If compiled with correct flags, miner should be faster on Linux. Not in VirtualBox, but on native it's quite faster.

AFAIK the Yescrypt algorithm on R9 cards is even lower than a mid-range CPU. I believe this has something to do with it.

Try to find Linux PC for pure testing
