It has been boring since the year started. No movement what so ever.
Come on! Writing that on the second day of the year is a bit ridiculous. Wait at least a month or two before jumping to such a conclusion.
Situation in Bitcoin changes daily, but having a stable price for two days is not yet meaning anything in a year perspective!

Yup op should think of it. It better can wait some months and he can ask about it. According to me bitcoin is better than last year and we can see move in bitcoin after block halving and other adaption

Boring... No way.
But will it be profitable? Well that's the question.

Some expect the price to go up to 10.000k this year, others predict a price decrease to almost 250 dollar.

Correct it will be an interesting year to say the least. Either we will see a big increase of the price will fall back. But interesting it will be.
Not sure where it will go at this moment since so many things are happening.

Financial collopase, oil prices to 16 dollar etc.

Yup, it will be interesting to see market movement before and after halving this year. Whatever will be the move, this year will be interesting for bitcoin.

I am trading since early 2013 and so far each year has been more than profitable for me. If that is already the case for me, then it surely will be the case for high volume traders. It doesn't matter if the price goes up or down, there is always some good money to be made.

Those who think that Bitcoin will reach $10,000 are dreamers. Let them think and say whatever they want, no one is valuing these kind of insane predictions.

A 800-1000 is what i predict too. Maybe even low 700. But for sure we will not be below 400 dollar or above 1000 dollar.
The time is not right for that.

If the price goes there something is wrong.
So for starters let's see what the block halving will bring us, except for a block rewards getting halved.

If there is an increase I am confident it will hold.

last halving was 2012. nothing happened, check the charts. the interesting year was 2013.

2016 will be kind of boring until nov. or dec.

going down from ath all through 2014 was tough. never seem to leave 200´s during most of 2015 was also not that much of a pleasure. if it stays around 400 for another year - so what?

400´s will be an excellent launch pad.

Hmm, boring, in what sense...no price increase or something else?
For me the time spent on bitcoin is always exciting. Even if we reach a low, now with the current market i feel positive about this year & the future.

there was an increase in the last halving, check again, somethign did happened, and nyway, it's not comparable for two big reason

50-->25 is not like 25-->12, less impact on the mined supply, also bitcoin was still very new at that time, so there was less hype

I agree that halving is over-hyped in this forum. Halving alone won't get us far, if there is nothing fundamental for the adoption of Bitcoin accompanying the halving this year. Having said that, I believe we should still observe some small rise and get a new stable level somewhere in between $500 and $600. we already managed to reverse the 18-month old bear in 2015, and thus the change of the sentiment to positive. Waiting for the fireworks is always the hardest part, especially if you don't know the exact date.

Cryptsy was badly ill since a long time. My first bad experience, with funds being stuck in a limbo for three weeks at least, dates back to the early 2014. I gave them second chance afterwards, only to experience something similar, and then gave up trading there completely. Support was very lousy and not responsive at all, since I can remember (isn't that a perfect indicator of how healthy an exchange is?). Good to see that people who don't know how to run the exchange go out of business. I only hope not many people will be harmed by that. In any case, end of Cryptsy should be compared to the end of Mintpal rather than that of Mt. Gox, to keep the right proportion. I think it shouldn't harm Bitcoin much.

The hype from this halving is larger than last one. Even though the impact of the halving on the total supply is much smaller.

Sadly I think op will be right. Can't see much exciting happening in 2016 but I'm all about long term gain and looking at the price in about 2-3-5 years time. Bitcoin isn't going to go mainstream overnight but the potential is still there but it'll take time.

2015 was actually really boring year, when it comes to price, compared to what happened before. Only by the end of 2015 some kind of movement started happening. The begging of 2016 looks way more interesting right off the bat.

Yeah only this makes my hopes go up for 2016.
We started with quite some action already and the year is just 17 day sold. With a block halving later this year planned offcourse.

Give the 2016 a chance. 2016 is still not even three weeks old, so I believe it is too early for such calls. With halving in less than six months a lot things may happen (or not) that will completely change our perception of this year in context of Bitcoin.

We already had one mini crash and one mini pump in the first 20 days of the year. So 2016 will not be a boring year.

The hype has started dying down, USD exchanges are dominated by Chinese onesinvestments are getting back to 2013 levels and the supposedly interesting bitcoin-related projects of 2015 didn't have a positive impact to adoption or the market.

2016 has started not well with lots of pumps and dumps, which means that bitcoin price in 2016 will not be stable, let's hope for a huge pump at halving period.

I already saw 2 dumps and 1 pumps. But the price is still in the $400 range. It is quite stable for the last two months.
