Is it just me, or does anybody else feel that ethereums price is largely the result of manipulation?
After the reality check of the risks of how dumb (as in complicated switch dumb) a smart contract is, the price should be way lower than during the skynet and worlds biggest supercomputer hype. The ethereum price during the comedy caper act of white hackers and such, looked completely unnatural. Even the current price doesn't seem to reflect the realization of the risks and limitations of ethereum.
Also the transition from code is law to a permissioned/censored system with a fork should have had some influence on the market, or is that just me being delusional in thinking a fundamental change in philosophy is a kinda big deal, maybe even an existential one?
it might be, ethereum is really high at the moment while the real eth, etc is going down and down, i think we might expect a big pump in etc soon There is possibility that the ETC will be pumped a lot in the next few days before the final dump happens duce to the dump of big holders. Somebody said the Ethereum Foundation is short of development funds at the moment. So it might have to sell the ETC. That could be the reason for the reason for the recent price drop of ETC. The ETC price is just 10% of ETH now. The ETC price is keeping on dropping now. Maybe the hacker has started to shorting the ETC already.

If ETH is a bubble it could double in value by ETC reaching parity.

I do not think the ETC price could reach the level of the ETH in the near future. If there is no major development, the price will be low.

I am not sure I can define ethereum price as a bubble, one thing is sure, it was hyped a lot more then it deserve but the DAO fiasco stopped insane hype, if it was not stoped it easy could be 50-100$ with the right plan using smart contract as ponzy, that was main goal of original DAO
For now i could see a big problem when they try to push POS update, it will be technical problem and the lose of trust from miners, sure they can try to pump, but it will prolly crumble in the dust

I do not think the Ethereum price is a bubble. It has support from the IBM and Microsoft and also from the community.

After the DAO fiasco, the Ethereum price is more reasonable. So I think it is not in the bubble phase any more.

If the Ethereum keeps to be a PoW coin with the support from the miners, the price will rise quite a lot.

Anyone know if developers fixed that problem and side chain alts based on ETH can't be hacked again? I was off the loop for some quite time.

But the Etheruem price is rising now. Any reason for that? There is a pump by the Vitalik talk in the DEVCon2 in Shanghai Vitalik Buterin will be presenting the newest version of the Mauve Paper (Mauve Paper Version 3 at the time of this writing) in a panel titled: The Mauve Revolution.* His presentation will take place in the Grand Ballroom on September 19, 2016, 4:30-4:55pm.* Buterin will discuss proof of stake, Casper, and sharding, which are the biggest upcoming milestones in the always-evolving Ethereum protocol. Proof of stake will offer a reduction in the cost of consensus and is proposed to increase security guarantees. Sharding allows on-chain scaling to tens of thousands of transactions per second while still remaining a network that can simply run on a sufficiently large set of computer laptops. The Casper proof of stake approach introduces a number of concepts that include consensus-by-bet and fork choice by value-at-loss.

I think this coin has already proved itself and has proved that it is strong ... I attribute it to the category of strong and long-term investment ...

Hacked? you mean DAO? or What about the Casper PoS does it make ethere secure? Yes, i think. Or you think the DAO cases it is the vitalik's fault. Funny guys.

Most Dapps haven't even come out yet. Even if they fail and there is a crash, the next iteration will likely succeed. We are in the 2000 era of the internet.

Why are the most people so negative about ETH?
Many projects are going on regarding ETH and big companies investing in the blockchain of ETH. ETH blockchain is the most populair (?) coin regarding building projects on and such..

When something fails at Ethereum they sweep it under the rug and promote the "next big thing!". 1. Paul Brody 2. Augur / re-inventing the wheel of iGaming 3. DAO To me it seems like Ethereum is the biggest scam in the cryptoland but nobody wants to believe it so long as they continue to make some trivial ROI from it.
