Yeah, this is very suspect...declaring insolvency and preferring some customers (those with alts) over other customers (those with BTC). This is also quite illegal. Does he need a powershovel to dig himself a bigger hole with the authorities?

How is this illegal?

It is illegal for bankrupt/insolvent companies to prefer creditors of the same rank (ie in this case unsecured creditors) over other creditors of the same rank. Otherwise they could pay out friends, close business partners first and leave people who should have the same rights to reimbursement with nothing.

but a court payout would be in USD, right?

i prefer my coins i paid for not USD. The loss/values should spread in coins to avoid more loss than needed.

If it does come to a distributed payout I pity the person who has to work out who gets what & at what rate. If you count all the wallets in maintenance (which complicates things even further because how do you determine a fair price?) there must be something like 60 or so coins to balance out. At least Gox was only BTC and a handful of fiat currencies.

the court had to start nodes + fix the source codes. They will do it to serve justice like they always do Grin

I'm curious about the results. I tend to believe that it was an internal job but probably not Big Vern himself, as that would be just stupid. There was a lot more potential in Cryptsy as a working exchange than 10k BTC and 300k LTC. Perhaps I'm naive, but grabbing the bag and running looks like to kill the goose that laid the golden eggs, and roast it for dinner.
Exactly. Vern is most likely not the thief. I think it's like Vern said, it's probably lucky 7 dev or someone who hacked Lucky 7. Or else inside job by an employee. Not Vern, tho. In my opinion. Karpeles was different because it was half a billion. The coins were worth more than the company. Here the comany was worth more than the coins so why steal the coins.

dude, we are not creditors as we just deposit our altcoins and not selling them to Cryptsy LTD, so we are sharesholders on each type of cryptocurrency, claiming that my shares need to be sold(on which price, probaly on 1 satoshi each first million and rest for free?) in order to cover your stolen type of shares is mass theft, and that is illegal! Cryptsy LTD was a private vault with just one lock box on same type of "shares"

i prefer my coins i paid for not USD. The loss/values should spread in coins to avoid more loss than needed.

All coins reclaimed from improper withdrawals (every single one in the last 18 months) will be dumped for fiat, then the fiat will be given to the lawyers.  That's how it works in a bankruptcy.

Sorry, but you will have to rebuy all the coins you lost.

Is someone stupid enough to get conned by Garza and then try to pump paycoin way after the shit hit the fan smart enough to steal all this money from Cryptsy?

Why on earth would someone that pocketed that much cash in the Summer of 04 continue to fuck around with all those alts and pump and dumps?

Hello I have offered to give big Vern the identity of the person that committed the theft against cryptsy and help them be put to justice but he is not responding to me. I offered my services and to divulge this information for a bounty of %30 of the stolen funds I also said I am willing to negotiate a bit to make things easier.

Here is my twitter were I have tweeted at Big Vern multiple times https://twitter.com/cryptcracker1/with_replies

I am asking for a contract to ensure I am paid the bounty, if anyone is able to reach Big Vern please tell him to get in contact with me asap.
Talk to the law firm that's suing Cryptsy. They might make you an better offer.

All exchanges are turning up being worthless nowadays.
I had trusted Cryptsy when they were at the peak time of their business.
But this is really ridiculous to know that a CEO can run off after getting hold of 'some' bitcoins.  Undecided

Oh nice! of you had you money in a select coin you get your coin back But if your coin was not on the list, well they just decided that you could foot the bill for their incompetence.

Truly an inside job and I am surprised the feds have not picked these guys up.
I cant even think of how many laws have been broken in this cover up.

These guys are sure to flame soon.

From what I've heard more coins will follow. I got not reason to doubt that.
But let's face it. The big amounts will vanish eventually.
