The last couple days has made me uncertain.
Price was going up with the announcement of Segwit and the possibility of a service like Mega attracting new users.
$750-800 seemed really easy to reach.

Then some news story about China possibly looking to regulate Bitcoin comes out and the price drops immediately...
(a news story with no source by the way)

I still think Bitcoin is a good long term investment, but the market is way more fragile right now than I was giving it credit for.

Assumption were  wrong  and speculation  of reaching  $800-1k have failed for this  year. Bitcoins price  is decreasing again  as  of now and it continues  to drop again.
When  bitcoin price increase rally rose  up to $750+ , traders  and some  users  do surely sell off their  coins  that really affects the price.
Its just a nature of bitcoin and many holders are satisfied what the price or value of bitcoin. now the price is 699 according to preev price and i think the price will go high again just like last year price before november the price is increase and down in few days and increase again back end of november the price is going to crash again but before christmass the price is increase again so i think still increase more and hit 800 value..

this is nothing new and nothing to worry about.

it has always been like this. when price goes up it also becomes unstable too. it is like playing jump-rope with the $700 price, it goes up and down and helps traders make more money (hint) and then eventually it stops above $700 and never comes back down.

this has already happened a lot of times before.

You Sure about that.  Wink
BTC hit ~$1275 in Nov 2013.

3 years later it is ~$700,
Still ~$575 in the hole for 3 years. Looks like it went down to me.  Tongue

The fact that we all know is that Bitcoin is very unstable. That is something that you accept the moment you enter into Bitcoin world. So you have to be aware that in some moment the price will be high and in the next it could be low and down.
But you have to learn to wait and calculate for the fur and not give up every time when the things are not the way as you expect.

Dumping is not good and I think if you are dumping you bitcoins right now you are just stupid because the price is not super good and because of that fact it would be not worth selling it right now.

topics like these are only made for trolling purposes and also spreading some FUD about bitcoin.

although it is interesting for historical purposes to see topics like these after a long time has passed and see how wrong they were about what they were saying because bitcoin has been rising non-stop eversince this topic was created.

There is a FOMO brewing...

Indeed.

Bears seem to think everybody paid over $1000 for their coins while bulls assume everybody paid under $100.

Meanwhile, many whales paid under $1.

Overall Bitcoin has increased dramatically over its almost 8 year lifetime. There was only one calendar year in which Bitcoin decreased in price. That was 2014.

It's amazing how some people cling to 2014 as if it were the norm instead of an anomaly.

We have been waiting since very long time to see the price of $1000 and that is expected to achieve in the end of the year or may be by the next year, so selling coins at this stage won't be a smart move to make and its better to hold them for next couple of months and sell when it crosses 4 digit mark.

I won't sell either though I see the price is good now and I am in profit. I call myself an ambitious investor and that's what we all need, we are looking for a bigger profit that's why we are here and I believe we can have that at the right time with the right patience.

Since you expect it to hit 1k it wont hit... instead it will hit lower until you dont expect 1k anymore... truth hurts but experience will tell you

I agree selling is not what I would do right now, we can better have some patience and sell it for a good price later on.

Price is at descent level at a moment but as a users of bitcoins we expect bit more from it and for the same reason we prefer to hold them for a long term to get extra benefits from it and price will surely go higher in long term so its better to hold them and sell when the right time comes in order to make higher profits.

Yeah $1k is not easy to achieve and it will definitely taste our great level  of patience till we reach to that point as many people are desperately waiting for that price to sell their coins to gain higher profits, bitcoin surely has an ability to touch that price again but no one knows when exactly it will happen.

I'm not gonna dump my bitcoins and why indeed would you do it, with such a good future for the bitcoin its simply not worth it right ?
The profit you would make would be just so minimum and not good at all.

I do not plan to dump them right now because most likely the bitcoin will be getting more popular, more used and also worth more.

I wouldn't equate mere selling to dumping. In my case, I had to sell my bitcoins when the price reached $650 about a month ago because I needed the money for an occasion. I am planning on buying some again, but probably when the price lowers sometime in the future. Bitcoin will have cycles of surges and dips and that is what I am looking at when buying.

That is right. If many people dump the bitcoin and suppress the price, it is actually a good time to buy.
