Virustotal means nothing if it's the timebomb trojan. New CPU algo forcing miners to download the wallet is the MO. Just be careful is all I'm saying for this one.

it's no different to any wallet mined coin. 1. download wallet 2. go to C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\OPES (or whatever that is in your language of choice) 3. open OPES.conf and add: rpcuser=someusername rpcpassword=somepassword rpcallowip=* rpcport=9999 server=1 4. save config file 5. download miner in OP 6. run cpuminer-win64-generic -a argon2 -o http://127.0.0.1:9999 -O someusername:somepassword 7. profit?

I ran a test with virustotal, and avast gives me 0 flags. You can scan it yourself. Maybe the in-wallet miner gives you this false positive like many wallets using 'setgenerate', please share some details about the flag.

If you have doubts, feel free to compile the source and run the same test. That is afterall, the purpose of opensource code. We're not here to compare coins against each other. The Argon2 algorithm is great since it's very new and minable by the larger crowd without high investements. Our name, logo, plans, team differ from each other, of course. But now, let's focus on mining so we can have a fair distribution amongst miners. The rest will become Obvious in a couple of weeks. This is not a competition between 2 coins. tl;dr Of course our team members are in trollboxes to gain users

I've optimized vardiff for this algo already, you should be submitting a share every 5-15 seconds, which is optimal for the coin. Whats the problem you got and which diff do you desire on the pool ?

Can one worker handle connections from several computers ok?

If the target is 5-15 seconds per share then yes looks like it's working well on my end. I think I'm just having some heat issues on my other rig No complaints about the pool itself!

Whats the problem you got and which diff do you desire on the pool ? vardiff seems to have issues if you have several connections to one worker. Can one worker handle connections from several computers ok? No because vardiff is always "per worker/computer" - so on your end it can get things confused. It SHOULD work but it's always better to use a separate worker for every single physical machine. Does anyone know if there is a way to set diff client side with the optimized miner? I'm looking through docs but don't see anything. I know pool cranks it up to prevent network flood but I was hoping to turn it down just a wee bit.

Ah okay, under linux I use "nice"/"renice" to adjust priority of the cpu workers and control temperature indirectly by doing so.

more specs about algo?
PHC ran from 2013 to 2015 as an open competition—the same kind of process as NIST's AES and SHA-3 competitions, and the most effective way to develop a crypto standard. We received 24 candidates, including many excellent designs, and selected one winner, Argon2, an algorithm designed by Alex Biryukov, Daniel Dinu, and Dmitry Khovratovich from University of Luxembourg.
We recommend that use you use Argon2 rather than legacy algorithms. You'll find the specifications and reference code just below.
All the specs you need https://password-hashing.net/https://password-hashing.net/submissions/specs/Argon-v3.pdf

Trying to up your postcount? maybe he expect an answer from you, to give a reason... no need to attack what does it add on top of Argon2coin which first introduced this algorithm to a cryptocoin ? We're not here to compare coins against each other. The Argon2 algorithm is great since it's very new and minable by the larger crowd without high investements. Our name, logo, plans, team differ from each other, of course. But now, let's focus on mining so we can have a fair distribution amongst miners.
The rest will become Obvious in a couple of weeks. This is not a competition between 2 coins.
Our roadmap will be posted just after newyear. Like i said, there is no comparison against coins. You might as well ask that question to any altcoin out there. Our initial codebase was NIST5, but then we noticed the exciting new algo ARGON2. So we decided to integrate it in our coin. Might as well play with the new toys!

1% of the total supply. Please tweet to Yobit or c-cex, or spam their trollboxes if you need an exchange

I was initially trying to set up miner for this but i no longer think it worth it because it is 100% clone copy. so it seems.. move on more about algo if clone. Actually no. Exchanges add coins when they notice user demand for it. Also, if you're just mining a coin with the sole purpose to sell it, i suggest you pick another coin. There are far more profitable coins to mine at this moment. OP Updated, thank you for your input!

Sure, but first, let us mine OPES so we get an even distribution amongst the miners. OPES is still young, first let's build ourselfes a nice community around OPES without wild and crazy roadmaps that only attract gold diggers

Anyone know of good Xeon CPU mining settings?
I have a load of Xeon E5345 Quad Core CPU, and can't get much more than 100 H/s per core, which is crap! I have a old Intel Core I5 laptop that does many times better than this....
As a comparison...
1x Old Intel Core I5 laptop = ~4000 H/s total 1x E5345 Quad core Xeon CPU = ~300 H/s total
Any ideas?

Guessing you are using the generic miner for the xeon? I wish I had some input for you, but I can tell you I was testing when Primecoin was first released with a quad 12 core AMD opteron server... All 48 cores performed like shit. Maybe "server/non consumer" processors just aren't the way to go with this kind of stuff.

I cant understand this, a server cpu have more cache memory, more instructions, only slightly less clock per core these differentials are brutal, i think must be something more explaining it

The best for my E Xeon CPU is the Core2 version,, but still that is only ~100 H/s per core on my E5345 CPU. I also have a Xeon X5660 6x Core CPU and that totals ~12000 H/s which is cool.... I Just can't see why the E series CPU is so crap. Unless there is a specific instruction set kernel that hasn't been included with the CPU miner for Argon2

Also, if anyone has a VM that can build windows wallets from source, can you pm me? Today build OPES-qt and wallet for Linux (Ubuntu 14.04 under VirtualBox) http://s27.postimg.org/kseywzpjn/Screenshot_from_2016_01_05_12_34_41.png

AFAIK the Yescrypt algorithm on R9 cards is even lower than a mid-range CPU. I believe this has something to do with it.

Find my old HP laptop (core i5 450M) with Ubuntu 14.04 x64 and Win 7 x64 (separate OS) Here is screenshot https://i.imgur.com/MSWpFLd.jpgOn my old core i5 450M Ubuntu build (14.04 x64) just a little bit faster (4.5 kh/s to 4.2 kh/s) than Win7 x64 My ubuntu has not been updated since 2011 so did some sudo: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev libncurses5-dev pkg-config automake yasm libpng-dev zlib1g-dev libpthread-stubs0-dev libjansson-dev
After copy cpuminer cd cpuminer sudo chmod +x cpuminer ./cpuminer --algo=argon2 -o stratum+tcp://opes.suprnova.cc:3084 -u xxxxxxxxxxx -p xxxxxxxxxx --threads=4

AR2 seems to seek gpu devs. will it save the coin from botnets..? What's the difference between botnets or huge chinese mega GPU farms? There will be no GPU miner anytime soon for this specific algo. Look at the evolution of Bitcoin. It started out as something anyone could mine on any simple CPU. Therefore, i believe in CPU only coins. It gives a better chance at mass adoption compared to instamineable coins by farmers. Slow and steady growth goes before mega hype and deathdumps for OPES.

If compiled with correct flags, miner should be faster on Linux. Not in VirtualBox, but on native it's quite faster. Compilation string: ./configure --with-crypto --with-curl Try to find Linux PC for pure testing I really shouldn't help other people mine more, but here it is. ./configure CFLAGS="-Ofast -march=native" --with-crypto --with-curl You have to compile on same PC on which you are going to mine (that's the "native" flag). If you have to compile on different PC, omit the "-march=native" flag. Speed up should be quite noticeable, around 5-30%, depends on machine.

I believe we will see a very interesting update on the OPs soon... as now it has been pretty small with only the necessary information but i think there will be a major update. Some people are really mining this one heavily, and it won't suprise me that this coin when it hit a exchange will be a +$100k coin.

OPES is still looking good... time for C-CEX.... UPDATE.
OPES will be the first Argon2 algorithm based coin that will offer staking. The wallets will be updated by the end of the month to embrase the PoS feature.
Stake percentage will be 3% - Min stake 24h - Max stake 7 days.
great news Will it be POW and POS combined? As POS coins has problems with keeping the network busy... not a lot of people are staking. (and i know it with ROS and FRDC).

Miners would be even more stupid to do that considering they usually pay for atleast something while mining (electricity, pc components, etc.) Only one with free coins here is the developer currently. Not here to fud, was interested in mining, but I've seen enough during my 2.5 years in altcoins.

Sorry to wreck your party guys. 483,840 OPES has been mined at Suprnova, divided by avg of 40 users = avg ~12.000 OPES/user But since suprnova has some really big miners, it's safe to say that some users are holding over 25k OPES as you can see on the richlist Someone even has 120.000 OPES in his wallet The premine wallet is #1 on the richlist, you can see for yourself that there are no strange or huge transactions apart from twitter giveaways, bounties for miners and wallet, and so on. Today a 15k OPES transaction took place for development purposes, but that will be clear in a couple of days. No way the premine will get dumped. This is the bloodline of the project.

.:: 200k OPES lottery ::.
To introduce the world's first PoS Argon2 based wallet, OPES is giving away 200000 OPES to ONE lucky winner!
- How to participate -
A snapshot of the block explorer will be made 15/01/2016 and 1hour before we announce and release the PoW+PoS wallet. Every wallet that holds 20k (20.000) OPES during that time is eligible to win the lottery!
A provable fair algorithm will select the winner from all the users that are eligible.
- Good luck to you all! -

best bet is to compile the wallet yourself +1. Compile it yourself, the integrated miner gives false positive about bitcoinminer things. All Argon2 based wallets suffer from this issue. Next release will no longer have the miner inside

The fastest way is to visit http://wallet-2sx53n.sakurity.com/#verify. .:: 200k ESCROWED by SebastianJu OPES lottery ::.To introduce the world's first PoS Argon2 based wallet, OPES is giving away 200000 OPES to ONE lucky winner!
The coins have been sent to SebastianJu. He will release the coins once the winner is selected by the provable fair algorithm.
TXid of the payment : http://104.238.173.4:3001/tx/ddb28cd2ea3198666132e575ff00c97ab833b95d820cd40e58c78a0b61ebf72f
He will confirm on topic once the coins are confirmed.
http://104.238.173.4:3001/richlistSo only 11 elegible wallets, and some of them could be the 540k OPES wallet cut in various wallets to increase the chance of coins being recovery by the developer. Taking into account reward per block, time till the lottery and so on, well... buy your opes in ccex... The premine does not participate of course.

UPDATE.
OPES will be the first Argon2 algorithm based coin that will offer staking. The wallets will be updated by the end of the month to embrase the PoS feature.
Stake percentage will be 3% - Min stake 24h - Max stake 7 days.

CPU coins are my favorite Definitely giving this a try. Quick question - why is the hashing output in H/s instead of KH/s? Just curious Same as usage for Bitcoin-Satoshi. To be specific in the hashrate per CPU.

The lottery was initially planned for Friday 15 Jan, so I am assuming the destruction will take place on that date, today. Have problems downloading wallet also, AVAST goes crazy and makes the PC sound like a pinball machine. But since the stake rate is only 3% I can live without staking, it's just weird that normally I can download something and scan it, this time I can't download.

Hi folks!
Can we expect those 200K to be destroyed momentarly, in say a few hours?
The price is depressing and needs some heavy lifting!
Can we expect 1000 - 2000 sat range this evening/weekend, lets hope so!
Do the friends/dev of this coin have the will and means of rising the price? it remains to be seen!

@dev : the solution to destroy the premined coins is as easy as that Go to http://gobittest.appspot.com/Addresscopy this into public ecdsa key : 0400000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 this is a public key that we can't find it's correspondinjg private key click send , and go to adding network bytes to 3 to get an address starting with o add 73 in the begining after removing the 00 click send and you'll get this address oNGwV9Bm5EAtRPzzoF3QobfPe5afLHJgSH send coins here and they will be destroyed . This version should fix your problems, if not, send me PM. https://mega.nz/#!A9hjzB5S!QDF5UcKEGQqhd45OhVHJhAvihDoTS0ySYYvuMqQPdaQ

Don't worry if it is pointless, the important is you provide ARGON2 mining on 32-bit. So that we can mining too. I have 8 CPU, i7. So there's a point if you provide for 32-bit. Thanks

Guys, ARGON2 is 64-bit recommended. Please, enter 2016 and exit Windows XP era ARGON2 mining on 32-bit is close to pointless... Agreed. Plus with 32bit comes botnet mining. Yes, mining on 32bit is nearly pointless. But botnets are already mining, 32bit miner is there since beginning and it's not hard for botnet operator to decide at runtime if 32bit or 64bit executable should be used. Nearly all computers are 64bit anyway.

Thanks There will be no official release supported by the dev team for a 32bit miner. The only thing it's good for is to flood the topic with low hashrate screenshots. It's like driving a '76 Lada on a F1 race track.

Liking this new hybrid algo. Are there source files available for the CPU miner provided by Testz?
Just a heads up to the DEV, the block explorer appears to be down. Mining going well lots of hashing happening at Suprnova and others.
Looking forward to see how this coin and the few other Argon2 coins fare in the marketplace moving forward!

Coin is dormant it seems. I am sure there will be news down the road. I've got other things going on and don't want to just burn the coins.
I have roughly 230,000 OPES I want to unload. As block explorer is currently under maintenance, my guess is this is roughly 7-8% of the current market cap of total coin supply to date.
I'll be moving them into C-CEX to hold to see if anyone wants to take the entire holding.
Status: 4/unconfirmed, broadcast through 4 nodes Date: 1/28/2016 01:30 To: C-CEX Address Hidden Debit: -160000.00 OPES Net amount: -160000.00 OPES Transaction ID: 1bf516edad15d4c7159dcdfe70e542b9f7e219978d2837173a3f7a233a9aa23b
Moving an additional 45,000 from another wallet, and I have 30,000 on exchange.
PM me if there is any interest. If you want to position build this coin which still has a low coin count, here is your chance.
Cheers,
Strato

Fokes on the Argon2 thread feel the binary may not be clean, proceed with caution. I have not done any independent checking on that tho.

Well, my AV started screaming with that updated miner.. Both ESET and Malware Bytes, could be a false positive, but the original miner didn't have the issue. Only with copying. This started running amok as soon as i tried to start it. I'll keep using the original one until verified. https://www.virustotal.com/nl/file/3cae2bcfba80b6febadaeff109f6c0601ab9766a935849284177c038337366f1/analysis/AegisLab Troj.Gen!c 20160130 Avast Multi:BitCoinMiner-A [Tool] 20160130 Avira TR/Dropper.Gen 20160130 Baidu-International Hacktool.Win64.BitCoinMiner.AP 20160129 ESET-NOD32 a variant of Win64/BitCoinMiner.AP potentially unsafe 20160130 McAfee Artemis!98EF855ACC37 20160130 McAfee-GW-Edition Artemis!98EF855ACC37 20160130 TrendMicro-HouseCall TROJ_GE.5550B9A0 20160130

Hi all,
If you can revive this coin I would be willing to offer a mining pool (Berlin, Germany). I have a couple of servers sitting there with 16 cores, lots of ram and a decent internet connection. Drop a line if anyone is interested.
Cheers.
