Many people in the community are saying that Ethereum will eventually overcome bitcoin.

I don't actually believe that it could be happening, but would like to hear your opinions.

Please explain your answer!

I see its now down, it used Ethereum to be at 0.032 BTC, now is at 0.023 BTC, I don't think it will overcome bitcoin and the decision to go to POS led to this price decrease and I think it has now no more chances to compete with bitcoin.

Yes btc is unique despite ethereum and it's really difficult (read impossible) they can overcome on btc.

probably this is another bubble, good for traders and pumpers Wink

We will see what will happen, but i believe bitcoin is much more popular than eth and i doubt any
altcoin can endanger bitcoin at this moment.

"many people" are not saying that, a handful of people who invested in the premine are saying that to create hype so they can dump their coins at very high price and retire

Be radical, have principles, be absolute, be that which the bourgeoisie calls an extremist: give yourself without counting or calculating, don't accept what they call ‘the reality of life' and act in such a way that you won't be accepted by that kind of ‘life', never abandon the principle of struggle.

they say also eventually so never mind...
this look as good experiment not so much and I guess people make only a "bet" and nothing so much.
In btc there is also a political view of monetary system that is stronger than a new algorithm.

I dont think so.
Eth has worse problems on scalability than BTC.
How so? If it moves to a stable proof of stake and survives fine, then scalability should be significantly better than Bitcoin.

Anyone who says that Ethereum will beat out Bitcoin in the crypto economy are probably not very well versed in the various advantages or disadvantages of the different cryptos.

Bitcoin is very solidly the "gold" of the digital space, and Ethereum is the silver, in my opinion, and it will stay like this for a while. Eth has it's uses, but Bitcoin is more versatile and user-friendly overall.

For what I remember a similar link is between litecoin and bitcoin.
So bitcoin is the only coin, I say only because ethereum seems more a new block chain, an evolution of itself, where the coin is "a part" or part of it, yes fundamental, but the really advantages are from a new chain, new block idea.
nothing that btc itself can do it with an app or site linked (like btc graffiti or direct bet to be more clear)

I have no problem for Ethereum to go PoS. But it should be PoW mined for a few years to distribute the coins.

I actually think that there is a lot of space for both. Since Ethereum offers other features that bitcoin can't offers and vice-versa. Bitcoin is more as a currency while Ethereum is more a smart contract coding platform, so, there will always be a market industry to satisfy the demand of both cryptos.

That is also what I think. These two coins are complementary.  I hold both to benefit from future adoption.

Ethereum is a good coin but I don't think it will overcome bitcoin. Actually I think that no altcoin will overcome the bitcoin for at least 10 years.

It could be true. As long as bitcoin evolve all the time, no other coin can replace bitcoin in the medium term.

Asking this question in bitcoin forum, you will get opinion strongly lean towards bitcoin.
If you in Ethereum forum, I guess people will trash Bitcoin there.
I myself believe in Bitcoin, not Ethereum, so I stay here.
