Greatest risk for XRP is to be bypassed by the incumbents.

it starts to happen

Their service is based on ETH...  that is a joke!
edit:  and call it instant??? wtf??  Nothing beats XRP in speed!

"Circle Internet's international money transfer service, built on a type of blockchain called Ethereum, will allow customers to send payments between U.S. dollars, British pound sterling or euros on their mobile phones. There are no fees or foreign exchange mark-ups."

That is the silver lining for XRP: it is still faster, at least on paper.

But:
1- what if Circle's chain is private? (using ETH "technology", ie it's more a marketing claim than anything).
2- How can XRP scale (look at ETH today, it's extremely challenged, and lots of transactions on MEW are not processing)

XRP is faster on paper, on rock, on any scale that you want to invent..  Try it yourself..  Grin
XRP is more secure... ETH next DAO is just waiting to happen and it will happen.. too risky!

edit:  That is why banks have chosen to use Ripples technology.. it is much better than ETH and R3 proposal.

I have absolutely not doubt about XRP being x100 times better than ETH.
I believe that ETH will drop significantly (cannot scale... as we see today).

My point is that XRP can still be bypassed by owned solutions.
Why would a bank use the XRP coin, while they can invest 10x less and create their own?
Banks are good at talking to each other and excellent lobbyist when needed (pushing new regulations).

That is why I believe that XRP potential could be limited. I hope I am wrong as I hold some of these coins :-)

Ripple team has been focusing on developing this platform which for now is unchallenged.  There are many wana-be but XRP is ahead of them all.
