Hello,

This is an important message about your Augur crowdsale account.

We'll be distributing Reputation (REP) tokens soon. If you need to update/change your ETH address, you have until tomorrow (Monday, September 12) to do so.

Make sure you have the private key file for that address. It's like a "password" that will give you control of your REP tokens, allowing you to send them to any other ETH address.

Your private key file was generated and e-mailed to you automatically when your current address was created – most likely around the time you registered the crowdsale account. You were also given a one-time option to download it at that time. Only you should have this file.

If you've lost track of your private key file, you need to create a new address, which will prompt the e-mail of a brand new private-key file. You can do this by just logging in to your crowdsale account, scrolling down to the address field shown below and clicking the change button.

REP right now exists as accounts in a database maintained by the Augur developers. If you control an account the deadline for submitting your Etheerum address is September 12. After that the currency will be issued on Ethereum as a standard token. This means you will be able to transfer the tokens around just like other subcurrencies on Ethereum.

REP will be added to exchanges when each exchange decides to. Every exchange has its own policy for if and when that might happen so you would have to determine that on a case by case basis.

Gatecoin is the only exchange currently trading REP because they accepted funds from their customers during the crowd sale which they used to buy a large REP account and they credited their customers accordingly with a balance just as they would a regular deposit but with the understanding that REP will not be transferable out of their system until token launch. Presumably they will allow withdrawals once they are able to actually send REP.

Poloniex is likely to add REP immediately based on how quickly they have added other tokens and once there is some liquidity in a major exchange or two shapshift will likely also add REP (they are big fans of augur apparently)

As for other exchanges I cant guess, some may never add it.

There will also be the opportunity to trade REP atomically. EtherDelta and maker market are both live platforms for atomic tades. EtherDelta seems like they will add whatever exists immediately while Maker is taking their time to double check the security of their contracts and client software although things might speed up a little post security audit.

    It sits on top of ethereum but it's not affected by the price of ETH?

REP holders are obligated to report on Augur markets or they lose some of their balance, the last I heard that was 1% each reporting period for inactive REP (reporting periods are every 2 months) In return for reporting they earn half of the fees that market makers set (although reporting against consensus on every market comes with a significant penalty: up to 20% a reporting period for reporting against everyone on everything, nothing or a slight gain in REP if you report truthfully on everything)

To value REP I predict how popular Augur will be in terms of market volume and I predict what fees the market makers will be charging since its likely that the value of REP will closely track the reporting income and the expectation that this will increase in the future.

The price of ETH is not irreverent. Its likely that at least at first a lot of markets will be denominated in ETH so reporters will earn ETH on these markets. If a stablecoin becomes popular on Augur then reporters will earn that stablecoin also. So long as ETH is the main currency though it will have an effect on prices. Its interesting to note though that right now REP prices are for the most part quoted in BTC and so changes in the price of bitcoin have been very influential on the valuation of REP.

It is entirely possible that REP prices will be for the most part independent of ETH prices but no one really knows

Сегодня 16 сентября начинается дистрибуция тестовых REPs на подтвержденные адреса.
Джоуи в твиттере сообщает, что не затребовано всего 11,7 тыс. REPs, самый большой аккаунт из них на 2334.

Удваиваю вопрос. Зашел по инструкции на https://testnet.etherscan.io/token/0x25a5f4dc8cd1d6b191865097a19f3c27f0bfb890, указал свой адрес на myetherwallet - выдаёт, что на нём есть токены, количество соответствует купленному. Дальше по инструкции зашел на https://www.myetherwallet.com/#send-tokens - не только REP на балансе нет, но даже, собственно, REP в колонке токенов нет. Это уже надо паниковать?
