There are no 1M of coins. So, this wall can't be broken anyway.

Been solo mining for a few hours now

...
...

I figured it out.

I think even with correct algo, with solo mining you see no stale rate until a block is found,
and perhaps network connection is all the time equivalent to 90% stales and there is only
very small chance to get the block. No way to know it.

So, pool are a necessary middleman.

Of course, if you can find valid block every 10 minutes... Grin

It's funny how NVC gets added to the exchange before PPC.

Funny  haha? I think it's seriously odd that a fork of PPC would be added before PPC itself.

+1 let's add the broken code from the fork...not the original. Sounds like a great idea! Let's do it!
I call it - corruption. In Russia it is very relevant, though.  Tongue

basicly a scrypt hashing proof of stake coin.

  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=114712.0

windows binaries:
  https://sourceforge.net/projects/novacoin/files/

pools:

the best altcoin multipool is NVC ready
 http://coinotron.com/

 beta:
 http://novapool.zapto.org/

solo mining identical to LTC, but only CGminer, and -e 1 is required

impossible right now - found blocks are rejected, getwork is to slow.
        >>>  investigating a solution cgminer -E 1 <<<

Question: Why is the client telling me that the trust nodes are outdated? This could be a problem, because I cannot download and verify the blockchain. Could someone point me to a fix?

How many NVC has already generated much today?
How many NVC is generated per a day?

Nothing compared to the initial 110k.

I think we can also assume the hardware mining the initial 110k did not just "switch off" after the 110k.

I'd be willing to bet closer to 200k is in the same person(s) hands - so about 74% of the currency (currently).

Im going to put up a proofofstake.com page with NVC metrics later, this should indicate all of the above.

1 hour and 10 minutes later at 600 Mhs using BFGminer at -E 1, 40 stales... no blocks found. I give up on this coin. From the read it sounds like more than 50% of the coins are in one place, possible owned by one person? How is this a good idea? I think I'll stay away from these odds.

It seems that you forget --scrypt option.

110k of 273k is not "more than 50%". Also, don't forget about mining... Now network creates approximately 2000 new coins per day, for example.

I did solo mining Feb 11 - Feb 12 and all was done. I found more than 130 blocks with 24,49 - 20,37 reward. (9 Mh/sec)
But since Feb 13 it was rejects only.
Now mining is working fine with coinotron.com (less then 1% rejects) (I also tried http://novapool.zapto.org/ but got 50% rejects on February 13, but pool is alive and working now)

Scrypt or other alternate algorithms is the future of GPU mining. Learn this option or go out of mining.
