Nice point OP . We should all be able to take responsibility of the decisions we made . But I agree that once you're addicted to it then stopping it would be difficult . You can talk to your psychiatrist or find a new thing that would be able to divert your attention to it . Also agreeing that if you can't stand losing money then don't gamble or only gamble what you can afford to lose, This is a good prevention to being addicted to gambling

People will start gambling just for fun, but day by day how they lose money like that, slowly they will get addict to gambling. You are right if you can afford your loss then play gambling otherwise better stay away from gambling. Because in gambling if you chase your loss you may end with more loss. So try to get back your lost in other way don't try in the same method where you lost.

That is the main problem of all of us we are keep on chasing our loses and in the end instead of getting those loses. What is happening is just we are keep on contributing and adding to our lose. I think people with a gambling problem has no control of everything, not just the investment alone.  They are most likely a compulsive gambler where they are unable to control their impulse to gamble.  Meaning, they have lost their control over time, statistics, relation with their family and other people (because they don't care whether they have hurt other even their family and themselves or not).  All they care is to gamble which we don't know the main reason among the possible reason such as chasing losses or uncontrolled gambling for entertainment.
