Does anyone know what James (jl7777) is doing in regards to donations? He bought like close to 20 btc worth of iota.

Spoke with him quite some time ago about it, at the time he expressed more interest in helping out the community through work instead of donation, not sure why he sees them as mutually exclusive, it's quite obvious to me that everyone has to do both if they wish for great IOTA success.

Anyone that knows him close feel free to try to change his mind. Me and him are like night an day in terms of opinions on how things work from fundamental physics to adoption of tech stretching back 2 years, so I don't think I'll be able to change his mind Smiley

I was actually thinking today about sending some out very soon. The network seems to have gotten more stable and chances of rollbacks less likely. However the network is currently frozen and no transactions can go through due to some work going on for a new release, but once it's re-opened I will start to contact my buyers for their addresses.

He's actually quite accessible.  Why don't you PM him.  His account is JL7777 here on BTT.  Maybe ask him to respond on this thread.

A Personal Quote on BTT from 2011:
"I'd be willing to make a moderate "investment" if the value of the BTC went below $2.00.  Otherwise I'll just have to live with my 5 BTC and be happy. :/"  ...sigh.  If only I knew.

Quote
Hello all iota people. I am selling a large part of my iota stack. All quotes are of the old supply calculation as I do not know the new supply. It is 17.2MM calculated in old iotas or can be calculated as 1.72% of total iota supply. I am selling for 0.000023256 btc/iota (old supply calculation) for 400btc total. This offer is open immediately and will be revoked if not taken by the time iota goes live (Edit: By "live" I mean is on exchanges). I can prove account ownership once a deal has been agreed. We will of course use a reputable escrow. PM me to make arrangements.

Update: Yassin54 has volunteered to be escrow as can be seen in the main iota thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1216479.msg15073710#msg15073710

Thanks for reading.

Important Edit: Calculation deal amounts for new iotas. Referencing my post here with CfB: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1216479.msg15080712#msg15080712

This will be my calculation for amounts when making deals. I think this will help with any confusion.

Old to new iota ratio: 1=2.78MM

So my total amount offered is 47816000000000 or 47.816 Trillion or 1.72% of total supply.

Network goes live soon. Once iota hits exchanges this offer is revoked.

Maybe if you offered to donate 5-10% to the foundation you might find a buyer.

A buyer will want the most possible iotas for the less possible money.
Stop bashing people, on something voluntary, and private, they dont need to discuss publicly if they dont want to.
And ive made my donation already.

Funny thing: everybody who holds IOTA is a speculator. Even if you intend to sell in five years you are still speculating for better prices in five years.

So stop that silly nonsense about speculators and investors. Nobody needs to hold one IOTA to support the project, you all could help developing and marketing without holding one little IOTA.

Did you invest to DAO of ETH? Probably Yes...

Catch My Thought:

The foundation of IOTA is very good investment!

Some kind like DAO in ETH!

Have a nice evening

so you are speculating to be able to spend them in the future. you also could have bought IOTA in the exact moment that you need them.

only exception is for testing needs, because obv someone has to have access to IOTAs to share them with others so that testing is possible.
