If it is concluded in the teaching of religion, that gamble was sinful. Because the gamble on average contain things called greed.

I think all the players have the nature of greed that high if they win or lose, Because their purpose is getting a lot of money in a short time.
In all the teachings of the religion of greed is a great sin if we do it.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

you are so right. But the Bible also explained that greed is a great sin. In gambling certainly has the nature of greed that is always want to win and Get a lot of money in a very short time. So gambling it could be categorized sin as they contain  greed. all work has many risks and sometimes it can forget about God. And the law of God is a great sin to forget

What's sinning is knowingly promoting a PONZI site. At least with gambling sites you can trust them with actually paying out of you win.

No, gambling is not a sin. It may feel like a son when you lose, but you lost of your own accord. If you're gambling, you accept that you have a *insert house edge here* percent higher chance of losing than winning.

Gambling is not a sin. Otherwise all those holy rollers playing in their Church Bingo Night would be sinners.

it depends on religions, areas, time... some big religions consider it a sin, some countries ban it,... with deep and wise reasons.
it also depends on each person. like Buddhist consider drink alcohol is a sin, but there is a famous Chinese legendary Buddha named Te Cong still drinking day by day, but he still keep his soul clear.

i will tends to believe that it is not a sin. gamble is just like any other entertainment which bring u excitment. if u spend your money on arcade, movies, games, you too wont be able to get back your $$. however, people tends to overspend and cause social problems and that is where it is a sin.

Only YOU just YOU can decide if gambling is a sin. No kind of belief or centuries old book should proclaim something to be a sin or not. If you consider gambling a sin, then lending should be one as well. (I'm not sure, but I do believe the major religions and holy books consider gambling, as well as lending money with interest a sin).
Maybe a better question would be: Is gambling morally okay? Some would say yes, others no. I personally do believe gambling is just as fine as playing video games.

Depends on the religion of course, but an atheist religion (or philosophy for many) like Buddhism condemns it. Of course it's not a sin and it's not punished by any law but the reason behind it is like intoxication with alcohol or drugs it makes you take wrong decisions or at least expose you to make them. So based on that, it should be avoided, but if you do it just be mindful. I can see the reasoning really, even as a casual gambler myself I can see the minute I win or lose I want more, I want to get back what I lost or I want to continue winning, you become possesed to a certain extent even for people which doesn't have any addictions, so it's a very powerful and dangerous activity. Of course, one should gamble just to have fun, exactly the same advise goes for drinking. The minute you cross the line you are in trouble.

Bible does not say or mention that it's a sin, but Bible mentioned something about love of money or greed. If it's for fun or entertainment I guess it's not considered as a sin.

i think so too,  for Christians, if for fun or charity(in some countries all casino winnings are country's, like Finland, they use the money to pay welfare to poor people), it is not a sin.

if people don't work, just only wanna be ridiculously rich, it is a sin, working for life is necessary thing.

for muslins, gambling is 100% a sin, but it is still very popular in muslin countries, like malaysia and indonesia.

gambling isn't a sin at all unless you become greedy and loving money you profit from it, remember greed is one of the 7 deadly sins. anyways we are all sinners , so just continue gambling. you can just ask for forgiveness by praying afterwards.

btw you are still going to hell cuz you're a scammer Tongue

There are several churches in my area that have a Bingo night....some have a casino night too.  I've also seen church raffles.....etc.  The Judea Christian Bible mentions the Israelites "casting lots."  So, I don't know if gambling is a "sin" but I do know that there are quite a few churches that have no problem participating in the activity.

Exactly! I have seen few Temples around Louisiana having these worshipers playing card games with money on the table during some festive season.I doubt its a sin then. Its all in our heads at the end of the day.

I think it it becomes sin when gambling becomes wrong.
Let's say if you were to get addicted to it.
I believe that could be seen as a sin.

Okay, as someone raised as a religious nut -

The Sermon on the Mount.

You have heard ... but I say to you ...

Lot of that in there.

And the whole point of it is that it isn't the act itself that was wrong, it was the motive of the heart whether or not you actually did the act.

Murder is wrong, but it was not wrong for David to kill Goliath.

The issue is the motive, that the motive is the issue whether or not the act itself is actually carried out.

Gambling is an act. The act itself is not a problem.

If your motive is to profit by intentionally deceiving others, then your motive is what is wrong and that is wrong whether or not you actually carry it out.

Like I said - there is good and there is evil, but sin itself is just an artificial construct used by religious leaders to control others. Jesus, the people he hung out with were the people the religious types of his day called sinners. Yet that's not what he judged them by,

If your gambling does not have the motive to harm others then it is not evil whether or not some religious blowhard calls it sin.

If your gambling has the motive to harm others then it is evil whether or not some religious blowhard calls it sin.

It's the motive that matters. And if your motive is evil, you don't give a damn anyway.

I hereby reserve the right to sometimes be wrong

But why is it a sin? is everything a sin when its wrong? I dont think that gambling is a sin. Its entertainment, its fun. If youre addicted, its like a disease, you are sick and need help

Yes, yes it is. Among the major Abrahamic religions gambling is an insult to God since you are putting your faith in chance rather than God.It is also sometimes considered usury.
Don't worry though, many of the things you do everyday are considered abominations. Things like eating anything from the water without fins. Or failing to shave the head of a woman without a veil. We live in a time when you can do whatever you want and easily find another person who thinks God is fine with that.  Wink

I don't see it as sin unless you're very religious. Gambling is meant to be fun and for pure entertainment. I would like to keep it that way. I think it becomes win when you're going to abuse the option to gamble by getting addicted. I believe that's when it becomes sin.
