I wouldn't sell my account for 100BTC even... How someone could screw over the community after trying to help it is beyond me. If the account was sold or not doesn't really matter...the original Master-p is responsible in my opinion.

Agreed.  Selling your PGP key is never ok...  It is supposed to prove your identity.  Selling your account as an escrow provider is shady enough, selling your PGP key along with it is downright perpetrating fraud.

I can't believe I even need to state this, but I will never sell my PGP key, forum username, or my public Bitcoin address key.  I will also never act as an (assumed 3rd party) escrow for trades involving myself.  If I ever do any of these things, you can consider this contractual documentation that I will not press charges against anyone who finds me and punches me in the face.

Quoted for future reference (I hope not), can you PGP sign it? Id sign something similar, just because I applaud the notion.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

Quoting it for future, you never know it with escrow these days. First QS, then defcon23 then master-p... the forum is getting pretty pathetic.

Wonder who escrowed the account sale...

Stupid joke, but maybe Maidak? Smiley
There was none escrow ..read the thread.

Yes I understand, but it was a joke as I said ... Maidak was one of the most trusted escrows around here, but he scammed people in very similar way as Master-p did.

As I told before it was a 'stupid joke'.

No such thing as a trusted escrow.

Best regards.

I dont understand how he was still on the "trusted" list of escrow forum post
The OP of that thread is AFK until 30th, some Mod might be able to edit it but I wouldn't have my hopes high on that
He should have been removed after the account sale...
AFAIK, neither scamming nor buying/selling of forum accounts breaks any bitcointalk bylaws.
Why would it be removed?

@Heutenamos re. 'There was none escrow ..read the thread.':

If you are adding QS for self escrow then why would you exclude TC ?

None of those users did anything for the community to deserve the trust they were given.  They certainly never ended up in my trust network.

Good luck on that. I guess, you already proved that.

But none of the above things are a solution to him. I'd there any way the victims can get their coins back from him. Any way of tracking him down?

I personally believe any of you who have information of this man and are withholding or are trying to sell the info are no better than the scammer. It like youre saying hey you morons just lost a boatload of cash but lose a little more n help me out n ill give you his info. Very sad that the community doesnt come together to help one another. Shows how selfish this whole community actually is and how pathietic ppl really are

I agree this community is extremely selfish pathetic.

this pretty much. this community is filled with manchildren that cant really think beyond how to take care of themselves. i dont condone doxxing though.
QS, ill send you a pm real soon.

All you self-righteous assholes can suck a bag of dicks. Its real easy to sit on the sidelines and criticize others, but what have you done to help this community? I have been here since 2011, and I sure as fuck have paid for my attempts to point out corruption around here (even when staff are involved), but none of you self-righteous slits were there then backing me up were you? I don't owe you or this community anything, so you can just get in line with the rest to go fuck yourself with your judgements and condemnations. Maybe next time I will just keep it to myself and you idiots can scour the net for his details yourself.

(P.S. Hey geniuses, releasing some ones DOX means you end any leverage you have over a scammer. I am giving him an opportunity to make this right and return the coins before doxing him, but keep judging people morally, it will take you places.)

Master-P escrowed a 10 BTC ICO for my currency DeltaCredits in August. So I highly doubt he sold his account in that month.

I agree with the PS part especially. It's not even 12 hours since this thread was started. And the coins are pretty much in their addresses still. So, there's still a small hope.

PS: I am also a victim of this. I have 3 BTC stuck with master-P.

That proves absolutely nothing. Everything was transferred in the sale, meaning that the escrow could have been completed seamlessly.

From what I read I don't understand you guys.

If everything is true, previous Master-P dox might be released and... So what?
You're going on a vengeful crusade against him? Gonna threaten him and all? You do realize that none of your threats are going to make your btc back.

I don't see why you're threatening Master-P (the old one), as he has no longer the funds. He's a scammer but it won't help you in any way to know where he lives is it?

well the original seller could be held liable for all coins lost in many civil courts so knowing where he lives has value.

I guess only his passport and house were left to sell to this scammer or may be he has sold that as well. I remember my thread I had created in March about account sales as people were selling their PayPal accounts too. That time shorena and few other users dint agree with me and said it's fine. Now with escrows selling their private keys, email accounts and possibly everything he owns on this forum, I wonder if anyone would recommend using an escrow.

I don't buy the excuse of master-p selling almost everything he owned as an escrow for just 1-2 BTC. It seems to be himself who wanted to scam users of this forum which is itself has caused harm to the reputation of escrows here. Only theymos or Badbear can track the IP and state whether or not the account was sold and check the IP location unless he has used a proxy.

I'm really sorry for your loss. Trusting an escrow and getting scammed is the worst of all and 3 BTC is really a huge sum of money. I just hope he gets back and pays everyone if he cares for the account.

I don't normally condone it either, but I am a firm believer in common law justice. Once you break the laws of society you have no more rights by the community than an animal does. IMO this is the only way to remind those that would harm others how near they are to being harmed themselves, and that they are protected only by that paper thin concept of civil society, and thus need to learn to protect it rather than exploit it lest it be revoked and they live as outcasts, open game for anyone to freely abuse.

I completely agree. I would never sell my account either and mine is much less trusted than yours. But selling a PGP private key is beyond me. Of course master-P is fully responsible for this, regardless of the account sale being real or not. Why hasn't jonesz received negative trust yet?

No such thing as a trusted escrow.

You are wrong, and I will be the one to prove it.
Of course there are several trusted escrows. The problem is nobody else can be sure about that. Still trading with escrow is far more secure than without. I hope this won't be used as an excuse for scammers to refuse using escrow.
For additional confidence escrows should limit themselves on the amount they hold. They should have a clear public list of the amounts they hold and recommend other escrows when they reach some threshold.

I messaged escrow.ws about removing Master-p from his trust tree. Somebody do the same.
I did that too several hours ago. But he hasn't been online yet. I'm sure he'll handle that as soon as he reads the messages.

never heard of Master-P until today but if someone had suggested to use him/her as escrow I would likely have agreed based on trust etc

I wonder if forum escrows had their real identities known would that reduce the likelihood of scamming

unfortunately that opens a whole other can of worms too...

Can't he be removed if enough people on DT negate him on their trust lists? (~ in front of his name)

I think we need to figure out a way using smart contracts to prevent multiple bad actors in a trade from being able to scam.
