Steam here also in our country philippines accepting bitcoin as payment also garena or league of legends you can buy shells using bitcoin.. and i  think more store here in my country will be accepting bitcoin as payment..
I didn't realise that Riot was accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment for their game now, when did they start doing that?

I expect that steam is going to start drafting their Bitcoin payment program to more countries sooner than later, so we'll see how that all works out. It seems like they've got a good system going for them, and I think they could make a lot of money if they continue to expand it.

This is great new for bitcoin most likely leading more people to use it. Bitcoin will soon be on every gaming platform it's already got g2a and now it's getting steam.

It wasn't really hard to use 3rd party websites, it was just a minor inconvenience and sometimes there were problems (i.e. delays). The niche market for those websites is gone now though. I'm waiting for Amazon to do this so that I don't have to purchase gift cards for Bitcoin from middlemen anymore.

It is already on Steam.

How about you rather start using steam and reading some FAQ's rather than asking such questions? Basically the idea behind is that you don't have to pay at each game purchase but can load your 'wallet' with a certain amount of money that can be spent at a latter date. I have never heard anything about 'earning in online games' with steam wallets. You could try selling in-game items (e.g. CS:GO) for money on the marketplace though.

I'm happy that they themselves are actually accepting bitcoin (should drive adoption rates in the demographic that uses Steam products heavily), but the ability to purchase Steam content with bitcoin has been around for a while now in the form of various services and stored value cards that can be purchased with bitcoin.

It was not the same thing. We have bitcoin debit and credit floating around - and with these it is possible to virtually buy anything, but that doesn't mean we are closer to real bitcoin use.
This time is full direct Steam adoption and with over 100 millions users bitcoin payments could be noticed by gaming crowd.

Here in philippines you can already buy SWC( Steam wallet codes) online using coinsph app.But there is a big fees here. But im still looking for buying steam wallet codes or games directly to steam and hoping for less fees.It will be good for online gamers that use bitcoins for online transactions and as online banks. That will be so good for us.

Bitcoin is going to be more acceptable as you can see indeed and that is so nice for the currency itself and it is also nice to see that Steam and Bitcoin will works together.
So you can earn some more money with it and that would be really nice and spend it also more.

Its indeed nice they steam is now accepting the bitcoin, I hope it will more popular but this will happen soon or later without any doubts.
Its just a matter of time before people will use the bitcoin for steam.

Doesn't seem like it to me. They never showed much interest in having Bitcoin, and they could have already implemented it long time ago. Where's the screenshot on reddit from?

A lot of people where skeptics about Steam accepting Bitcoin and as we can see, they have been proven wrong. When the next big mogul starts giving hints into the direction of a Bitcoin acceptance, the skeptics will also be proven wrong again, and what's worse, will be late to the party again. I guess until Bitcoin isn't accepted in every store in the planet, a lot of people will still stay in the denial stage.

I'm surprised you just uprooted that up. This thread was created when Steam proposed the use of bitcoins and now, it has been in Steam for nearly a month now. Nearly.
I agree with you though. Bitcoin will someday be the currency in the virtual world and somehow be adopted in the physical world.
