might be invented. Perhaps producing forks lol.

But if it is a temporary downtime, it will just continue when connection goes up again.

given the cayos happening in the world i wouldn't be surprised of nuclear war and in this case i would expect internet disruption question is what happens to Bitcoin if internet goes down?

home internet and mobile internet goes down

do not mean trade bitcoin to buy/sell i mean using it as a way of payment say you wanted to send money to someone abroad for family far away

We go back to gold.

That's also means bitcoin without internet connection will be vainly.
Imagine that sometime internet connection disappear. Will be so terrible with bitcoin.

then the next phase of decentralization would occur - mesh networks. You have a radio tower in your home, right now - your wifi router.

It's almost like it dies without the internet but I'm sure someone is working on physical coins in the near future hopefully. We can never know for sure what'll happen unless the internet actually does go down, which might never happen

I understand that Bitcoins obviously can't be traded without the internet, but, is this true only as long as the internet stays down? If the central internet technology went down for an hour, for example, would our bitcoins still be in the blockchain when the internet was back up, or would they be lost forever?

Nothing will be happen to your bitcoins they will not be lost. I guess the difficulty of mining will be dcreased because all of the miners will be down . So it is positive for miners and maybe the price of bitcoins will decrease very badly although this is not going to happen. So be happy.

Nothing can be done, if the internet goes off. Some alternate solutions might be initiated if such situations arise. I believe advancement in internet will take place in the future.

Just imagine if only a few miners left how easy for them would be to mine coins.  Smiley But then again the price could decrease so the coins might become almost worthless. ... Well I agree this is not going to happen, ever, period. )

Well the thing is for bitcoin to go down, all nodes all over the world should go offline. So all data centres all over the world should run out of resources.
The chance this will happen is very small, but yes it can happen.

Well come on . This is highly unlikely to happen. Internet cannot go down in this Digital Era. Not only bitcoins, but a lot of other networks and everything depends on the Internet. It can go down for some area for small amount of time, but you cant say that internet is gone forever and so is bitcoins.

I can't imagine if this happen since in order to access bitcoin it need synchronize to server.
In order to synchronize , it need internet to make it work. But if that happen forever , since bitcoin is a digital currency ( can't be hold ) we will lost it forever except you've convert it earlier before internet down !

the only way that such thing can happen is if aliens invade earth for purpose of colonizing!

other than that there is just no possible scenario that internet goes down all over the world.
