i wasn't born to christians nor have i claimed to be one. i said it was superior to islam. so are judaism, hinduism and buddhism. there is a fundamental incompatability between islam and our civillised values of freedom of thought, freedom of speech, the rule of law and separation of church and state that doesnt arise with other belief systems.

the hands/eyes verse is to do with things that promote or enable sin. the sword verse is about division and persecution. he's saying people who follow him will be hated by their own family not calling for someone's death. there are commentaries on biblehub.com if you're interested (something tells me you arent) but i havent got hours to spend pouring over my bible typing up long explanations for 20 verses to go back and forth with someone who thinks mark and corinthians are part of the old testament.

i'm all for abortion of disabled and some nonwhites and if i had my way it would be enforced in overpopulated third world countries.

We agree on most of the above, not the bolded section.  That kind of idea, if put into effect becomes a political tool used to get rid of real or perceived enemies.

I really don't think that Islam is real issue and problem here.
For centuries Muslim lived in the Europe, in Bosnia, Kosovo, also Germany, Austria, France, UK, together with Christian without some big conflicts or problems.
We have problem now because this new Muslim, coming now to Europe from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, are very different from this ''old Muslim'' in Europe.
They coming from different culture, have different mentality etc, and this is real issue here, not Islam as religion.

I think they're all stupid but I don't think they're all equally stupid.  Or equally harmful.  I don't like Islam in general and the radical ones in particular.  They do not belong in 2016.  Those beliefs are a throwback to a time before critical thinking had evolved.  Christianity used to be just as bad if not worse.

I went on the biblehub.com, the problem is that the interpretation is just that.  Subjective interpretation.  There are Muslims that justify and explain vile quotes from Quran.  Not sure what your point is.

the disagreements within islam are usually centered around how much and what types of violence are permitted and where, what counts as being in a state of war, who can be targeted and so on with the "moderates" claiming they have to abide by the laws of non muslim countries in which they live, not whether violence is allowed at all. for example some say the only sex slaves you're allowed to have are captives taken during war time and others say any non muslim woman can be taken and raped at will. but all agree there are certain conditions under which rape slavery is permissible because the koran, god's final revelation which can never be superceded, tells them so. you don't get that from jesus. you do get christians doing bad things but that's people being people.

I'm an atheist or more precisely anti-theist.   So it is hard for me to comprehend the nonsense in these books.  I get my morality from observing the world, not some ancient, bronze age myth.

I guess we know where you stand.  Is that from Bible or some other wise book?  How did you come up to a conclusion that killing disabled or nonwhite babies is moral, right thing to do? Just curious....

Yes the bible says similar things, one tenth as many.  No, there is no moral equivalence argument that has merit.

That is simply because of the INCIDENCE of violence.  If this is because Christians don't obey their old book and Muslims do, it does not matter the reason.  The incidence in current day is the measure.

Yea, actually i heard this before and i believe there's an actual study about this. I believe it's cause people in Europe are falling away against procreation. That is why they said Muslim people would dominate the population of Europe, 10-15 years from now.

the historicity of jesus is accepted by the vast majority of christian and non christian scholars but so what if they're all wrong, his teachings or the teachings attributed to him by whoever you think made him up are perfectly compatible with our modern secular values. you don't have to believe buddha existed to accept that buddhism is a peaceful belief system. my beef with islam is not that it is false.

You are not far off ISIS ideology, as much as you hate them, the bottom line is the same.

If we look upon things on a large scale religions are about being good. But you don't need a religion to be good. Or religious rules to control your conduct.
But the thing is that being good in not profitable. And the proof is that if you look closely you can see that war is the most profitable business there is. It's not about killing your enemies. It's about money. And power, of course.
