Yes the 2 huge blocks (183M and 210M) from the unofficial Chinese stress test knocked out 1 in 5 nodes. Some "listening" nodes could not keep up. Crypto is fast moving no place for old crap operating.
Data yes you ether control and operate it yourself or hand it over on a silver plate to a central operating company who will sell it and give you nothing. Everyone's own choice.   Why does a doctor have access to medical history, and the person itself not. Can people not trusted with the own data?
Data is the new oil.

Those are unquestionably useless and brainless use cases on a blockchain. They are suited better for centralized data centers.

Ripple is a centralized cryptocoin, however serving a different type of need, different from bitcoin.
