In order for you to efficiently use the SmartChain, you must download Phase 2.4.1, which is majorly updated from 2.3, and is compatible with Radium 1.4

From there, follow the tutorials on the SmartChain Wiki, and you will be all setup! You will be able to transact Radium easier between other users, prove your identity on the blockchain, record file hashes, verify file hashes, and record permanent text notes on the blockchain.
Excellent! Downloaded it. It's stuck on downloading the blockchain. Says, " needs to sync 303,210 mmore blocks" and just stuck on that.. Any idea ?
.conf file or something ?
EDIT: Running the wallet on it's own seems to allow it to download the blockchain.
The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

If the wallet has not synced yet, the SmartChain will wait on the loading screen until the wallet is fully synced. Is that what you are experiencing?

Yes JJ. I just closed the smartchain and re-ran the wallet alone and it's slowly syncing. 31 weeks behind..

Syncing speed for me seems to depend alot on what node you are syncing from. I have had both very fast and rather slow syncs. It seems to be pretty random.

Tsunamis pull out the water level first (price going down)... then they go parabolic (up!)

Looks like we're going up then, surpassing 250,000 Sats!

A few progress nodes from the past few days.

1) The testnet is up and stable. This provides us with a platform to test new code, without impacting the existing Radium network or the SmartChain. It will help speed up testing and development by quite a bit.

2) I am in the process of decoupling the SmartChain UI from the code so I will be able to release the GUI to other UX devs. Hopefully we can then get the interface looking a bit sharper. This is also a necessary step in creating a Mono compatible version for use on linux.

3) I think I found a way to speed up the SmartChain syncing again, but I wont be able to test that until the decoupling is done.

4) Updates on the Rapid Deploy system are under way.

Ok so I am all synced up but when i try and register the smartchain is telling me that I have no radon in my wallet.. which I do. Unless radon is different than rads..
Color me lost lol

EDIT:Ok So I think i understand. I need to decay Rads into Radon right ?
Why would I want to do that? Does it cost me Rads ? Still confuseded..

Can someone ELI5 ?

Radium - is the exchange trade-able asset - AKA. RADS - If you intend on using the smartchain for one of the many uses, you will need to decay Radium into Radon

Radon - is the secondary asset which is consumed when someone utilizes smartchain functions. (example...registering a username on the smartchain, or publishing a filehash on the smartchain).....

You can stake Radium - you cannot stake Radon

You can decay Radium - you cannot decay Radon

I am running the Radium wallet and heard of the upgrade that is necessary. Could you please give a brief tutorial for noobs on how to proceed with upgrading?

Thanks a lot! Smiley

Sure! Simply download the database fix tool and the new wallet. To upgrade, run the database fix tool, then open the new wallet. That's it! You're now upgraded after that.

Awesome, thank you!

Is there a time frame for doing this before the coins in my old wallet become worthless or is there no risk of such thing?

The fork will occur on 4/28/16, so you need to be updated before then.  It is best practice to update as soon as possible.

The new wallet requires a resync of the block chain, which is what is causing that error.  All you need to do is remove the txleveldb folder and resync the wallet.

Let me know if you have any issues!

JJ

P.S. Im making an upgrade instructions page on the wiki now, ill post it as soon as it is complete.

I'm glad to announce that the Radium testnet has now gone PoS! If anyone would like some coins in order to stake on the testnet, don't hesitate to ask.
