Also, just to put it out there, I hope dev is gearing up to pull the trigger on POS when that POW hashrate starts slowing down. 'Cause it's gonna get hairy when that difficulty drops.
I would argue against switching this coin to PoS. There needs to be a PoW coin which can only be mined by the West. One of the main reasons I support this project is because I think that a crypto which prevents the Chinese communist PoW miners for dominating the chain has a lot of appeal to the old PoW miners in the West. Wait... That's true? I thought he was joking. Did you think Trump was joking about those tariffs against the Chinese communists too? I don't understand how it would be possible to block anyone from mining a decentralized network. Wouldn't that require a highly coordinated effort? I haven't looked at the source. Are Chinese IP's blocked in the wallet or... how does that work?? There'd have to be a list of Chinese IPs on the TrumpCoin website which every node would download and keep updated. Nodes would then reject all blocks and transactions propagated by those blacklisted IPs. I did look in to blocking them but I was told they can bypass it easy with VPN. VPNs, TOR exit nodes, etc would make blockchain IPsec useless tech. |

I disagree a little because a firm belief of mine in a free society is Ostracization. Disruptive influences, people who feed off others and dont contirbute to the society would be ostracized. of course Im not talking about disabled, ill or other people who can’t contribute for whatever reason. There would be provisions for such cases via voluntarism and charity. Crypto in a free society doesnt go against that principle - The Chinese miners dont play ball, so yes I would ostracize them if it were possible. This is a good example where logic and reason comes in to play. In other words a good dose of common sense. and on to something else: How difficult is it to implement POS in to a coin? Wouldnt halving the block size be more beneficial? |

Sure, they could use a VPN or TOR (they'd be at a disadvantage mining though using TOR), but it would make it a little more difficult. Look at what the Chinese communists state controlled miners have done to Bitcoin. They effectively own the network, because they control over 51% of the hashpower. That's a UGH problem in my book. Also, if you end up blocking China, what about the other communist countries?

Your argument is based on the same rational as the current "Free Trade" policies instituted by governments in the West. Imo and Trump's, this is an irrational proposition. You can't play ball with people who cheat. You can't outsource your economy to countries which are ideologically opposed to yours, steal your IP, disregard basic labor laws and engage in currency wars against you. Such a policy is idiotic and doomed to destroy your country. I'm all for having a "decentralized free economy", but only with those individuals who value the same ideals that I do. Making it more difficult for those who are ideologically conflicted with you doesn't degrade the notion of a free economy and free enterprise. |

You're right that IPsec would, while not making it impossible, add a layer of difficulty when mining from a banned IP range. VPN does also have some overhead that would be less than desirable to a mining rig. Even minutely effective, the "tech" would be right inline with the Trump theme of the coin. It would pioneer a direction and attract some old-school crypto folks as well as the Trump geographic. It would attract serious miners and keep difficulty up to a more secure level. While it would be new tech in the crypto world, IPsec is ancient in terms of networking. It should be fairly simple to implement. There are caveats. The network would rely on a centralized server the way you described it but using the actual blockchain as a blacklist opens up a new abuse/attack vector. This has my wheels spinning bigtime. I hope this discussion continues in some serious depth. |
